Well, I caught another cold and with it a double infection.

I am on antibiotics (the good news), but the bad news is that this latest infection is just one of many in my life. So.....I have been referred to a specialist to see if there is anything that can be done to prevent infections and save myself from hearing loss occuring in 15-20 years.

Say some prayers. Other than that, all is well. I just hate feeling sick--ears infected and spreading to my throat.

The sad thing is that I was one of three people seeing the doctor, my kids have felt yucky too, but now they are all better and I feel horrible.

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

sorry to hear that, Liz. Ear infestion can be dangerous, so you must take all the antibiotics prescribed by the doctor in order to kill the virus once and for all!

Sure you will be in my prayer and hope you will get better soon.

If you don't mind my asking, how old are you? If you're mid thirties and you lose your hearing in your mid-fifties, is indeed not good. It's not good to lose anything in your life concerning your bodily functions.

But there are indeed known ear operations. Maybe changing the duct of Eustatius.

It's the time of deceases. The flu's in the country here. Thank God, I had it last October so I feel fine.

I hope you feel better soon.

I am 33. And I am going to the specialist any possible future loss of hearing from occuring. I don't want to wait until there is a problem. Preventative action. Also it may keep my ears from being infected every time I get a cold. Since I have bad allergies, colds are common.

Preventative action.

Sounds like a good plan.

Yup I am also researching local allergies that take my insurance, while we are looking to prevent--maybe prevent colds too.

I feel much better. My family and I (husband, kids, mom and brother plus me) all had the stomach flu over the past 2 weeks. I was the first to get it and it lasted for 1 day (not too bad at all really---I've had much worse).

My ears are not much better, but less pain and draining and they are no worse. Spring is almost here---only a few hours away.

On March 13th, my husband celebrated our wedding anniversary #10!!! We went away for the weekend and left the kids with my mom (that's how she probably got the flu, even though my kids were over it) and we had a wonderful time.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers and warm messages. I really appreciate you guys.

Hey Liz! Glad you're on the mend! Happy anniversary! I know how you feel...I'm getting over my latest bout of bronchitis and ear infections. Just finished up the antibiotics, but not totally past it yet. I've had ear problems since I was a kid and I'm also in that hoping to not be deaf when I'm 50 category! My ears hurt with the slightest cool breeze any more. I'd love to know what options you find (PMs of course...). I never considered that there was any way to fix the problem. Tubes in the ears definitely didn't do the job. wink.gif

Allergies...I do this with my son who has them in spring and fall (it's already started for him) tho not really severe...I give him a tablespoon of locally made raw honey each day. Since it has local allergens in it, it helps your body build an immunity. You mihgt start with a half teaspoon and build up and you might get some relief.
