Okay, imagine this: RDA stays in shape after the Stargate movie and is cast to reprise the role of MacGyver in the upcoming film (that would be my ideal casting situation. ). He's older, wiser, been through many experiences...what are your ideas for a potential script that would fit the character as he is now? Where would you start? Would you have any of the recurring characters we loved from the TV series return? You can discuss anything you like, even things like his appearance (all gray hair like Jack or a little more brown sprinkled in, for instance). I just want to hear what you think.

Oh yeah... I can imagine a semi-retired MacGyver being approached by, let us say for example, Willis (Bruce Harwood is still alive and kicking these days) who is now head of Research at the Phoenix Foundation, to help out with some debacle or other.
... Or maybe Mac is touring the NASA platform where their launching a shuttle, and there is a hijacking and he ends up in outerspace, saving the world again!
... Or an old friend--Jack Dalton, the Coltons, any one of a number of young people he helped through the Challengers Club, a former collegue through the PF or the DXS--requires some rescuing. We know who they'd want to come and get them out of trouble!
No mullet necessary... gray hair is very distinguised! Far more appealing than bushy weirdness or color bottled-youth.
... Anything with camels would be fine. *winks at 'Beth*

Old troubleshooters never die... They just wait til the last moment and then rescue themselves!

I defineitely thing RDA could still be a good Mac (he's not that old). Yeah, actually I think a lot of the actors could come back (Maybe Bruce McGill, Terri Hatcher...). Even Micheal Des Barres Yeah, I sure hope they don't goof this thing up. It had better be good

If RDA stars in Mac Movie so must do the rest.

After a memorial service for Pete, which Mac attends, I would start with Mac being offered the job that Pete had at the Phoneix Foundation, he would get news that Murdoc has kidnapped Sam, Nikki, Jack, and Penny. Instead of having someone else risks their lives to go after Murdoc, Mac decides to do it himself. At the end of the movie we see Murdoc and HIT finally being shut down; Mac being reunited with Sam, and Sam taking on Mac's old job.

Sounds like my very first story. But indeed a final clash with Murdoc involving all the characters would be the movie I... we always dreamed about.

I've said it before, they have to stay true to what Mac was. He still needs to be a nice guy, no Jack Bauer/Jason Bourne business. It should have humor, his usual gear, and a girl that he doesn't end up committed to. The film needs to have an opening gambit, and Mac needs to be saving the day in a meaningful way, not just a "grand" way like Bond or Bauer does. It needs to be a cause he believes in that also needs what only he can bring to the table. I also think there should be a new villian and not a recurrence of Murdoc or some other character no new fans would know anyway. So if RDA plays it I think all the "character" traits of Mac would be handled. That just leaes it to the writers to give him a good plot and to keep it both true to the spirit of say 1st season MacGyver, but also to take it into this 21st century in a relevant way that doesn't change what makes MacGyver MacGyver.

That's how everybody wants it. The hero vs his arch enemy. It would be like Superman vs Lex Luthor again but in this case, MacGyver vs Murdoc.
They may introduce new villians like they did in almost every other episode. But of course Murdoc should be part of it.

It seems to me that when the series ended it left more unanswered questions then answered. If they do the movie right and tie things up with Mac vs Murdoc, then think of all the movies they could make introducing new villians. That's just my take on things.

Murdoc showed up in Partners, The Widowmaker, Cleo Rocks, Halloween Knights, Serenity, Stricktly Business and Obsessed. He "dies" twice in Partners and five times after that. He lived 7 of his 9 lives. Though he was clearly alive at the end of Obsessed. So okay, he should do his 8th time in the movie and he has one left for the sequel.

I like the idea of Murdoc returning (again!) but how about just to warn Mac just before Murdoc himself is finally killed by someone even more sinister?? Sort of bumping up the evilness a bit. Also I do like the tirbute idea to Pete alot!

You know, the best way to have the movie is on how everything started. After all Murdoc brought Mac, Pete and Jack together in Partners. OK, so Pete's out of the picture most likely, more space for Nikki.
