Okay, so I've already posted a discussion question about what you would like to see if RDA gets cast in the MacGyver movie (as he rightly should). Now let's assume he doesn't get cast. If RDA is not in it, what would motivate/draw you to see the movie? I can already answer for myself by saying they would have to do a whole hell of a lot to convince me that the movie is going to be something special without RDA. sad.gif What are your opinions? If you are like me and would refuse to see the movie without RDA in the starring role, what could change your mind?

I could not agree more, you took the words right out of my mouth. I really don't know what they could do in order to not tick me off if there is no RDA, except hire me for the part, but that would really *oink* off every other Mac fan, especially the women! tongue.gif

I cannot think of any other senerio that would make me happy except RDA.

Curiosity would be the only thing that would draw me to the movie. And then only if it were in keeping with the tv show. I don't want to see some futuristic MacGyver floating around in space. We have enough of that already. sad.gif

Curiosity, but I'd probably wait until it came on TV and could see it without paying extra. I definitely don't think it would be worth buying a movie ticket for or renting a DVD.

Regardless of RDA or not, I don't think anything could get me to see this movie, if it actually goes forward. DVD? Sure. Theater? Somehow I think not.

The only thing that would make me see it either way would be morbid curiosity.

I just simply do not have high hopes at all about this.

I totally agree with that statement. I don't really think this project is going to be good. I mean they'd have to hire the same actors, hire the same writers, and make it really good to get me to like it. But I'll probably watch it to see if it's any good. cool.jpg And if it wasn't, I would be pretty ticked off. mad.gif blowup.gif

Curiousity indeed. It's not just that, it must be done the right way, or I should at least be able to see the crew of the movie had right intentions. They have to show they really wanted it or at least tried. Maybe a bad example but the first Alien vs Predator was disgrace to both franchises thanks to someone who's get nothing better to do but to make films out of games. Biggest disgrace: it was PG-13 and he raped Arnie's catch phrase from the first Predator. The second one was in my opinion better because it was more old school. R-rating: bad language and more blood and gore. Strange thing was the movie was made by two guys who worked on the special effects department of Predator 2, I think. And I could really see, they worked on it. OK, side stories are maybe not always good, but if I remember correctly, the main character had issues with his girlfriend, who was now dating some bully guy, who died anyway.

If RDA is not in it, it would be for the above reasons. I think I would go anyway because over the years I've always kept in mind that he might not be in it and I learned to accept that.

As I said in my Video if they are going to do a MacGyver movie they MUST have RDA as MacGyver to whatever extent they can. We have heard him say he's up for it now that SG-1 is done on a weekly basis so he should be the star for at least this movie and whatever sequel he wants to be in. Lets for fun, though, say he changed his mind or didn't like the script or whatever. In that case, then he would need to at least do a cameo as Mac and the movie could focus on SAM (ala Maverick (Mel Gibson)with James Garner as the original) who changed his last name to MacGyver when he found his dad. Last case scinario would be, if for whatever creative reason, RDA wanted nothing to do with it then it would have to still focus on SAM and he could mention his dad so we know it's the same continued story. The point I'm trying to make would be to continue the story from the show we all love and adore. There is nothing, NOTHING that needs to change as far as the history or how things are done. MacGyver is never out of date so the clock would never or should never be reset.

That's an intereresting idea... but it kind of scares me, too! happy.gif

DLZ has written some episodes of my favorite TV shows recently... I am confident that he's up to the job! He just needs to be locked in the shed with a word processor, a bag of Doritos, and a case of Dr. Pepper... or whatever fuel he employs to write. Personally I'm a coffee and chocolate-covered soynut writer!

Write, David! Write! Show us the Magic! MacG.gif cool.jpg

Rick writing it would be very interesting. Just to see his concept and take on the whole thing. We know he had alot more input into the later seasons, I think it would make for an entertaining and exciting plot. Not that the earlier seasons weren't great too, just want to see how RDA does at writing!

I love the idea of RDA writing anything since he's typically so creative but I boubt he would since when he does interviews and they mention how much he adlibs he always says he's never try to write anything because he wouldn't be able to see people go off script the way he does. However, I agree that it would be completely cool to see him that hands on with the movie:)

Hmm, Doritos! Mwaaaaggghhh!!!!
Darn, no drool smily.

I keep it with coca-cola and that's it. I never get to eat or have munchies while writing. I write between meals and don't eat candy a lot.

Lee David Zlotoff or RDA both got my full support and confidence. They should collaborate to write the script.
