I just can't get over the fact that Mac left Pete standing outside his house with a limo driver. I think it was cold and mean. Sam seemed to have more feeling for Pete then Mac did.

I would have liked to have seen the series end in a diner with Mac telling Pete that he was taking some time off to get to know Sam, and that they would let Pete know where they were, and what was going on. And then there were so many things they could've done with the series after RDA left. They could've had Jack Dalton come in as a Phoenix operative. They could've have shown how Pete was doing with his blindness. But just to drive off without even so much as a thank you to Dana Elcar was wrong. He deserved better. And I hope the fans know that.

Yeah but remember they where ending the series. Closing it down. not looking for a way to continue it.

Obviously the son angle gave them some leeway for a possible future project, but at the time the show was finished, so they wanted to give it a permanent ending.

I can see what MacBeth is talking about in her comments. And I think they did achieve the "this is the end of this part of MacGyver's life" sort of feel. But unfortunatly, to me, it felt pretty cold.

Me too. I just wish they hadn't left Pete standing out there. They could've ended the series. In a warmer tone and feeling.

I agree that they could have done better with the ending. Though not the case it did seem cold on Mac's part. I too think of when Mac was in the coma and when mac was blinded when Debrah blew his boat up, Pete was there and both times said he was the closest thing to family that MacGyver had. A two parter would have been good but maybe they left it up to us to finish. I can't watch that episode any more it is way too sad.

How does somebody drive off and leave a friend and father figure standing there? Also wasn't Mac's arm broken when he fell into the hull of the ship? It amazes me that Sam showed Pete more emotion then Mac did.

I know RDA had problems with his back and feet. But like I said Dana Elcar deserved as much of an emotional send off as RDA did, he was just as much a part of the show. It was like he was forgotten. They could've even given the limo driver a name. Just odd.

I never really thought about it until now, but you guys are right on, after such a spectacular series, the final 1 hour really deserved to be two, and should have had better writing behind it.

It would have been nice to know what the Pete's plans where after Mac and Sam drove off. They could've had a nice discussion about their adventures including Jack and Murdoc. And Pete could've warned them both that Murdoc was still out there somewhere.

Why would they even bother to give the limodriver a name? He's not important. I'm starting to think you're looking for things behind the stuff that's not even there.

Because it was time to go. Maybe they don't like having long goodbyes.

As I said before, maybe in this topic or in one of the others: we don't know how much time passed since the ship ending and them coming out of the garage. No way that was the next day and I don't think you can ride a motorcycle with a broken arm for at least six weeks. So there could've been at least more of month's passing and making the decision of hitting the road. Mac's resignation makes no sense whatsoever in these circumstances and than we come back at the goodbyes, maybe it was such short and maybe even a bit cold as we saw it because they said their goodbyes long ago during Mac's recovery of the broken arm.

Going back to work, carry on with his life.

Just forget it. I'm not saying have a long good by. But there should have been some warmth between Pete and Mac. It was just good by have a nice life see you around. Everyone seems to forget that Mac was there with Pete when he had his glaucoma surgery. And it would have been nice for the Mac to acknowledge that he and Sam were leaving to so that the driver could have assisted Mr. Thornton back into the car.

Hopeful Pete stayed in contect with MacGyver over the years.

I would like to think so. But we will never know, because it was never addressed. In any of the two MacGyver movies.

Most likely Mac and Pete stayed in touch over the years. It's too much of shame to just throw away a twelve year old friendship that way. But it's not because they didn't mention it in the movies, it never happened.

Thats cold.

It is too late for a rewrite but it really could have been done better in the first place. I also wonder if Mac would have been handicapped after his coma if pete would have left him on a street and drove off.

I remember Pete telling Mac "hold on friend, hold on" and holding Mac's hand.

Although I didn't like the final scene of the episode, I am glad that they left the series open. They didn't kill off all the characters or anything like that.

So it could have been much worse.

I agree 150%. I would have thought they would've have made more reuion type movies by now. I guess it wasn't thought of until someone suggested a big thearter type movie.

Well I remember that originally six tv-movies were planned but RDA only wanted to do two. (Now say 'to do two' really fast couple of times )

When I found out about that, I think it was a shame they didn't do all six of them as originally planned. There was still so much to do out there for Mac.

In a way I wished he did thoses six movies maybe one of them could of showed what it would be like without Pete and ect.
