A very high profile and generic video game company approaches you, a mere fan of MacGyver, and hands you the contract that grants you complete creative control for their latest project- MacGyver the video game. As if this odd situation was shocking enough, they tell you that RDA, Bruce McGill, and any other actor was available to do the voice-overs. Now what would the game be like? What genre? How would it play? What would the plot be? Try to answer as many of these questions as possible and many more.

Well I guess it would have to be a third person role-play styled game. I'm thinking along the lines of Syphon Filter type games

The third person perspective would mean the player would be able to work out and construct MacGyverisms as well as interacting with other characters, solve puzzles, workout the order thing shave to be done etc.

A mix with action/adventure and drama. Indeed in third person style with the abilities of the game Fahrenheit, AKA Indigo Prophecy and Indiana Jones. Which includes interacting with characters, talking to them, solving puzzles that way, finding things you are looking for, helping others out and doing favors. And of course doing lots of MacGyverisms, escapes, fighting and driving cars.

I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver.

I always thought "The Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon" was quite close to what a MacGyver game should be. For those who haven't played it, it's a third person graphic adventure, and the hero, George Stobbard (the player), needs to come up with lots of "inventive" ways to thwart his enemies, sneak into places, open locked doors, etc.

Hmmm... I think an action/adventure game would work better than an RPG. I just don't see leveling up Mac's strength/intelligence/etc to gain new powers really working well. The focus should be more on puzzles (creating inventive ways out of situations) and action (occasional car chases, etc.)

I would love sandbox style game, like GTA's. You could just hang around and Pete would call you if he need help... Diffrent stages like forest, city etc. then you could buy new SAKs... just dreaming... whistle.gif

I would say a mix of everything that was in the tv show, make it hard but not too hard.

To add to this, I think a plot line similar to Human Factor (maybe incorporating the pilot episode, or even Death lock) would be quite kewl.

Maybe something where you have to break into some secret compound find (or rescue) people and get out again, or maybe just escape from somewhere.

Human factor and Deathlock both seem very much like the old text adventure games to me, which is one of the things which hooked me into MacGyver, (I was a big adventure gamer when I was a kid) so I can see aspects of those episodes as games.
