Why does the character that played Mac, always seem to have an inventive roll in other movies unrelated to MacGyver. Did anyone else ever notice that.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'inventive'... can you give me an example?

I have a collection of material that RDA has been involved with... all that I can obtain. I'd happily discuss them with you. smile.gif

um... you'll have to explaine that.

His character of Jack O'Neill on Star Gate was anything but inventive.

No kidding -- there were always similarities, but RDA's post-MacGyver characters all had key differences. In Stargate, the brains of the team are definitely not O'Neill's!

In fact he deliberately tried to distance himself from the MacGyver character according to interviews he's done.

I think for most actors they do not want to be fixed or stereotyped as one type of character. David Duchovny who played Agent Fox Mulder in X-Files for 10 seasons took up the character of Hank Moody in Californication for the same reason, and as far as I concern he was successful in shaking off the old 'spooky' Mulder and becomes the 'sex-addict' Moody.

Distancing himself is indeed the word. Why do you think he played the bad guy in The Eyes of a Strangers or Through The Eyes of a Killer? Of course doesn't mean bad guys can't be inventive but I remember him playing Ray and fixing up a house in Through The Eyes of a Killer. Of course long time no see. But isn't that like everyone can do?

I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver.
