hello everyone. . . i'm primarily a lurker, and just registered so that i could make this post for those interested who may not be aware. i have a passion for watches and once owned (and have since found an exact replacement for) the Timex military wind up model (that Mac primarily wore early on) when i was about 10. anyway, i was watching "For love or money" the final season 2 episode and saw the watch he was wearing in it

i had seen the Timex replacement, but that's the quartz model and i wasn't willing to go with a "close enough"

The one you showed is also battery powered quartz according to the product features.

Interestingly it's also metal framed with what looks like a glass face cover, where the original "MacGyver" watch is fully plastic and easy to scratch.

i loved that watch as a kid and still have it in major non-working condition. i wanted an exact replacement (that works) for that watch and located one on ebay. . . the same exact watch (mechanical timex) as pictured in the link above.

now, it's clear that Mac didn't always wear that mechanical timex in every episode (as stated here under "watches": http://www.macgyveronline.com/pages/wardrobe.html

Is that trooper watch the same size as the Timex watch?

not sure if it's the same size. . . i don't have the trooper to personally measure and don't see any dimensions listed for it on amazon.

I suppose the Timex he wore wasn't exactly a camper model, then, but a military field model? I wonder if the version he wore is still readily available? It's probably my favorite MacGyver watch.

The version of Timex he wore is actually a Military issued field watch made for the US army and warn by solders during the Vietnam war.

The watch was made by Timex specifically for the army as a cheap disposable field watch. Because of the disposable nature of the watch, genuine versions of the watch are now antique collectors items, and priced accordingly.
