I am currently in the process of buliding a custom Mac doll, does anyone have any idea, which production figures G.I. Joes Scale I would be able to grab to get items like the jeans, body warmer satchel, etc. I been eBay eyesore looking at different dolls and havent quite been able to pull of more than some sneakers and a t shirt..lol, any help would be great

One of our members (Amy) is very into this kind of thing.

I'm trying to find the post she made with all the photos of how she changed a G.I.Joe to look like MacGyver.

So far I can only find a link to her photobucket which has the photos, but I thought there was a topic which talked about which G.I figures were used and stuff.

It might be in this topic somewhere if you have a look through it.

I really liked Amy's photo bucket its great work and thoroughly executed, Amy Pulled it off..
.....although I am going for a vintage body figure, so I need actually fabric top parts, would love to know where the toy SAK came from though as I think that's going to be the toughest find.

Hi there! A fan after my own heart, bashing MacGyver and GI Joe together! Rock gave me a heads up about your questions since I've been AWOL lately and maybe I can point you in the right direction. It sounds like you're looking to do a 12" (1/6) scale figure, right? Do you have the figure you're using already and just need the gear? Are you planning to alter the figure at all? I'm curious what you're going to use, especially for the head! If you want to and have a pic of the look you're going for, you can post it here or PM it to me and that might help me help you more.

Let me know for sure and I'll be able to gather some links for you to resources that might be helpful. To be honest, you're going to be better off buying the accessories you need piecemeal, rather than buying complete figures and then scavenging what you need. That can get expensive and then unless you plan to do more custom figures, you'll end up with a lot of stuff you'll never use.

I'm currently working on a 3.75 inch version of MacGyver from a GI Joe and the Mac in the Photobucket album is going to be reworked some, soon, I hope. That Mac is from a Sigma 6 GI Joe figure, which are about 8 inches tall and more anime/cartoonish. I imagine that's how Mac might look animated. Since I finished him, I ordered a custom made jacket and so I want to make some modifications. I'm not sure if my source for that does 12" stuff or not, but it would be a great way to get pretty much exactly what you're looking for.

I know I probably have several threads for both Macs, as well as the Murdoc I did, but I'll have to take time later to find them for ya.

Realized I didn't answer your question about the SAK. I custom made that from a Sigma 6 butterfly knife. The thing with Sigma GI Joes is that most of the gear is exagerated in size, so that would work for a 12" scale figure, too, and probably be more accurate. It's only got one blade, but it does fold into the handle, so it's a good approximation. I might be able to work with you on something like that if you're interested, but as far as I know you won't find a toy SAK. I haven't anyway. A friend of my son's found a miniature SAK style knife, but I think it's probably still too big.
