Just a little something that I got thinking about. Couple of days ago I saw the movie Wyatt Earp with Kevin Costner. I think I need to give the movie a second chance because I wasn't that impressed and it was a long three hour movie. Anyway with the character Costner played I somehow made a connection to the Serenity episode.

Wyatt Earp was known for being a policeman a county sheriff, a teamster, buffalo hunter, bouncer, saloon-keeper, gambler, brothel owner, pimp, miner, and a boxing referee according to Wikipedia. Now being all that do you think the Wyatt character in Serenity was supposed to be based on Wyatt Earp? Everybody knew the bartender in the Red Dog Saloon as Wyatt and he was also the sheriff of the town until he laid down the badge of course when meeting Murdoc.

Or is this either being a coincidence that they both are called Wyatt? Thoughts? Ideas?

Given the series' history of schmoozing with popularity. YES!

I liked Tombstone, a lot better than Wyatt Earp btw. Also, Star Trek Season 3, Episode 6 - Spectre of the Gun is a take off on the famous gunfight at the OK corral - a top ten episode of that series imo.

Incidentally, you can still experience that atmosphere of the old west for yourself through the many replica towns and theme parks operating. When I was in Las Vegas last - I took a drive out to http://bonniesprings.com/activities/old-town/
Bonny Springs. Really cool - have a shot of whiskey at the saloon, 'ladies' wink at you and vie for your attention, dubious gunslingers study you, throw a shoulder into you and advise you that there's to be a hanging at 12:30 and you'd 'better' be there of else. Of course these characters are all actors and giving you value added of what it was like back in the day. Don't miss it if you are ever close to one of these parks/stages.
