What would you do if you looked over as the elevator doors closed and saw RDA standing there beside you?
The look on the guys face in this commercial got me thinking about what I would do if I found myself in the same situation of being in an elevator with RDA.

Hilarious!!!
Now, that was funny!!!
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.
Not sure if I'd even recognize him. That's one thing I wonder about those commercials-- How many people do you think even realize who he is when they see these commercials? He looks so different these days from how he looked on MacGyver. I showed it to a friend who used to watch MacGyver quite a lot back in the 80s, and his reaction was, "I don't get it. Who's the old guy?"

even though he obviously has put more than a few pounds I dont have a problem with how he looks now, pretty good for a guy his age (60). The only thing that disturbs me a bit is how he sounds nowadays. His voice has become extremely high pitched compared to what he sounded on MG. But I'll always love the guy, no matter how he looks, or sounds, hes like a friend Ive never spoken to
I don't have any problem with how he looks either. Hell, I hope I hold up that well by the time I'm his age. But the fact is, he looks quite different (as we all do) compared to how he looked 20 years ago. So I'm just wondering if the average tv viewer would know what the commercial is supposed to be referencing. It never mentions MacGyver, and it doesn't even REALLY hint at any sort of MacGyver-ism. The Mastercard commercial was great because even though it never specifically said "MacGyver", the reference was still very clear (plus, RDA looked a lot more like his younger self back then.) This commercial, on the other hand, is just two guys standing in an elevator, and the heavier one is eating a plate of chicken (kind of an odd thing to be doing in an elevator.)

Actually, I had that happen. It was at the "Meet the Man' event back in August. I was in the elevator going back to my room for lunch, and the lift stopped to let someone else on. It turned out to be RDA and his "keeper" for the event.
I didn't say anything as they were talking and I didn't want to interrupt. Even if it had just been him, I probably would have clammed up anyway. I suppose there's the small talk like the weather and such. Or maybe something related to "The Simpsons" or "Family Guy" (gigity).
I will admit that for the first time in my life, I wished for the elevator to get stuck, even for a few minutes. And I HATE elevators.
It was a brief moment of sharing a small space with my hero. I didn't say anything, but I did finally figure out his hat said "woof" on it

*sigh* What I would give to be in an elevator with RDA! I envy all of you who have seen him in person, or spoke with him. Although if I did have the opportunity, I know I would have no idea what to say, and probably just wind up staring stupidly at him.

yep. It would be nice to have the chance to have even a quick one-on-one time with him.
I think I would just quickly say to him something like "Hey, thanks for playing MacGyver the way you did. You really impacted my teenage life and shaped my adult life. MacGyver really taught me a lot about being a decent human being and I know a lot of that stuff came from you. So thanks for giving me someone to look up to."
And hopefully I'd shake his hand as I said thanks to him.
Of coarse if the dream would be to have the elevator stopped between floors and get a real chance to talk to him properly.
You know...I would probably do a double take and stare for a few seconds. Then I would say something like "Whoa...are you...? Uh...hi..." or some thing completely idiotic like that and then awkwardly walk off feeling totally embarrassed.

If I was that elevator guy, I'd probably would wait until either one of us say something.

Or better yet, have him open the ceiling of the elevator, and then scale the elevator shaft with him, like in "Two Times Trouble." THEN you'd have a really cool story to post here!

I think I'd have to bite the heck out of my lip to keep from smiling like goon. Heh. I think that's all my reaction would be, I wouldn't ask for an autograph or anything, I don't collect those. Happy memories of watching the show as a kid, then finding myself standing next to Mac, that'd be awesome, I couldn't help but smile.

Better question would be what would you do if your standing in the bathroom doing your thing and he walks in? Sorry men only.

If I didn't know that was RDA, I wouldn't have recognized him. Even the joke about "using the food to get us out of here" wouldn't necessarily have tipped me off. And I can't be the only one here who thought "Wait a minute, MacGyver would never eat fried chicken and fries". (Seriously, that bit would make it that much less likely that I'd recognize him!)
They've got guns. All I have is orange juice and a rope...
Don't know what i do, I more then likely do a double take and say hello and ask him hows hes doing and more then likely wouldn't say anything else unless he spoke again. I'm shy i can't help it

I would probably stare for a minute then talk to him. I can be shy at first, then I talk and talk. I'd also get his autograph on my MacGyver note book (which I always keep with me).

I have been very lucky to meet quite a few stars through the years. Many from Stargate( at the cons), even rode in an elevator with a one or 2 and I've reminded myself to stay mature and calm. My fear is that I might be too excited and perhaps come on too strong. That tends to put a actor/fan wall up between people. Luckily I've treated them like potential friends (as I try to do with everyone I met) and the result has been a wonderful relationship with great people who feel comfortable with me. If they see me more then once they remember me from year to year and approch me and that is an amazing blessing.
I like to think that I would conduct myself in the same fashion with RDA. I feel a kinship with him like when you know you would just naturally hit it off with someone you see. I, like many I'm sure, have had dreams through the years that involve either meeting him or being on an adventure (only to wake up with an "Awwwww, it was only a dream) and I, being a mature 36 year old, would like to think I could surpress my urge to run up and hug him and gush with praise...I'd like to think.
On that note, I got to meet my first idol, The Fonz(Henry Winkler), a year or so ago and when I had a moment , besides kidding around with him while he was on stage, I was able to calmly and sincerly express my gratitude for all he has ment to me. I said "I wanted to thank you for 1: Being my first idol as the Fonz. 2: Giving me my next idol with MacGyver and 3: Being an even bigger rolemodel in real life then the Fonz could ever be". He seemed sincerly touched and it was a wonderful moment between us amid the crowds of people that were there to see him:)

If I ran into RDA somewhere at random, I'd probably smile and introduce myself, tell him I still love MacGyver, and maybe politely ask for an autograph if circumstances were right (ie, if he didn't seem to be in a rush or otherwise occupied). I'd be nervous as heck, of course, but from everything I've heard, he seems to be a genuinely nice guy. Then I'd thank him, wish him well, and go on about my day with a huge smile on my face that you'd have to smack me to get rid of!!
