Many continue to request the music on a CD from the TV series. For now you can visit Randy Edelman's site and listen to many of his fine scores for movies and tv. His best TV score was for Brisco County Jr. You can hear this theme right above the MacG theme at http://www.randyedelman.com/tv/tv.htm. Although the site says he cannot respond to requests for info there is a FAQ where you can let him know you would like to see MacG on CD NOW. Film Score Monthly FSM has released quite a few older TV scores lately including I Spy and Hawaii 5-0 so MacG is not an unreasonable request for them in conjunction with Randy and the studio which currently owns the master tapes to the recordings. At one time a massive soundtrack was hosted on this site, I still have all the songs in my itunes. It would be nice to have originals that would be longer and not have voiceover from the episodes. The music seemed to always be changing and different (like the many variations of the opening theme), MacGyver seemed to have some crazy massive budget for music to be able to dedicate that much time to it. We need to email the heck out of everyone involved with the show's production that would remember, they're not getting any younger :/ It always fascinates me how much info we'd all love to hear is just walking around in the heads of people in LA and Vancouver.

I second MacDriver and let's not forget that MacGyver had several composers for the episodes. Randy Edelman made the theme songs and composed several of the earlier season episodes. I think Lost Love was his last one. From then on it was mostly a switch between Ken Harrison, Dennis McCarthy and in season 6 William Ross joined the team.

Rock the Cradle was done by a one time composer I think.

Hi everyone, im a huge fan and am currently watching re-runs on TV.

Anyway i am trying to find out the name of a song/music that s featured in many episodes, especially when Macgyver is doing something like defusing a bomb or trying to get out of a sticky situation or just on a mission doing something. One example of this music is in season 3 on Ghost ship where he is making the oars so he can row across to the abandoned ship. It plays in a lot of episodes though. Pretty sure i heard it in 'fraternity of theives' the otherday.

I have downloaded the complete soundtrack off this site but was surprised to not find it in there either when it is such a common piece of music that is in a lot of episodes.

Can anyone help me ID or find it? I have looked on you tube but dont really know what to try other than 'macgyver music' and that mostly brings up the intro song

Is that the music that sounds a bit like the opening bars of Bon Jovi's 'Livin On A Prayer'? The first few seconds of that song sound a lot like the music played in many MacGyver episodes - and Fraternity Of Thieves was one of those episodes.

The music is whats called incidental music and was written and played purely as background music for those episodes, therefore it has no name and will not be commercially available.

The best you will be able to do is find a scene with a decent length of the music and record it for yourself to listen to.

It's not much, but it's as good as you'll get I'm afraid.

Ahh thats a shame. Oh well thanks anyway. I really need to get the DVD set then and find where it plays in decent length.

yep. It could be that the reason it wasn't added to our playlist is because the music is only heard in short bursts before other sounds override it, but that's just a guess at this stage.

Let us know if you find a decent length of the music.
