I've recorded my voicemail message to be the same as the one we hear on MacGyver's answer machine in season 3

"...we all know how these things work so wait for the tone...etc". Obviously I've substituted his name with my own name, but otherwise it's the same.

Anyway over time I've had a number of people comment that they like (or more commonly love) my message, which has got me wondering if anyone else here has used a MacGyver message and if you've had any comments about it.

I did this for a while too. One person said, "Your message is really cheesy" and my dad said that it was not professional enough. after about a year, I changed it to something standard. I like it as my message, though.

Why does a voice message on your own personal phone have to be professional? I can understand that comment if it's a work phone, but who cares if it's your home phone.

Cheesy? Did you tell them the cheese is to go with their whine?

I don't have an answering machine, and when I did, I couldn't figure out how to program the darn thing so I could put Mac's message on it! I would have left giving out my name, I'd just leave it saying 'You've reached MacGyver' and see what people think when they hear that haha.
