I went for a hike today up a local mountain stream and stopped at a small waterfall to have my lunch. I'd intended to pack a couple of tea bags so I could have a cup of tea with my sandwiches, however when I went to get them I found I had left the tea bags at home. What I did have though was an orange, a rather sweet juicy orange too. So while the water heated up I sat and eat the orange, then once the water boiled I dropped the orange skin into the water and after a couple of minutes of soaking I had a very nice gentle orange flavored hot drink which, as it turns out, was much nicer than a cup of normal tea.
To be fair the idea for this really came from Man vs Wild. I've seen Bear Grylls make cups of tea using leaves from various plants on occasion, so I thought I'd try re-using the orange peels rather than just throw them away. I did use my SAK to cut the orange skin so it would break evenly into quarters.
