Exactly, Kiwitek! They chose that angle because that way the houseboat was hidden behind the far corner of the Phoenix Building. The first time I was in Vancouver, in 2008, I was surprised to find that the houseboat had been so close to the Phoenix Building. I posted about this in another thread (can't remember which one), and tried to add some pictures, with the building in the background as a reference, but didn't succeed. I never seem to be able to post pictures here, grrr. Anyway, another surprise was that the new marina isn't that much different from the old one. It's mainly the waterfront that has changed, the marina itself has stayed pretty much the same. That's why it was fairly easy to reconstruct the place where the houseboat had been.
