Cool. Looks workable, all except for the circuit-board-as-spear idea. I've fiddled with electronics my whole life and don't think I've ever seen a board strong enough to do that. You might get one jab out of it before it breaks. Not saying you couldn't do it, but you'd probably be better off with a plain sharp stick.

I just noticed the link was broken in the post. I've just fixed it so you should all be able to click the image and see the full article.

It's not a spear. It's a fishing hook! laugh.gif

The section 5 part, it tells you to sharpen and shape the circuit board into an arrowhead and attach it to a stick. I've never taken a smartphone apart, but I'm assuming the board in those is super thin like an ipod, so that would make it even less workable.

Oh yeah, your right. Those are 2 different things. I thought it was 2 steps to the same process.

Maybe your prey/victim after being pierced by such a "circuit board arrowhead", could then be expected to (hopefully) die a slow and painful death from lead poisoning from the solder on that circuit board ???

Come back in a month or three to check on the results of one's handiwork..

Those tips are actually pretty nice to know. If I ever get lost and my phone has no signal, at least it can still be useful...

...stupid smartphone...

Personally, I really should make a survival kit for my truck. I only drive main roads, so I never have to worry about lack of reception on my phone. Do we have a thread like that? Make-shift survival car kits that maybe MacGyver would have? If not we should have one. lol
