I just found this picture of a model of the inside of the observatory.

I've been trying to work out where they filmed the MacGyver kitchen scene but it's a bit hard as the interior has been remodeled, but I'm thinking it might have been the area in the left of the picture.

They went and used a telescope at an observatory on Stargate SG1 too (episode 1969), it reminded me of the one Mac was living in for the Pilot. I wonder if it's the same one since much of SG1 was filmed in Vancouver as well.
