I can see if my Dad knows... my Dad is a retired electrical engineer and we actually had a conversation about the scene in Negotiator where Mac electrocutes Debra, which was a similar rig. He said that using the fluid (which was anti-freeze) and hooking up the jumper cables to the ignition of his Jeep would be enough to knock out Debra, not kill her. There's not enough juice (or shouldn't be) to kill.
If the train is the same, and since he didn't use any fluid as a conductor, it probably wasn't enough to kill him. But, my Dad seemed to know all the numbers with the Debra conversation, he probably would know about the train as well. I'll update this tomorrow when I find out. :3 I think when dealing with electricity, there's always a risk... which was probably why Mac was warning him. There's always the chance the person can be killed... depending on circumstances.
Mac tried to warn him and I don't think what he rigged up was intended to kill anyone. If it did, it was purely accidental.
The whole thing with Glass always baffled me. I just presumed he let it happen because he didn't have a choice. He fell onto the conveyor during the fight, but he was able to overpower Glass. There really wasn't any place for him to go and may have just been looking for a way off so HE didn't fall to his death. He may have thought Glass would get off on his own or something.
Glass' death is like Victoria's death in Phoenix Under Siege when she tried to kick him out the window. Instead, Mac just got out of the way and she flew out the window to her death. Both villains were over-confident in their abilities and not very bright...
I look at it as Mac just trying to protect himself. Not his fault the villains were idiots.
