I made the Whole wheat banana pancakes NightTinkerer posted in the "You know you watch MacGyver a lot when..." thread. Very good. Sweet taste, no need for maple sirup or anything.
I remember MacGyver making pancakes ("Runners"?) I wasn't sure if I should add mashed bananas to the batter or sliced bananas to the pancakes. "Norwegian style" with brown cheese.

For those of you who don't know what brown cheese is: Brown cheese in the news Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks that brown cheese goes well with bananas (as mentioned in the last paragraph of the article).

Hey! Nice idea! Those are two things Mac eats (or makes) that I always wanted to try. The pancakes and the casserole. I wouldn't mind giving the alfalfa sprouts a shot... well... at least once.
Though, I'm curious... how did Mac make his tofu casserole? It looks nothing like the pictures I've seen on the internet. O_o

Basically it looks exactly like regular refried beans like you get straight from a can from any grocery store. I'm not an expert on tofu, but I have cooked with it and had it with quite a few meals, and it's never resembled Mac's dish.

OMG sprouts are SO GOOD on a sandwich! But nowadays it's hard to find them in a restaurant after the big E. Coli freak-out fear-mongering scare a number of years ago. A few stores still stock them though, or you can make your own, it's not that hard.
What's the big deal about brown cheese, how is that so odd? I love cheese with green and blue mold growing through it, so brown sounds pretty tame. There's a small mexican fast food chain around here (Taco Johns) that use to serve a hard flat taco shell covered in apple pie filling and topped with cinnamon and cheddar cheese. Cheese & apples sound hideous, but it was delicious!
BTW, you pan-a-cakes are kinda shaped like insoles out of shoes. lol

I know! maybe he mashed the tofu?
Or the dish we see Mac making is actually something else and they just tell us it's tofu.
I did a tofu cassorole once, just whipped it up really. Took firm tofu, mashed it, added spinach (frozen but thawed) and then basically add whatever else you want. bake for awhile at 350is until done. It's not hard but can be on the bland side though which is what you get with tofu. Been a vegetarian for over 15yrs and I rarely cook with that much tofu, LOL!

From the episode "The Eraser":
Pete finds a bowl of what he thinks is yogurt in MacGyver's fridge. Pete: "This is great. Did you make this?" Mac: "You're supposed to heat it." Pete: "I like it cold." Mac: "I didn't think you'd go in for whipped bean curd."
Finding a recipe for warm whipped bean curd turned out to be difficult. The best I came up with is Bean curd pudding. Can be served warm (it regains liquid state!) or cold. I tried to make it look like a panda. Recipe

The thing about brown cheese is that it's made differently from ordinary cheese (including the blue and green hairy kinds!) so that it's sweet.
Wikipedia would have you believe that it's almost exclusively a Norway thing, and that it's one of those things you either love or hate, a bit like marmite. I've not seen any here in England and so now I'm curious... Bold and nosy, if you like

Yes, it's different. Brown cheese is made of whey that has boiled for hours. The curd has been removed.
I like to think that it's typical Norwegian of course, however I think they have it (or something similar) in Sweden and in the Alps as well

I think I'd like brown cheese.
My mom has been wanting banana nut bread for some time, dropping subtle hints ("Man, I'm craving for some banana nut bread. " *glances at Yope*), since she knows I love to cook. XD Can anyone recommend a good recipe?

Just made some whole wheat banana nut bread. It just came out of the oven so I'm not sure how it tastes yet.
UPDATE: It tasted pretty good, surprisingly. You really couldn't taste the whole wheat at all (my sisters aren't too crazy about whole wheat). I is happy x3. Lol, my first time making it. My specialty is still VERY unhealthy peanut butter fudge, and a Philippine dish (lumpiang shanghai).

It's really good, MDB! It's usually made as muffins but I just made a loaf. Here's the recipe I used: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-ne...cipe/index.html I just replaced the unbleached flour with whole wheat flour. This is the "healthiest" recipe I could find. X3 Note: It does taste better if you put it in the fridge and eat it the next day.

Vegetarian burgers I found this recipe in a magazine (can't remember which one) years ago. Originally it isn't very accurate (it says 1 potato, 2 carrots...) and this was the first time I weighed the ingredients. You don't have to do that, though. These burgers always turn out good, if you like celery. My sister doesn't and it rarely occured at the dinner table in our home.
I'm used to grams and deciliters. However, here is a Weight converter and a Volume converter You need: 1 large boiled potato (150 g) 2 carrots (200 g) A piece of celery root (100 g) 1 small onion/ 2-3 shallots (50 g) 4-5 slices of beetrot, I used hermetic 2 tablespoons of capers 2 eggs - Save some for the hamburger breads if desired 50 g cheese 2 tablespoons of potato flour 2 tablespoons of chives 1/2 teaspoon of thyme 4-5 sundried tomatoes (If they're not in oil already, put them in oil or water for a while to soften) Salt and pepper Peel the potato and cut it into small cubes. Grate carrots, cheese and celery. Chop onion, beetroot and sundried tomatoes. Mix all ingredients together and form burgers. (I made 9) Fry at medium/high temperature for a couple of minutes on each side till they gain a nice colour. Then turn the heat down and let the burgers fry for about 5 minutes or till they are cooked throughout. To be served in ... ...Hamburger breads 2.5 dl milk - 37 °C 2 teaspoons of dry yeast (I believe there are more than one sort - check package for amount ) 2 tablespoons of oil 3.5 dl whole wheat flour 3.5 dl wheat flour - save some for forming the breads 1 teaspoon of salt
Knead and let the dough rise for 30 minutes. Form hamburger breads (I made 9) and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Brush with egg or milk and sprinkle with sesam seeds. Bake at 225°C for 8-10 minutes.
Notice the alfalfa sprouts
