Ok, I live in a tiny town called Bogan Gate, (I don't mind if you laugh and yes there is actually a town called that) near a town called Parkes.

Parkes is known for the Elvis Festival in January every year

and it is also famous for "The Dish".

It played a part in Apollo 11 and had a movie made about it, if you want more information aboout it, there's more here.
I went to the dish today, The Parkes Observatory...
The last time I was there was when the dish turned 50. I sang in Opera At The Dish, I was in the choir.

That was when I got my autograph from Helen Barnett. This is a photo of our choir.

Candylol should remember this...

FYI none of these photos are mine.

omg io loved those days i loved the songs we had to sing i miss all the drama of us four being together in the chior )

Thanks for sharing those very nice images & facts on your part of the world.

[AussieMacFan]

Indeed. It's a pretty good community out here.

[MDBfan]

Population 200
Compared to that I live in a BIG city

[AussieMacFan]

I honestly don't think there's even that many…

[YopeGyver]

Wowzers! I'm jealous now xD. I want to live in a small town again! I used to live in a pop. 1, 000 town; and most of that was farms. Now I live in a 118, 000 population city. XP

[AussieMacFan]

I love it out here. My mum doesn't think I should have put where I live on the Internet, neither do I really but I don't care.
If anyone has any questions about Parkes or Bogan Gate, feel free to ask! I love answering questions!

[AussieMacFan]

Ok I promised I'd put at least one photo up from walking on Wednesday afternoon.
Meet danamaree, with part of Parkes in the background:

the pictures are sideways

[AussieMacFan]

sorry about that I posted them straight from my ipod.

I just fixed that.

[Joe SAKic]

You guys have awfully large rabbits down there. Also - is that a tornado touching down .... or did you accidentally drip some ice cream on to your lens?

[YopeGyver]

Way cool, Aussie!! Do you see kangaroos like that often? I wanna come visit! 'Round here, we get deer, dogs, foxes, possums, rabbits, that cross the country roads (no pun intended), and just last week it was a coyote. You don't see them out in the open often.

[AussieMacFan]

Well, no it wasn't a tornado or I've cream, just the dirty wind screen of my mum's car. Yeah we see kangaroos around a fair bit. A lot of road kill. You sometimes see foxes, sometimes tortoises, plenty of birds, wallabies, occasionally echidnas, and some other pretty interesting animals.

[YopeGyver]

What's an echidna? Lol, I mostly only know my North American wildlife. I'd be in heaven if I was watching all those neat animals! (can you tell I love wildlife? XD even spiders, though I'm not crazy about snakes)

[AussieMacFan]

Echidnas are pretty weird animals but there is plenty of information about themhere
Hope that helps.
We get some snakes on the roads too, oh and of course rabbits and hares. Hmm, a lot of the animals are road kill that you see on the road. But if your out and about you can see plenty live. Kinda sad but that's life.

[YopeGyver]

Aww! They're cute xD

[AussieMacFan]

Indeed, they certainly are different.

[AussieMacFan]

Well, I wasn't sure where else to post this but anyway, today I went to my primary school's annual fete. They usually have a few old cars there and this is what I spotted: (it's even the right colour! )

[YopeGyver]

Want!!! XD
I used to go to old car shows with my uncle all the time. Loved it.

[AussieMacFan]

I got so excited when I saw it, I almost missed this actually because the guy was leaving just as I got there!

[AussieMacFan]

This is one of my many random photos... I took this a few days ago on the way home from school.

[Ross999]

Amy, I have never seen a tortoise around here. Never. I thought they lived in the ocean. Ooops!

[YopeGyver]

Beautiful photo, Aussie! =D

Ross999, tortoises are land animals, it's the sea turtles that are down by the ocean. :3 (Sorry if I'm butting in xD)

[AussieMacFan]

Don't worry Yope, that's exactly what I was going to say.
Oh and thank you.

[YopeGyver]

You're welcome. Now...CAN WE SEE MORE!!?

[AussieMacFan]

More of my photography?

[YopeGyver]

Yes yes yes! Really, your photography skills are way better than mine and I love nature photos. :3

[AussieMacFan]

Oh, thank you. I just take photos on my iPod...
I have a few good ones on my computer but I'm on my iPod at the moment. I'll see what I have on here...
