A top MTA executive channeled TV’s “MacGyver” when he helped rescue two people trapped in a vehicle that slammed into a garbage truck and burst into flames on the Verrazano Bridge on Monday morning.

“I did a MacGyver kind of thing. I looked around and said, ‘What is going to help me in this environment?’ I saw the winch (on the garbage truck) and said, ‘I could use this.’"
