Nearly all of us either have, or are working on getting, the full series of MacGyver on DVD. But what other shows are in your collection?

I received the full series of Man From Atlantis in the mail today.

So my list now includes...
  • Knight Rider - TOS
  • Knight Rider 2008
  • 6 Million Dollar Man
  • StarGate SG:1
  • The Flash
  • Man vs. Wild
  • Home Improvement
  • The West Wing
  • SeaQuest DSV
  • Lois & Clark - The New Adventures of Superman
  • The Big Bang Theory (up to current available DVD season)
  • Street Hawk
  • Duke of Hazzard (season 2)
  • Chips (season 1)
  • Burn Notice (in progress)
  • Myth Busters (in progress)

There's a bunch of others which are either scattered seasons or I haven't decided if I want to collect the whole show yet.

What about the rest of you.. whats in your collections of shows on DVD or recordings?

Right now, I'm a little back into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Just handselecting a couple of episodes mostly the bigger story arcs.

But in my collection there is:

Ally McBeal (in the beauty case so I have all seasons). Haven't seen it yet, bought a couple of year ago. Main reason was it was of the producer of Picket Fences a show that was never released in Europe on dvd, sadly.

Arrested Development.

Burn Notice season 1. Only seen a few episodes a long time ago.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (season 2-7). Still need to find season 1 and 8. A couple of Mac-actors appear in some episodes like Mayim Bialik, Joh Pleshette who played Lancer in D.O.A. MacGyver and Keone Young who played Chung in The Stringer.

Entourage (First five seasons).

I also have couple of Belgian comedy series. One is called 'Familie Backeljau'. It's about a family called 'Backeljau'. You can compare it a little with Married With Children. It's about a loud dysfunctional family. There's the loud and lazy father who works as a mason, his big chubby redhead wife who is actually the most normal one, his blond low IQ'd daughter who finds a job as a cop and just enjoys writing parking tickets. There is the son who is gay but doesn't know it yet and there is the deranged grandmother with the dog who gets the blame for everything she does wrong. There is also the wife's sister whom the father can't stand but he adores his little cousin. 5 years old in his first episode and shows more intelligence that the whole family together. And than you have the daughter's older Italian boyfriend, who seems the have some connection with the mafia. And there is also the son's girlfriend whose family owns a chain store of chip stalls. She has six brothers that form the local motorcycle gang first disliking her boyfriends family but later they reconcile and the grandmother becomes their leader. And finally there is also their neighbour. An old skinny man still living with his mother who calls the cops for the least problem causing more problems with his neigbours.

Note: The grandmother and father are played by the same actor as he does with some other roles and he also wrote the show. The actors that played the father and the wife were in real life married at that point. They got divorced later. The kid that plays the little cousin is their actual son.

The second show Belgian show I have is called F.C. De Kampioenen or F.C. The Champions. It's about a smalltime cafe soccer team with a bad reputation because they always lose. Though they won matches throughout it's run. Leading characters are the team's trainer, captain, goalman, chairman, their wives and kids, and the antagonist. The show ran for 21 years and now a movie is in the making. I can actually say I grew up with the show. The filming started in 1989 and the first episode was aired in the fall of 1990. I was only in my second year of kindergarten. I followed it through my whole elementary and high school career and when I started working. But I have to admit from the last three or four seasons I haven't watched many episodes. There are constant reruns during the summer vacation with still high ratings after all these years. If I get the chance I'll buy the big box someday. Oh and one of the actresses come to shop every now and than in my store, she even adressed me once. No attitude, real down to earth but of course she comes to shop not to talk about her career.

Than I have the first two seasons of Happy Days.

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys season 1. Other season were never released.

Magnum PI.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Nip/Tuck season 1 and 5.

North and South.

The Shield.

The Simpson season 1 and one with a couple of Halloween Specials.

Another Belgian series called 'Vermist'. It's about the missing persons unit from the Belgian police. Personally one of the better Belgian shows like all those CSI shows or something. We can say it's a little American. There are gunfights, fist fights, a little torture. It's interesting to see how they conduct their investigations. First they go to someone ask some questions, than they take someone in for questioning, than it appeared one of them lied they need to find out why. And you've got all kind of character. Their captain, who has been long enough in the field to know how what works, the married woman, who needs to find a balance between work and family, the single pretty girl, the computer nerd and the typical bad cop.

And finally there is Xena Warrior Princess.

I still like to get my hands on the missing seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage and Nip/Tuck. I also would like to have Seinfeld, mostly because of the mentions in Curb, The Soprano's because of the late James Gandolfini and on mini-series Band of the Brothers and The Pacific.

I have not collected all the series I would like to collect as I am just now discovering that they have been released on DVD (i.e. Emergency, Chips).

I currently have:

MacGyver (complete)
Stargate SG-1 (seasons 1-6)
Battlestar Galactica (original series)
Star Trek: Next Generation (much of it on VHS, though I don't watch them. I want to get this one on DVD too)
Star Trek Enterprise (complete)

Star Trek is also something that has gotten my attention, especially due to the latest strong sequel.

I'm thinking about bying MASH. However, there are many seasons... As for now, I watch reruns.

I have:
  • MacGyver
  • The first three seasons of Modern Family
  • Black Adder
  • The first season of Shaun the Sheep
  • Klovn (a Danish sitcom)
  • Season 2 of Lois and Clark - The new adventures of Superman. Because Michael Des Barres played the villain in one episode. happy.gif I hadn't seen Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane in a long time!
  • Three Norwegian Christmas calendar series
  • And - with the risk of sharing too much with you - some episodes of Sunset Beach on VHS. blush.gif Needless to say, watching it now is not the same.

Go to amazon.com and type in names of TV shows you like to see if they are on DVD or not. If they show up in the search results you know they are available.

I actually have very few TV shows. I don't even own MacGyver on DVD. lol I know, right?

I DO own a LOT of Anime and only a few TV shows on DVD, which happen to be:

Angel
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Rurouni Kenshin
Ronin Warriors
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Outlaw Star
Blue Seed
and probably a couple others I forgot.

I REALLY want Viper on DVD, but it's never been released. Jeff Kaake was in Seasons 2 and 3 of Viper as well, so I know who that is! lol I will eventually get MacGyver on DVD, but since it's on Netflix (along with most of my favorite shows), I really have no need to go out and buy them... yet. lol Savin' my pennies for my Jeep! happy.gif

I'm a big movie and documentary collector( love the older NatGeo shows and that intro/bumper music too) .... but don't have too much in the way of TV Serials though. I do have the Fawlty Towers collection, Star Trek(TOS) and (so far) the first three seasons of MacGyver. Oh, I picked up SNL - The Complete First Season - recently.

The good news is that alot of these DVD releases are now showing up in thrift shops and if I see something that really piques my interest - I'm gonna grab it for sure. Really love the nostalgic angle of these releases - those (now) aging shows so define a place/time/era and it's fun to be quickly taken back for an hour or two.

Sadly, some of the better Canadian serials and that I grew up with did not do so well on the international scene and thus have not been copied to date. I'm thinking of 'The Beachcombers' in particular which aired for 18 years and had beautiful (and familiar to MacGyver fans) BC coastline cinematography as the constant backdrop.

That aired here in New Zealand when I was a kid. I remember the opening scenes with all the logs in the water. Can't remember anything else about it though. I see it had Jackson Davies in it though, that's Detective Mike Kiley to us. smile.gif
