okay, now that we got the wiseguy comment out of the way-
I must say this is something I never really thought about much- I mean, I don't think they explicitly depict or mention MacGyver using deodorant or after shave or whatever- but I'm sure he uses that when he wants to look nice for a date or function or something- but I think he probably does prefer just being a bit more "natural" as it were for the most part. I don't think he's the kinda guy that cares all that much about his appearance (or anyone else's for that matter). And I mean that in a good sense- not that he's a slob, but he's not a clothes horse either.

I'm sure he probably uses deodorant--in Good Knight MacGyver he expresses his disgust for Merlin's lack of deodorant ("Man, you could use a deodorant!" ). Beyond that, I can't picture him as an aftershave or colongne kind of man. He probably smells like fresh air from the outdoors, kind of like RDA. Someone that met him on one of the boards said he had a natural, clean smell to him--nothing fancy. That's probably how MacGyver is as well--no frills, no chemical enhancements.

He probably has a pleasant smell since he's a fan of deodorant (GKM) and doesn't enjoy smelling like a monkey cage (The Survivors.).
Otherwise?

Deodorant and maybe aftershave when shaved. Than again how many times could he have used it when being on assignment all the time or spending days in the woods. You guys noticed he didn't wash or brushed his teeth in Ghost Ship or The Survivors or The Invisible Killer or all his other wilderness adventures? But then again why should he, in nature everything smells natural.

I'm with Loth. I can't even organize or verbalize my thoughts on this subject, let alone communicate them to another...I believe my answer shall remain confidential.
Trust me, that's best for everyone.
However, I will say that while I think Mac would be a mostly 'natural' kind of guy, I think it would be as much out of necessity as anything else. Any room in his bags for hygiene products would most certainly be filled with hair products!

That's the answer! Mac probably smells like whatever goop he puts in his hair!

Hey- that's a manly smell right there!!! I don't know if it turns the ladies on or not- but it definitely makes us feel pretty manly to come home covered in dirt, grime, mud and sweat- (insert Tim Taylor grunt here )

Hey, just because you didn't see him do it doesn't mean he didn't! You can use a green twig for a toothbrush if you're out hiking. No shortage and they're biodegradable.

Aw, c’mon. If you can’t talk about it here, where can you? Although I marvel that it was a guy who started this particular thread . . .
I’d go with the idea of Mac keeping it simple and natural – as in unscented deodorant, not too obsessed with fragrances and other chemical additives, albeit inclined towards a reasonable level of cleanliness. Somewhere in suspension-of-disbelief-land we’re supposed to buy that the hair isn’t really the product of extensive tampering with nature, so I’m going to rule out the smell of hair gel.
Some men have the remarkable gift of still smelling good even when they’ve been sweating . . . well, as long as they haven’t been sweating too much, anyway. I’m quite willing to grant Mac that attribute. ('Musk' is a popular component of many perfumes!)
And when you’re out camping, there’s another smell that often tends to permeate, one of my favourites: wood smoke. I love the smell of wood smoke in someone’s hair; it’s one of the sexiest smells I can think of. Much better than dirt and grime.

LOL- just kidding. I couldn't care less if I smell sexy to a woman (unless I was trying to court her, of course )- I just think dirt and grime is manly- and wood smoke would definitely fall in that category too!

Okay, here's another note to make in your little black book: dirt and grime aren't actually manly by themselves. Being willing and able to tackle a job and finish it is manly.
Doing it right (so that it doesn't have to be redone by someone else), and not complaining about the mess, is studly.
Cleaning up the mess yourself afterwards is heroic. <g> And you know what they say about a hero's reward.
Leaving the mess for someone else to clean up costs you about 95% of the manly-points you gained in the first place.

Well, of course, that's all part of the job. I believe in doing it right. I just think it's cool to come out of it tired, hot, sweaty, and dirty and grimy. (And seriously, I don't really have a little black book- that was a joke.)

Men! I can't believe I have to explain this.
As a girl. Never lifting the seat, the thought of having to put it back down isn't there.
And well it's all well and fine during the day... seeing it up.. okay... put it down. But it's in the middle of the night! or first thing in the morning when you're still half a sleep! that is the last thing on your mind. And falling an extra couple inches or getting your tush dunked in cold water is no bloody fun!
Don't understand why you guys can't just cop a squat to take your pee. God knows you don't clean up your misfirers and tinkle spray. Which takes away all the during the day... seeing it up... okay... put it down. I don't want to touch that nasty thing.
PUT IT IN THE POT!

But then they don't have control over the men.
Oh that's rich.
Seems to me, if we wanted to control you, we'd smack you in the back of the head during potty training everytime you lifted the seat up. Break you down while your still young. *nods* Yep, that's the ticket.
Let's start a new movement ladies! Viva La Potty Revolution!!!

What started out as MacGyver's smell turned out to be toilet talk. Thank God for the trees and the bushes.
What are you talking about anyway?

Why don't men and women who live in the same household agree to the following course of action: When she finishes her duty, she flushes and puts the lid down. When he finishes his duty, he flushes and puts the seat and lid down. That way, the wc is always in the same condition, no matter who used it last. When she is ready, she just lifts the lid. When he is ready, he merely lifts the lid and seat.
I think that if this policy is instituted in households the world over, we might just live to see the end of all toilet wars between the sexes.

I don’t think its such a strange question. We know what he looks like (we’ve discussed his clothes and hair), and we know what he sounds like (discussed his changing accent in season 1). I’d like to get the whole picture and know what he smells like too.
Wait a minute…we don’t know what his skin feels like either. Whether he has soft hands or all callused and rough from all his MacGyverisms for example.
I’m not going to mention the 5th sense we are missing.

I don't think anyone who spends that much time working with his hands, especially someone who goes backwoods camping, is going to have really smooth skin.

Hahahaha , that is so funny. At first , that is EXACTLY the thought that crossed my mind. It is just that , that I thought is what Rocky meant. But then when I thought some more on the matter, I thought , well, I would say, he takes showers, and is very proper about hygiene. I would say, he likes to take showers and shaves ( whenever he is not stuck somewhere, like in a jungle for days, etc ) . That is what I think on this . I would say, yes, he smells very nicely.
