Oh that's good, that's real good. I think it might fit macgyver like a glove, but maybe not true for every series. The x-files is what comes to mind, it started on a high point at season 1 imo.

Definitely fits MacGyver. Not so sure about more recent shows, though. The CSI franchise shows actually stayed pretty good right up until the end... at least, the Miami and NY ones did. I haven't seen the original in a *very* long time, so I can't speak for that.

It's probably fair to say that this would fit most 80's & 90's shows. Even shorter lived series.

A good example of the shorter series is Knight Rider, which only ran for 4 seasons, yet they still managed to pretty much fit in the plan.

Season 1 - Grace period (transitioned to Plateau midway through the season)
Season 2 - Plateau
Season 3 - Plateau continued then but then the cracks began to show
Season 4 - Downhill Spiral at Super Pursuit Mode speed
