I was wondering what would MacGyver portrayed by RDA be doing today? Would he still be on field missions for the Phoenix Foundation? How would he get along without Pete? Would he be married with children, giving up his life of adventure? Would Mac of adapted to the 21st century?

Anybody have any thoughts?

You mean if we followed the shows timeline and use that same (now 61 year old) MacGyver? More in line with the Web episodes?

He's moved to Europe with his girlfriend and has fulfilled his life long ambition in serving as player/coach in the Swiss National B Hockey league. He also does some promotional work for Victorinox and, yes, still keeps in touch with Pete - being available for the 'occasional' assignment. Stay tuned ,,,,,

When did he ever mention he had a life long ambition of coaching a Swiss hockey team?

Relax, there's no right or wrong answer to thread topics as such. nothing set in stone/script - yet.boxing.gif wink.gif

The country 'where' his beloved sport is played is not significant to him or any passionate hockey players. He did have aspirations of playing pro hockey, didn't he? Many players who aren't good enough for the North American pros - do end up in one of the Swiss Leagues - today. And he did show successful coaching in 'Thin Ice', didn't he?

I think a player/coach would be an offer he couldn't refuse.... while peddling SAks on the side and skiing galore ops. Perfect! biggrin.gif

I wish to clarify any confusion this topic may bring. I started this thread for fans to speculate on what Macgyver's life portrayed by RDA would be like today at age 61. Each fan can share his or her opinion.

I will share my speculation on what Mac is doing in the present.

Mac finally settled down and married Nikki.

He only takes an occasional field assignment from the Phoenix Foundation. Today he acts in more of an advisory function after Pete retired.

He coaches a kids hockey team in his spare time.

He still gets an occasional adventure with his old friend Jack Dalton.

He teaches science and physics on a part time basis for a local community college.

He still volunteers to help troubled youth at the Challengers Club.

Sounds like Indiana Jones to me. Still going through adventures and teaching college. And if someone asks: 'You're a teacher?'
He'll reply: 'Part time', while closing his SAK and putting it back in his pocket.

I can dig the settling down with Nikki and that somehow they're in charge of the Phoenix Foundation together. That's how I pictured them always if I ever get back to writing.

But I also think Mac would be living the quiet life in a or Harry's cabin near the forrest. Completely on his own far away for everything and everybody. No cellphones, no internet.

Well... keeping the movies and Young MacGyver into account, sounds like he got back from his road trip with Sam, went back to Phoenix, trained Clay, probably retired, found a girl/got married, had a daughter and started his own business (according to the Citan web series). That is, if you consider Young MacGyver and the web series to be canon. Though, I'm not sure how he would even have a nephew seeing as he had no siblings.

I think he would have adapted well to the 21 Century, with the help of his daughter, I'm sure. lol

And he probably stayed on top of things in the news. Tienamen Square was big in 1989, just as 9/11 and the Arabian Spring was for our/my generation.

That sounds good to me too smile.gif

Mac would be involved in training the new recruits and handling a few of the more challenging field ops, probably with a sidekick in tow, or in rescuing situations that have got totally out of hand. Nikki would be more in charge of the day to day running of the Phoenix Foundation, stepping into Pete's shoes as it were, as she seems like she'd be good at it.
