I've had a best friend since i was a kid, who was always getting me into to craziest situations, who always had this half brained ideas, liked to tell tall tales. Me being a life long MacGyver fan, have always considered my friend Josh as 'my Jack Dalton'. I could never always believe everything he says, i can tell when he's lying, but he'd do anything in the world to help me if i needed. I was just curious how many of you have a friend that's your 'Jack Dalton'?

I don't have a 'Jack Dalton' but I bet it'd be a real blast. I'd love to hear some of your escapades.

I've had an assortment of oddball/goofball friends throughout my life, but sadly none of them were ever true friends that stuck around or were really willing to help me with anything. "Oh help me fix my car, help me fix my stereo, help with this, help with that!" Ok, but I'm hungry, could you buy me a burger? Nope.

No, I've got great friends but no 'Jack Daltons'.

The last escapade was a perfectly innocent sounding 'Let's us go wild camping', which ended up involving:
1. A trip up to Scotland on the rainiest, windiest weekend on record. 2. Two fallen trees and a respectable landslide. 3. The discovery that his (extremely large) dog is monumentally carsick. Seriously, the whole back of his car was awash... 4. The discovery that his carefully chosen camping location was on a 60 degree slope. After dark. In the pouring rain. His reasoning? 'It looked flatter on Google Earth'. 5. One broken finger when he got mad at the whole thing and punched the steering wheel really hard. 6. Finally him declaring war on Scotland, a state which (as far as he's concerned) still stands...

Don't underestimate the Scottish. William Wallace is not to be messed with and does he know Mac has Scottish inheritage?

Well YopeGyver, my friend Josh (my 'Jack') like i mentioned has always gotten into some odd situations and in alot of them has dragged me along with him. One of my favorites is one time he was doing a job for someone a friend of a friend knew. He was going to be paid well, all he had to do was help this older woman move, he had to drive a big box truck loaded with furniture and other odds and ends from Ohio to southern Tennessee. Well he begged me to tag along and like a sap i went. Well as always he had conveniently forgotten to mention all the details. So i tagged along and we did have a good time on the way down. Well while we were around three quarters of the way there he told me this woman gave him a sob story about a nasty breakup from a bad relationship. Something didn't quitw sound right with it. Well we make it down there and come to find out the things we were delivering wasn't actually legally hers lol. Well we had alot of explaining to dog and much to Josh's disappointment he lost out on getting paid lol. Josh totally bought into this womans story, figuring it was easy money to help someone out, and almost got us both in deep crap lol. I could've killed him lol. He reallu is a geat friend with a good, big heart that'd do anything for me, all i have to do is call

Yes indeed MacgyverGod lol, i wanted to strangle him at the time. In hindsight though, it was a fun little misadventure i suppose lol
Maybe you gotta check for an eye twitch. You know *twitch twitch*.

macmurdoc0908: Good story! That could have been a MacGyver episode! Too bad you didn't get paid.

Its funny, I can always tell when my friend is lying, no eye twitch like Jack, however my friend will not look you in the eye. He looks straight up towards the ceiling when he's lying lol

Unfortunately, I think it was I that was the "Jack Dalton" in my friendship with my old pal, Andrew. I always tried to convince him of going somewhere or doing something and life had a fascinating way of turning out for the worse.
It was all good and well though. We had some good times. Nowadays being married with kids, its difficult to find the time.

This definitely sounds like Jack! Haha, the part about being "flatter on Google Earth" is great

No, I have worked with some Jack Daltons but to be honest I don't have the endurance to maintain a good friendship with them, I find myself ducking and dodging them and trying to avoid them. Being married and busy with my own son, I just don't have time for a high-maintenance friend like that.
