Okay, so the Peterman G-2 arrived today and unfortunately I ended up sending it back. It was a size small and it fit me well except for the fact the shoulders were too tight for me to keep it. I really wanted to though Anyway, I'm not going to get a size medium because I already know it will be too big on me. The small was perfect aside from the shoulders. My guess is that this jacket's fit just isn't right for me. I almost kept it as it was bearable but I figured if it's not exactly what I want then it's better to not keep it.

I wanted to get it back as quick as possible because I'm going to have little free time in the next few days so I didn't take any pics but it's the same as the ones in the eBay pics. I posted above. However, it's not the same as the picture of the one on the Peterman website right now so this suggests there are different versions out there. The fit on the one I received was bulky and a bit stiff similar to the "Safari" model shown at Sporty's: http://www.sportys.com/pilotShop/product/7...=MerchantCenter

I know someone that owns the Safari jacket and it is heavier than the G&B Raider and very stiff even when broken in. More of a winter jacket. The Peterman I got could compare to the Safari with the stiffness but not the weight. It was about as heavy as my G&B is. While the fit of the Peterman jacket is very close to the way Mac's looked and fit (slightly bigger and bulkier than the Chevignon) as he leaves the court room in "Trail of Tears" I no longer think it is the same jacket. At least, if it was, it's an early version and they've since made changes. The reason I say this is because there is a straight stitched & raised line that goes down the center of the back of the jacket whereas Mac's was basically the exact same design as the Chevigon when it came to external features and neither the Chevignon nor his dark G-2 had this feature. All in all, it's a quality jacket. However, the G&B is still of higher quality in my opinion. For those looking to get a similar G-2 to Mac's dark one, go for the G&B

I guess the best Mac-jacket will always be the Chevignon. I've only got an A2-based motorcycle jacket, which is quite heavy as well (never weighed it). The Chevignon really seems to "pack" quite small, so there's not much bulk there.
Someone on ebay Germany tried selling an original Chevignon like Mac's a couple of weeks ago, had to list it several times, but it never got a single bidder. It was pretty beat up and he still asked about a hundred Euros for it. If it'S put up for auction again, I'll offer the guy a tenner - it's not worth much more in that condition.

But what we learn from your experience: Don't invest in the Peterman, unless you have to.

Yeah, the only way I would invest in the Peterman is if it was a bit cheaper and fit me better, haha. For prices in that range, the G&B is the better one. Like you say though, the Chevignon will always be the best. That's why I love the Schott G-2's. They almost fit like a sweater or thick shirt haha, very similar to the Chevignon. It always looked to me like Mac's was made just for him because it fit nearly perfect and didn't look bulky or anything. I'd really like to get a Chevignon but unfortunately I lost on the only one I've ever bid on because it ended at 2 am and someone went past my maximum bid lol. It was in pretty bad shape too, maybe similar to the one you're describing. The price was around $170 (125 Euro) when I bid and I think it ended at $210 (155 Euro) if I remember right. This was a bit high for the condition of it I think. Missing 2 zipper tabs, a few tears in the lining, and some cuts in the leather.

Did you happen to see the one on eBay France about a year ago? The seller was using pictures of Mac and calling it MacGyver's jacket, etc. It was literally selling for 1,200 Euro! I kept thinking I was seeing 120 Euro but it was indeed 1,200. Anyway, kept looking at it over the next month or so and it was relisted at some point for 989 Euro and then eventually wasn't listed again. Don't think it sold since that was a really high price! I think I may have posted something about it in one of the other forums about the jacket some time ago. What was crazy is how good of shape it was in. It looked distressed but was in great condition for its age. No rips or anything
