In the episode of Robot Combat League I watched last night, while the teams were making repairs during their 20 minute break between rounds, the commentator was talking to one of the teams and mentioned that they were holding one part of the robot together with duct tape, to which the commentator replied, "So your MacGyvering it back together."




Interestingly the commentator who said it was well known professional wrestler Chris Jericho.

Gotta love a random MacGyver mention.

There was another Mac mention on the show before too when Si called himself the "MacGyver of Cooking". And wasn't there some kind of mention of Jason Bourne being a cross between MacGyver and James Bond? .

This sounds really familiar to me. Was it actually in the movie that one of the characters makes a reference about Bourne in that way? I love those movies but haven't seen them in quite some time. He does do a few things that could be called MacGyverisms that I remember. Don't remember which movie it was from (maybe the first one) but he ruptures a gas line in a house and then jams a rolled up magazine in a toaster and pushes it down. He has enough time to leave the house until the magazine catches on fire and ignites the gas leak, traveling back through the line itself and resulting in a huge explosion.
