There's a fairly strange news report on CBS News today which is using a pretty labored connection of Obama's State of the Union speech to a MacGyverism.

Uhm, for as far I understand the article because Mac had a good sixth season and a less good seventh season means that Obama will have the same thing in his presidency? I don't see the connection.

Are they gonna cancel Obama next year?

He get's cancelled in 2 more years. That's when his second term will finish and US Presidents can only run for 2 terms.

I think the connection is more about this line...

"So they too are trying to work magic from simple household items like a phone and a pen."

It relates to a soft threat Obama made, saying "I have a pen and a phone" meaning he can use both to call for action if Congress won't.

But even so, it's kind of a big stretch to link that to MacGyver.
