Just looking for some old MacGyver Promo's. These are old ones from the first airings in Belgium.



Starting from 0:35 to 1:03. Just a clip of The Madonna.
'Narrator saying that MacGyver has a strange meeting on Christmas Eve. Monday at 8:30 pm.'

This is from 1991. I assume considering this is the Christmas episode, this was aired Christmas 1991 in Belgium. By going back on the calendar, I noticed that Christmas Eve was on a Tuesday that year. So I assume this episode was originally aired on Monday 23rd of December 1991.

I also found another one that involves a brief clip of Mask of the Wolf. The promo dates back to June 3rd 1990 which was a Sunday. I assume that in both years Mac aired on weeknights there had to be like 18 months in between the airings.



The Narrator says that 'Our hero MacGyver is swinging his fists again at 8:30 pm.'

It only lasts four seconds. Than at 3:40 the lady mentions 'MacGyver' again while going down the list of shows for the next day. Only it's spelled wrong. It's spelled as Mc Gyver. In yet another one it is spelled correct.

It seems that this guy who uploaded these vids is quite the nostalgic. He has a lot of vids about those early airings of the channel called VTM.

Just wanted to share this. And here by a mystery is solved now I know when at what time MacGyver was aired the first time it appeared on Belgian television.

Whats up with that 1,000 000 promo? Looks like a weird Who Wants to be a Millionaire show.

That was The Question of 1.000.000 or The 1.000.000 Question. Something around the same concept as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. These were all the game shows from back in the day. This channel was the first commercial channel in Belgium. Established in 1989. It was never seen before, so in the early '90s this was very hot stuff. Everything they did back than was very 'American'. It didn't matter if it was over the top, or expensive, everything was possible. That's what made the first half of '90s so legendary in my opinion.

Sometimes I wish I could just go back to 1989-1995. Those were so crazy years. Everything had to be 'American'. Shows that were long gone in the States became popular here along with new series. The A-Team, Magnum PI, MacGyver, the early years of Baywatch. I even remember the first airing of North and South, that happened ten years after the first episode was aired in America. The rise of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

God, I wish I just could go back in time.

Yeah, they were good days weren't they?

Yes, they were. So this means the early tapes I have are going to their 25th aniversary. Before that we only had one channel something like BBC, a few channels from the Netherlands and French channels.

With being aired at 8:30 pm and especially in the winter, I think MacGyver was widely watched in the country. This is something else than what is aired now like all those talent shows these days.

The older stuff always had wider exposure because there used to be less prime time shows on TV.

Nowadays, prime time is stampeded with hundreds of shows. Too much that offer little in substance. But then again, this could be our point of view. We grew up watching Mac. Many today did not get that. They ended up watching other shows altogether. Ultimately missing out on those life lessons we learnt and related to in the show.
