I'm trying to fix my bike here. Got a flat tire. I know, doesn't sound too difficult but I'd really need MacGyver here right now. The nuts are just way too tight for me and when I tried to loosen them I broke my wrench but the nuts still didn't get any looser. Now I should figure out a way to fix my wrench so I could continue fixing my bike. My bike is over 30 years old so I knew that it could break beyond repair anytime now, but I always thought that the ultimate breaking point would be something a bit more severe than a flat tire

Have you tried WD40? My Dad swore by WD40. lol That reminds me, I need to get DW40 on my next trip to the store, and light bulbs. This gonna end up becoming my shopping list. XD

Also, nice job on the socks. They look cozy! My oldest sister crochets. I have one of the blankets she made on my bed and I love it. It's very warm and cozy.

thanks jedi I'll add that to my shopping list. Except now it looks like taking the bike to repairman would actually be cheaper than fixing it by myself and the repairer is also closer to my home than the shop where I could get all the stuff I need Maybe I should just swallow my pride and take that bike to repairer. It's just so against my principles.

Since november been working like crazy, haven't been much home. Gladly things have calmed down a bit so I can be with the family, with you guys and perhaps enjoy few movies. Can I still join the party? I missed you lovely people. With proud I wear my MacGyver shirt every day

Usually between -12c & 0c. It's never really too cold to snow but as the air temperature drops, so does the moisture content and thus 'blizzards' (re: a ton of snow in a short period of time) become much less likely, the lower the mercury drops down.

Sounds a lot like the area I used to live in New York. We were about a half hour away from Ottawa. If weather was good, we'd go to the Winterlude there at the canal and see the ice sculptures.

Sadly, it was a bit too cold and winters were too long for my southern blood, so I moved back down south. Here's a good example of why I left. Two weeks of this sheet of ice my final year in NY. lol

Good to be back Jediferret. I myself love summer, but kinda hate winter. It's ok when there's snow and everything looks beautiful, but when not, it's all darkness and cold rain. Winter also takes forever here, most of the time of the year and summer is too short. To me there's nothing better than summer cottage, barbeque parties, swimming in lakes, warm weather and sun shining.

I can't say that I have. We rarely ate when we were actually at the canal. I do remember getting maple syrup on a stick, which they kept in snow. And poutine. Poutine is amazing. I think poutine and hot, spiced apple cider was the lifeblood of Northern New Yorkers. heehee

And that's a good idea with the ashes. Never knew that. We were always told to use cat litter by the locals... but we normally just used Ice Melt, which did the trick. I really don't like ice... snow I can deal with... just not ice.

I'm with Harry on this one. Here though, check this out... I'm on US soil, and look across the water! It's Canada! This was taken in Gouverneur, NY in 2012 at a friend's wedding. (I may have posted this before, but I don't remember)

Summer is great till you stay in Africa. Then you just long for winter. Temperatures can go up to 113 degrees (Fahrenheit). Gets too hot and you just want to die.

Oh dear.I would be very miserable.I don't like extremes of temperature.

I used to hate winter too. Actually I can't think of a Finn who wouldn't hate winter it's just way too long and cold and way too much snow and way too much problems because of snow. But now it's not that bad anymore. Maybe cos the snow will anyway last from september to may so it's just too long time to care about it anymore and I've got used to it And as I live in apartment I don't have to clean the snow by hand anymore, as I only move in woods I don't have to worry about traffic anymore, as I cycle or walk I don't have to worry about buses and trains anymore and as it's always so cold I don't have to worry about snow falling from roofs anytime soon. It's -19 C here now so quit nice. A bit colder than yesterday but not too cold and lot warmer than couple of weeks ago. I do miss summer though, but at least the sun is up again after so many months of darkness

I was just so busy Duckt tape. I wouldn't mind the winter if it lasted few months, but like you said it takes forever in Finland. There are periods when it's nothing but darkness. Living in own house and cleaning the snow almost everyday ain't much of fun. Earlier when we had lower angle roof, I had climb up there to drop the snow. When you go out with kids, you have to clothe them properly and it takes forever. I myself stay much indoors during winter, watching movies or playing playstation. Sometimes I might go skating to shoot few pucks or similar. I just ain't winter person.

A bunch of used to come down from Toronto & rent a cabin cruiser in Abay for the long weekend & cruise the 1000 Islands ... pretty part of the country.

I had my first BeaverTail @ the Canal one cold February morning. I was in Ottawa doing some research at the NRC Library, brought my skates and decided to skate the canal before work.

It was only about -10c but the wind was howling and the windchill factor made it considerably colder. Anyway, I survived the skate but was starving for something to eat .... and with a stroke of luck, the BeaverTail Shack had just opened as I was putting my boots back on. I wolfed down the pastry very quickly & it really hit the spot, but the problem was that my face/mouth was so frozen that I didn't realize until after that I had also eaten the napkin/serviette that was supplied with and wrapped around the dessert

Hi Sakic, great to hear from you too. As you know I'm a Minnesota Wild fan and I truly hope them to get to the playoffs and win the cup. They had awful run not too long ago and they were in the bottom, but ever since Jeremy Roenick's Wild & Mike Yeo comments they have been winning. I mean really strong looking play and Dubnyk has been amazing. Mikko Koivu and Mikael Granlund were giving disappointing efforts like the rest of the team earlier this season and I couldn't see them having a winning goalie either. Now things are going right. Last night 5-3 win over Vancouver and Koivu 0+3.

Yes, they are definitely peaking at the proper time. Tough OT loss to the Jets last night though .... and you know that LA is going to making their seasonal push, as well, for one of those final playoff spots. Should be fun & very interesting!!

L.A is truly a playoff team. No matter how they do on regular season, but once it's playoffs or playing on the edge they seem to triumph. San Jose is the opposite, many years have been doing excellent during regular season, but always fail on playoffs.

Really? You know better than me.I was only referring to the proportion of posts sent by women recently .
The administrator and the moderator are men And some topics (not all of them though) are clearly chosen by men for men.
