It's snowing today. It's practically a blizzard. Well, maybe not quite that bad, but it's April, I want some spring weather already. Come on, Minnesota, stop torturing us!

I just did a bunch of shoveling. In the cold and windiness. And I hate cold weather. Yes, I am just posting this so I can vent.

After the amount of rain we got today and the way that the roads are flooding I am ready to trade my car for a boat.

It's been raining a lot here too. There was a little bit of snow this morning as I was leaving for work, but nothing to really worry about. Temperature dropped. It was almost 80F on Friday, and it was around 40F yesterday. It's about 35F right now.

I hear ya Dragondog. When I lived in upstate NY, winters were hard to get through. Especially when things iced over and I had to try to get to work on icy roads. I dunno how folks do it sometimes. I'm a nervous wreck in that sort of bad weather.

But, I'm okay with the current weather... it's good sleeping weather. lol

I can't drive in good weather, much less bad weather. I'm old enough to, but trying to drive anywhere busy, where I have to go over 15 mph... Yeah, my nerves get shot. Oh well, I'm sure that will change someday.

The weather is really nice now. I went out for a while today. I kept telling myself not to buy anything. We're financially tight right now, and you never know if something important will come up. I avoided buying ice cream and leftover Easter candy. Then I saw a really cute stuffed cat for almost $20 and caved. Good thing we've got money coming in this week.

Took a look around the local pet stores too. Got to watch a chinchilla take a dust bath. the first chinchilla I've ever seen in person. And there was a hyperactive ferret popping up like a spring whamming into the walls of his cage.

I had a friend in New York that owned a Chinchilla. His name was Gizmo, from Gremlins. He was so cute and fluffy!

Ferrets are fun to watch when they get hyper. We actually call it the Weasel War Dance. lol Our ferrets used to go nuts when we'd let them out. We had one ferret that would steal potatoes. We nicknamed her Spud. lol

What a coincidence. I had a 'gremlin' in the house for the past couple of weeks. It took a roll of toilet paper and unrolled it all over the house, ate all my peanuts, and then bored a hole in a kitchen drawer .... this is the work of a rodent, a gremlin, a devil gnawer, a mammal that can crawl down a 20ft chimney with ease to enter. And I finally caught it in a live trap, yesterday! Thank gawd it was a male!

What did it end up being? Sounds like the work of a raccoon. lol

Could have been the "Three Bears" by the look of the place on one afternoon. Actually, I wasn't absolutely certain what it was til I caught the little bugger. I had a hint from that hole though which was almost 2 inches in diameter. If you google holes chewed by animals for entry/nests etc. - you learn that it's too big for a rat and chipmunk and too small for a raccoon/groundhog. The shavings from the hole it made were like somebody took a drill to the drawer. I was mortified as to what could cause so much damage in such little time and then seemingly vanish without a visual or auditory trace. In the end it was an American Red Squirrel. I drove it to a park 2 miles away and let it go -- probably not far and be back tomorrow night ..... with a vengeance .....

And he might bring friends and have a party. lol

Squirrels are cute, but really destructive.

When I live in VA, we were the only house in our development that didn't have a dog. Because of that, the local squirrel population lived in our backyard. They found a way into our attic and you could hear them running back and forth all the time. They also chewed a hole near one of our spotlights, which was hanging down by a wire.

We also had a bird feeder, which they would climb to the roof and jump from the roof to the feeder. We'd be there drinking coffee in the morning and there would be a blur and a loud thump. Sometimes they'd miss.....

They would also steal our tomatoes. lol

Yeah, I've had issues with them before, but almost always it's in the 'perimeter' of the building. Never anything this brash like moving right into the 'downtown' kitchen area and making a nest hole in a drawer.

Didn't you always want to be a landlord to squirrels? lol

My laptop's hard drive died yesterday. It will be a while before it's repaired because I need to buy a new drive and I'll be installing it myself. So, if I'm a bit MIA, that's why. I'll still be around though. I'll have my phone and I can check the forum on my work computer.

Thanks! I'm ordering the new drive, hopefully, today. I should get it on Friday and do the OS installation started. HOPEFULLY, if all goes well, I'll be up and running over the weekend. I have a friend that will be helping me with it via phone.

That sounds like The Battle of Tommy Giordano. There's a short scene where Mac and Mary Ruth act like hippies to get a certain room. Not sure if that's the one you're thinking of or not.

Went shopping today before the weekend rush. I don't know if it's because most of the places aren't that busy, but everyone was really nice today. Taking the cake was the waitress at Perkins who kept saying that I was a really nice kid and that she wanted to take me home.

There's a robin's nest in the eaves on our front porch. There was one last year, but the eggs were abandoned. Fortunately, that didn't happen this year, and today the eggs hatched. The nest keeps peeping

Any prayers and/or well wishes would be appreciated. Got some nasty allergies acting up right now. My throat is killing me, but I know from experience the worst will be in the days to come.

On a humorous note, I bought some spray to help relive the pain. My mom, for some reason, thought that she should be the one to spray it while I held my mouth open. She hit the left side of my face instead. She is no longer allowed to help.

I hope you are feeling better Dragondog. This year has been rough on me allergy wise too. I feel for your Mom, but it had to be funny afterwards!

I have an old weeping willow tree that's growing at a 45 degree angle and it's top branches are now overhanging the second floor balcony and (has recently started) banging against the guest room window whenever the wind comes up a tad.

So I got the ladder up this morning and was ready to hack and whack away when I heard some massive squealing coming from somewhere. It was coming from inside the tree. Then I saw hole and something's butt! Raccoons! There's a family living in the tree that's scrapping against the house and needs to be taken down.

Okay, so I won't whack the tree down yet and instead get my camera gear out and in place of the tree removal stuff. Nothing cuter than when raccoon cubs all peer out of the tree hole together(google it!) and for a family portrait picture! SNAP! Well, easier said than done ... these critters are quit nocturnal and mama's butt's gonna be blocking the hole for the day light hours and just when there's about to be a good photo op, don't ya know it - nightfall will be happening.

Hmmmm, looks like I'll need to MacGyver something ..... with motion detector lights and trail cameras etc ..... not promising anything but will post in the photo thread if I manage to get a picture of those little cutie_pies.

Already started schmoozing up Mama by whistling as I pass near the tree (so She'll get familiar with my presence and not try to snap my nose of if I happen to get a little too close to her kiddies) and then just before dusk I dropped a few big, white, juicy marshmallows for her to snack on tonight and as a friendly 'welcome to the neighborhood good will gesture.

Well be careful! A raccoon tried to attack my mom a few years back; she barely got the door closed in time... it was pretty terrifying
