I'm sure the original topic is somewhere here but I just renew it. What is your favourite season opener?

I think my vote goes out to Lost Love followed by Legend of the Holy Rose. Lost Love has Mac, Pete, Jack, Elyssa (as Lisa) and delegates of two of the biggest nations in the world. Russia and China.

I wish more great adventures had a Lost Love feeling with familiar faces. I think Lost Love has also the most characters with Mac, Pete, Jack, Lisa, the general, Kosov, Tanya and commissioner Chu.

This vote came after I just saw Lost Love again after a while. I really liked the idea that Mac was working on a big Phoenix assignment at home with Pete and Jack happens to be in town as well for his own business. Mac while busy seeing Lisa and trying to help her out, which turns out in a great motorcycle chase and in the end Mac and Jack having to rely on each other to steal the Ming Dragon and save Lisa with Mac not having himself intimidated, telling them how everything goes down where and when he says. I think it's a great opener for maybe his best season.

Legend of the Holy Rose is a close second with a great cliffhanger but this seemed more like a more personal approach. Mac going on an adventure with an old friend far away from everything else.

Voted for the pilot. Worked its magic on me. They packed it with everything they wanted MacGyver to be. Slowly evolving the character as they went along but I just looove that story about the palamino! biggrin.gif

The was tough, but I chose Lost Love. As mentioned above, the familiar faces was nice. Anything with Jack is great! I am not a huge fan of first season because his character was so undeveloped.

You gotta start your character somewhere but his development is quite remarkable. From boyish and a bit arrogant to mature. By the time they reach the third season and the show gets to recurring subjects, it's like they made him more human.

I have to go with "Lost Love." I thought the tension in that episode was great, with Mac having to help the bad guys while also trying to stop them. It almost felt like a precursor to "24," since Jack Bauer finds himself in that sort of situation all the time.

The Pilot episode was good, too, but it felt too removed from the rest of the series. Mac's personality was different, Dana Elcar played a different character, etc, etc. Not that those things make it bad, it just doesn't really feel like part of the same series... it's more like a rough draft of what the series would become.

I went with Holy Rose from season 5- although the Pilot is real close. Holy Rose has always been one of my fave 2 parters and a lot of fun. The opening reminds me a bit of the pilot's opening gambit as well.
Tough Boys was one I liked and remember seeing when it 1st aired. If I recall it had a strange air time- afternoon on a weekend.

All of them are good, but if I have to choose I go for "Lost love".
My second fave is "Legend of the Holy Rose", but "Lost love" has more action, feelings and the interaction Mac/Jack is better than Mac/Zoe.
"Tough boys" is good too, except for the music.
"Pilot" is not bad at all, but Mac is a little too self-confident.
"Honest abe" is more humorous rather than action.
"The secret of Parker's House" is ok. Not much action, but RDA had just had back surgery, so it's understandable.
"The human factor" is not bad, but I just don't like that General and that woman.

Hands down, Pilot.

Harry Jackson: There was a time when I could run all day without breaking a sweat. I tell ya: it's hell getting old.
MacGyver: Age is only in the mind, Harry.
Harry Jackson: Well, my mind tells me I'm gettin' old.

My vote goes to "Legend of the Holy Rose." Love "Pilot" and "Lost Love" but Holy Rose has so much good stuff packed into it. Granted it's a two parter. But they brought back the opening gambit. Someone other than Jack ropes a reluctant Mac into another adventure. It has some awesome villains. And it has some of Mac's best "isms" of the entire series. (Even if they were just plain dumb luck.) Specifically his pendulum escape. He's forced to use quick thinking and "fancy footwork" to save his life, which I thought was great. Take away his hands and SAK and he's still as inventive as if he had them. Good stuff. "Yeesss!"
