Love Ghostbusters. Even Real Ghostbusters. Still haven't played the game! But it is on Xbox's store so I might buy it sometime

Big Trouble in Little China. Waste of time. I'd expect more of Kurt Russell and John Carpenter. I was hoping at first this would be some sort of Murderers' Sky and The Wish Child meets Temple of Doom and Mortal Kombat. Russell plays Jack an empty-headed hero with a gun who can barely use it let alone stand his ground in a fight. He is helping his friend Wang to find the girl that was kidnapped right in front of their eyes on the airport. They end up in Little China in San Francisco and stumbles on an ancient war between Chinese tribes and meet an ancient sorcerer (James Hong) who needs a green eyed Chinese woman to become flesh and blood again and rule the universe. Soon they end up in an underground maze filled with Chinese demons and multiple eyed monster who could've been related to the slime monster of Ghostbusters and they need to save the girls and the world.

This one was quite a dud actually. It would've helped the movie a lot if they gave Russell's character at least something of a brain, knows how to use a gun and be able to fight. After all it is an action movie. He just feels so out of place there if he was supposed to be the hero but it seemed more like Wang and his other friends were the heroes since they did most of the fighting. The movie flopped, of course but did gain a fanbase of the years, but I say skip it. This could've been better if you changed Russell and Wang into MacGyver and Luke and they are trying to find their way out of an underground maze filled with dangers, facing a Chinese legend and need to save the girl.

The game is a must for Ghostbusters fans. If you decide to get it, make sure you get the one that has the original cast in it. Despite being a game, it's considered a true sequel by fans because it's what Ghostbusters 3 should have been. It's an excellent game, I've played it several times, and is never gets old.

Really? BTLC is one of my favorite Carpenter movies. And for a vast amount of fans from that era too. I know that the movie did not succeed at the box office (Like most of Carpenters movies, that is) but it has now become a huge cult classic and has to date made more than its budget.

Even references to the movie are still used in movies of today such as "The checks in the mail" and "it's all in the reflexes".

The test screening of the movie was an overwhelming success but the movie company didn't market the movie so it became an unknown release (Which is why it bombed) That and the interference of the company's exec.

Jedi, I have the new Ghostbusters. Its definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of the original 1980's series. Its no where near as good IMO but its still worthy of a watch, with many references to the first 2 movies.

On Friday I got to watch Funny Farm


This is an old Chevy Chase comedy from 1988 with a screenplay by Jeffrey Boam (Of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade fame). Chase plays a former sportswriter by the name of Andy Farmer who decides to move to a small farm with his aspiring author wife so Andy can focus on writing a novel. But they soon realize that the townsfolk arent so welcoming as they'd hoped they would be. As things start to spiral out of control, Andy comes up with an idea to put his life back on track.

If you're a Chevy Chase fan, you will find a few things to like about this movie. It is a pleasant comedy with enough to keep you watching till the end. I give it 2 & a half stars.

I finally got around to watching Psycho II.


Two decades after the original murders at the Bates Motel, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) completes his treatment at a mental institution and returns home to find his hotel run down under the management of Warren Toomey (Dennis Franz). Despite a new friendship with a waitress (Meg Tilly) and a job busing tables at a diner, Norman begins to hear voices once again. No matter how hard he tries, Norman cannot keep "Mother" from returning and coaxing him to unleash the homicidal maniac within.

This was a surprisingly good sequel and held up on all accounts. A few nice twists and surprises which ultimately make you think there is more to Norman's insanity than they are trying to reveal. Vera Miles returns and a nice performance from a very underrated Meg Tilly. I give it a modest 4 stars.

I think more of Carpenter's movies were like flops but became cult classics long after that. But for a guy who made Halloween, The Thing and Escape From New York (which I still haven't seen and am very curious about), I'd thought more. Maybe it was because he didn't wrote it, I don't know. I just didn't like it. Perhaps it's because the hero was the screw up and not the sidekicks for a change but what's the point in having that hero than? It just didn't appeal to me.

Trespass. An action movie with Bill Paxton, William Sandler and Ice Cube and to my surprise written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. It does have an interesting story since this movie was written in the 70's. Years before Back To The Future came out and directed by Walter Hill. Paxton and Sandler play two fire fighters who find a treasure map while fighting a fire. The map points out the location where you can find the gold from a church that was stolen in Europe during World War II. The location is in East St. Louis and both men decide to go look for it and be set for life. Once there they witness a murder and suddenly they are trapped in the building that contains the gold with the gangmembers on their heels. The mood of this movie was perfect but a little more action and more fighting wouldn't have hurt. The punches that did happen really sounded brutal. Still I think this must've been one of the first scripts by Zemeckis and Gale. It was interesting but could've been better, maybe after a rewrite. I actually wonder if they knew about this movie being made after all and if they were involved with it. Sometimes I wonder what you might find on unmade movie scripts. Maybe they should do that instead of rebooting everything.

Romeo Must Die. A loose adaption about Shakespeares play set in the present times with Jet Li as a Romeo who falls in love with a black girl named Trish who is involved in a territorial war. Not so great either but Jet Li has of course has great moves. Yet I think I confused this with another Jet Li movie because the ending was not what I thought. I have seen a movie with Jet Li that was sort of a nod to Lethal Weapon 4 where the final fight also takes place on a rainy night. Maybe that was Kiss of the Dragon.

I liked Romeo Must Die. Not bad.

Escape from New York is awesome IMO. But Escape from LA was less entertaining. Still over time i have come to love them all. (Huge Carpenter fan)

Born on the Fourth of July from Oliver Stone with Tom Cruise about Vietnam Vet, Ron Kovic. Very good movie.

Get Out. A horrorfilm starring a black actor (Daniel Kaluuya) in the lead for a change. Kaluuya plays Chris who is in a relationship with a caucasian woman Rose (Allison Williams) and they're about to visit her parents. He is a little hesitant about the visit because he is not certain on how her parents will react on their relationship. As the weekend progress disturbing things happen to him from awkward social interactions to downright horror. A very good and refreshing horrorfilm on meeting the parents.

Buried. Starring Ryan Reynolds. After being ambushed and knocked out cold Paul Conroy (Reynolds) regains consciousness in a small dark place. He's breathing heavy and bleeding from his head. He finds a lighter and a cell phone with him and realizes soon that he has been buried alive in a coffin somewhere in the Iraqi desert. Air is running out and a race against time begins if he is to survive. The phone is running out of battery but is his only connection to the outside world and he tries to contact anyone possible to rescue him. This movie shows what could've happened if they actually did bury MacGyver in Walking Dead.

Atlantic Rim. Um.... A cheap Pacific Rim rip off from Asylum about giant robots fighting with sea monsters and bad actors. You might recognise Graham Greene from Dances With Wolves but um... well... I gotta say Asylum is (in)famous for making terrible movies. They know that themselves, that's their whole point, they just have fun with it and they do try in making every single scene rousing. Even with a simple conversation they score it with intense music. That's cool but the special effects are often very cheesy, monsters look monstrous(ly bad). This movie has like one of the lowest scores on imdb that it's painful. 1.7 out of 10. Not even Police Academy: Mission To Moscow scores this bad.

13. A movie about a kid who work as an electrician and ends up in a Russian Roulette tournament after he lifted an envelope from the man of the house where he worked. Vince takes the man's place after he died from an overdose. He knows he can win a lot of money and pay off the debts of his family and the bills of the hospital where his father is but he doesn't know what he's getting himself into. The movie had a somewhat confusing beginning, the tournament itself was nice but than goes to a disappointing ending. There were few familiar faces: Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke and Ray Winston amongst others. Strangely enough this was a remake of a French Georgian movie by the same writer and director and yet it flopped big time.

Talk about a last minute dash.

Finally got around to watching Beauty and the Beast.


We all know the classic story. Belle (Played by Emma Watson), is taken by a beast and forced to stay in his castle where she befriends it's inhabitant's enchanted staff. Soon she looks through the beast's frightening appearance and finds true beauty within him.

Although this is a very colorful movie with loads of new songs to "freshen" up the classic cartoon, I felt that the live action took something away that the cartoon had. There are many references to the actual cartoon which you will pick up, both visually and musically and the cast do an amazing job of bringing this fairy tale to life. Still, nothing beats the original.

I give this 3 & a half stars.

This is getting scary, man. I saw the same movie last night.

I eventually went to see this one because they were still showing after all this time. It's been out for more than a month now and with all recent and soon to come releases I thought about skipping this one. But I needed to go out last night, so I figured let's go anyway.

This movie was as interesting as the live action Cinderella was but there is one big turn off for me. Almost every other or every two other scenes there is a song. I can dig one or maybe two songs at most but an entire musical, no thanks. Apparently there was a little doubt about doing it is as musical or not. Be Our Guest, I have to admit that was a good song. Belle sings her song at the start, Gaston sings in the tavern, there is singing in the castle, they sing on their way to destroy it, sing, sing, sing. They even made new songs. Despite the songs the movie was as good as Cinderella. And I sure hope more of that is to come minus the songs than.

Rob Roy starring Liam Neeson, Jessica Lange, John Hurt, Tim Roth and Brian Cox. About a man named... Rob Roy.

Neeson plays Rob Roy a Scottish farmer who loans a great deal of money with the Marquess of Montrose (John Hurt) to take care of his people, who are starving and sick, but the man he send to pick up the money is robbed by Arichibald Cunningham (delightfully well played by Tim Roth). The Marquess is willing to give Rob the necessary time to find the man and the money if he in turn is willing to falsely testify against the Duke of Argyll. Rob Roy MacGregor the honourable man that he is refuses to do so and flees and from then on the hunt on him, his family and eventually his people is open. The family falls apart and in the end Rob and Cunningham face each other in what is considered the best filmed sword duel ever.

A very entertaining movie, I might add. Unfortunately the release was not so great and it was clearly overshadowed by that other popular movie about Scotland in 1995: Braveheart. Where Braveheart was mostly an action movie, Rob Roy was a character study but not the boring kind. The movie has action in it as well but clearly spends more time on characters than most movies and is about a man who thinks more of others than himself, even more so that his sense of honour gets in the way of himself and others.

A well deserved 4 stars. Watch it if you can because it might get overlooked because of Braveheart. The movie was also shot on location in Scotland in the real Highlands so far up, they needed a helicopter to get there.

I have Rob Roy. It is indeed a good movie.

Black Hawk Down. A movie I was saw at the theatre during the release and first time I saw it since. Seriously, that cast... Josh Hartnett, Jason Isaacs, Sam Shepard, an unknown Tom Hardy, an unknown Orlando Bloom (this is before LOTR), Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor, Ron Eldard, the guy with the stutter from Pearl Harbor and I probably miss many others. This is set in the Somalian war of the 90's where two American helicopters (Black Hawks) were shot down and a group of soldiers got stuck in a war-torn city engaging into an 18-hour battle. With several deaths and the wounded piling up this was the longest battle with American soldiers since the Vietnam war. Definitely 4 stars.

The Omen. Richard Donner's The Omen starring Gregory Peck. Robert and Kathy Thorn's baby is stillborn in a hospital in Rome. It's June 6, 6 in the morning. Without Kathy knowing about it, Robert and the local priest decide to switch babies and the first five years they live happily together but when their son Damien turns five all sorts of freak accidents starts to happen. From their on Robert is being followed by a journalist and a priest who are trying to warn him about his son, who could possibly be the son of the Devil as more unusual things happen. This movie is set in style and considered by fans as a sequel to Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist. Also during the production it was believed the movie was cursed considering the many accidents including lightning that struck the planes of Gregory Peck and the screenwriter. Both took seperate flights, a producer was nearly struck by lightning, Donner's hotel was bombarded by the IRA and he was run over, the dogs that were used in the film attacked their trainers (even though I also read they preferred playing over acting), a plane that Peck was supposed to take crashed after he cancelled it, several crew members survived a head-on car crash and the same thing happened to the special effects man who had a car accident on the set of A Bridge Too Far in the Netherlands, killing his assistant girlfriend instantly. He himself was knocked out cold and when he came by he saw a sign post saying Ommen. Also to zookeeper of the movie got killed during a scene.

Richard Donner actually believed the movie was cursed and that he would be struck down by the Devil or other evil demonic forces. Yet this movie was his big breakthrough as director following his succes with Superman, The Goonies and Lethal Weapon.

The last one I saw a few days ago, that was Son of Saul, an Hungarian film about a man who finds his adopted son in a concentration camp and tries to give it a proper burial. Critically acclaimed, this one was bad. Even though it showed pretty well on how a concentration camp operated (which is downright evil), it was just poorly filmed in my opinion. Maybe they figured less is more. This was about one man working in a camp mostly on his own, minding his own business trying to find his adopted son. There was just too many long shots in them, mostly four minutes long and you either see the actor from the front or the back. Maybe they wanted to make to feel the viewer what it is like to be a prisoner there and you're pretty much on your own, nobody to trust and everything else happens around him, but he is practically in the shot the whole time but I kinda wanted to be able to see around. Apparently there is an American movie called The Grey Zone which has some resemblance to this movie.

Jumanji and Return To The Blue Lagoon.

Jumanji speaks for itself: 'in the jungle you must wait until the dice read five or eight.'

Return To The Blue Lagoon. A long forgotten semi-sequel/remake of The Blue Lagoon which I have never seen. It's the late 19th century and the boy that was born in the first movie is found adrift between his dead parents on a boat by the people of the ship that was looking for him and his parents in the first place. A woman on board of the ship named Sarah takes the boy in her care along with her own daughter. Yet when the crew is struck by cholera, the captain wants Sarah and the two infants off his ship, so they won't get sick. They are left off board with one of the sailors, who refuse to give water to the children after days on the boat but seems to be having a drinking problem of his own. In the end he threatens to kill the boy who doesn't stop crying. Sarah protects the children like a mother would do and kills the sailor, shortly after they arrive on the island of the original film where both kids grow up into young adults. Sarah succeeds them in raising them more than adequate with a few means and gives them some knowledge of her own education and the Bible. When they're about 12 years old Sarah passes away and they bury her on top of the hill near the signal fire which they intend to use to return back to the world if a ship arrivés. Again several years pass and the kids: Richard and Lilli hit puberty, going through physical and emotional changes they come of age and eventually fall in love and get married in their own way. Their bond deepens intensely until one day a ship arrives and they meet a few sailors, their captain and his spoiled daughter.

Interesting fact: this was Mila Jovovich's debut movie as Lilli and Brian Krause who plays Richard sure looks like Heath Ledger if you ask me.

Alien: Covenant. Not the great sci-fi horror I expected. It was not bad, don't get me wrong but it could've been a whole lot better. I think it's time the Alien returns in a full blown dedicated alien film and reclaim it's rightful postion among the monsters.

Heard more bad than good about the latest Alien. And for that very reason ill probably give it a miss. What we need is a return from Cameron. But its likely never going to happen. Also despite the opinions of many, i still feel that they should have pursued the Prometheus aspect instead of abandoning it. Scott had no choice because the majority of fans wanted the return of the Xenomorphs. He still says that he would like to explore it but I think that ship has sailed.

It was a busy weekend so no movies for me but i did manage to watch one late on Saturday night.



Starring Matt Damon as a warrior fighting in the far east till he battles a strange beast out from nowhere and then inadvertently gets captured by a Chinese army only for them to discover that he has come face to face with one of these beasts and survived.

He soon joins forces with them as they try seize an unstoppable horde of these creatures by preventing them from crossing over their guarded wall.

Forget everything you thought you knew about the Great Wall of China because this movie has re-invented history.

There is enough science fiction to start its own franchise and the sheer wonder of how Damon signed up for this is..well..bewildering.

Historically this movie is a sham. But for a fun popcorn flick, its just that. I have truly seen worse. So i'll give this one 2 & a half stars. But watch the trailers before you rent / buy.

I never really liked Matt Damon. One of the few that makes me think: 'No, not him.' And I'm pretty sure this move suffers the same problem as Arthur. Too much CGI in an epic film set in old times.

Well its like watching Braveheart and then Aliens attack. And you think to yourself, "Huh?"

Sounds like a movie that doesn't know what it's supposed to be.

I did see Jerry Maguire last night. And here by have seen most of Cruise his films now, or at least I think so. Slightly overblown and a bit long too but not a bad word about Tom, you hear? "Show me the moneeeeeey!!!" He plays a succesful manager who starts questioning the morality of his job and expresses it, he gets fired and decides to start on his own along with his only athlete (Cuba Gooding Jr.) who stays with him and the beautiful accountant (Renée Zellweger) of his last firm, who falls in love with him. I liked the ambition Tom expressed in the role, he wants to be in the spotlights again but learns a few lessons on the way in his way with dealing with people's feelings including of his star athlete and the woman he loves. But I think his romance dragged on a bit. He is a busy man and she's a wanting woman. She is desperate for a relationship and a father figure for her son, some cute little blond kid with (too) big glasses. "Do you know the human head weighs 8 pounds?" Meanwhile her older sister (Bonnie Hunt) warns her for men like Jerry Maguire. It was different to see Bonnie Hunt in a divorced frustrated woman role.

Too much the typical romcom in my opinion though Cruise plays very good as always, Zellweger is so beautiful in her part but a little too longing for something in my opinion and cute kids just doesn't do it for me. But I'm glad he grew up by now.

I rather enjoyed Jerry Maguire when it came out. It was quite a hit back then too. I liked his character and the evolution or transition from absent mindedness to fully blown human. And seeing Cruise be that character made it interesting.

The Negotiator. The movie with Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey. Jackson plays a succesful negotiator who ends being accused for the murder on his partner. After this everybody turns against him and he tries to proof his innocence by holding government officials hostage in a Chicago building on 20th floor and demands to negotiate only with Chris Sabian (Spacey) a negotiator from another precinct. While Sabian tries to negotiate, Jackson tries to get to the information he needs to proof his innocence and to keep his former colleagues away who seem very eager to get rid of him. Good movie though.

We havent really seen any movies in a while. It has just been so crazy but i managed to watch Life this weekend.

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station are the first to discover evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. But as their research continues, the life-form they have found starts to evolve into something more terrifying than they imagined.

So basically its Alien. But with an intelligent crew. More or less.

Although it was nice to see this cast working together, very little was presented which gave us anything new. I somehow never see myself watching this movie ever again either, unlike Alien for instance which just has such an iconic theme of terror that you always come back to.

I give it 2 1/2 stars.

I did but I didn't want to spam the topic. Last seen couple of movies were.

Space Cowboys. Starring and directed by Clint Eastwood. About four elder men who finally get to live their dream of going up to space.

The Rock. Everything Michael Bay did before Transformers was fairly decent. The Rock is one of them, a fairly decent movie with a great score by Hans Zimmer and a couple of familiar faces like Sean Connery, Nicholas Cage, Ed Harris, Michael Biehn and David Morse but also Tony Todd and I could've sworn I saw Marshall Teague. You might actually say The Rock is an action movie with Sean Connery as the main character. A lot of actors are being ridiculed for doing action movies at an older age but I think Sean Connery was like one of the first to do it. According to the fans his character Mason is actually James Bond. In all a good movie elevated by a great score.

The Mummy (2017). A movie unfairly destroyed by reviews and critics. Set to be the first movie in the Dark Universe after the flopped Dracula Untold. A universe in which all the famous Universal monsters were supposed to be rebooted in their own films first before meeting each other in a bigger movie like Marvel: The Avengers. So this movie is actually the reboot of the 1999 movie with Brendan Fraser only now Tom Cruise takes the lead who unearths the mummy. Since it's a reboot there are a lot of similarities with the 1999 movie in the structure of the film and there are a few great nods to the film but I think this one is best described as an adventure thriller. The movie relies on suspense most of the time and might explain the somewhat slower paced third act. But as usual Cruise never disappoints, despite what critics may say. I've seen worse movies than this. Now apparently several Universal monster reboots are planned in the coming years. Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman and Van Helsing are planning returns to the big screen including Creature of the Black Lagoon and The Invisible Man with Johnny Depp.

And lastly The Zookeeper's Wife. Based on the true story of the owners of the Warsaw Zoo the Zabinski's during WWII. A nice but not too dramatic war movie. And there lies the problem. When things were about to get intense the movie backs away and loses a lot of the great impact it could've had if it had dug deeper. The Zabinski's are Poles, but not Jewish apparently. When their zoo is taken over by the Germans, they're allowed to remain there. Because of the bombings their animals ran away or were either taken down. With plenty of space left, they decide to start a pigs farm in order to provide the German occupier with meat and to use that as a front to help people escape from the Ghetto. This is actually the kind of war drama, I liked but unfortunately the movie dared not to go so deep as Der Untergang. Maybe it doesn't need to go that deep either but it could've touched the right dramatic vein a little harder like Boy In The Striped Pajamas. In all I mostly went to see Belgian actor Johan Heldenbergh in a major production as he co-stars with the so beautiful redhaired and tender Jessica Chastain. They are the zoo's owners and she sure loves animals. Apparently all the animals were real in the movie and she's always caressing an animal in the early parts of the film. It was a nice attempt but the movie could've been much more if they dared to go deeper.

I was disappointed in Dracula Untold. It really lacked a certain je ne sais quoi.

Still have to watch the Mummy 2017 but willl definitely give it a go sometime. The Rock & Space Cowboys were fun.

Kiefer Sutherland once said in the Joel Schumacher film written by one time MacGyver writer Peter Filardi (The Endangered): It's a good day to die.


Apparently it's that day again and it looks pretty good.

Other news: David Ayer is apparently remaking Scarface that is written by the Coen Brothers.

This one looks awesomely insane.

I read up about Belko. Looks interesting but i haven't seen it yet.

Mad Max: Fury Road. Because it's Mad Max: Fury Road, enough said.
