In many ways the 1999-2008 Mummy series was a bit of an Indiana Jones Spoof but it was fun compared to the reboot.

I got around to watching Thor Ragnarok.


I vaguely recall MG reviewing this one so i wont go into too much detail.
Surprised to learn that he has a sister named Hela, Thor soon feels her wrath when she throws him into an underworld and takes over Asgard as its new leader. But on the other side, Thor attempts to find a way back home even facing off against Hulk himself, who was till now, thought to be missing...

It's really hard to pin point what they are trying to do with the Thor character. If you watch the first movie, strong themes of love and betrayal are present making it such a rich and emotional movie. The sequel however became so much darker and flat. Gone were the emotions and it was all about wrath and destruction. Then comes number 3 filled with jokes and humor even when there is nothing to laugh about. This movie was made to entertain a crowd with enough slapstick to go all round but i have to wonder at the imbalance and question Marvel's approach to the series.Although its not a bad entry, its just not a great one. 3 stars.

That was the whole point. They wanted to make it Indiana Jones-ish, yet it is still different. I think also The Mummy was the first old fashion adventure movie since The Last Crusade.

Ragnarok was a disaster. I barely remember anything of the other two. I think I just liked the first one because Kenneth Branagh was the director.

Anyway last night I have seen:

Beneath the Planet of the Apes.

After Taylor's disappearance Brent was send to find him as he crashed also on the Planet of the Apes. Pretty much like Taylor in the previous movie he meets with Nova and is brought to Ape-city where he meets Zira and Cornelius who tends his wounds but has to run when the other apes discover him. The apes are planning to invade the Forbidden Zone (where Taylor has disappeared). Along with Nova, they outrun the apes and find a tunnel leading... Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Beneath the planet they find the remains of the New York subway that leads them to a mutated human form who are worshipping a nuclear bomb which they consider as a weapon of peace. There Brent also reunites with Taylor and together with Nova they try to prevent the use of the bomb while Dr. Zaius and his army of apes are about to invade.

A decent sequel actually but not as classic as the original, of course. 3 stars.

10,000 BC.

In the year 10,000 BC, D'Leh of the Yagahl tribe is growing up to become a great warrior. He befriends Evolet, an orphan girl with blue eyes that has been taken in the tribe. One day according the prophecy she and her tribesmen will be taken to work as slaves for the Almighty. D'Leh, his father's best friend and his son along with Baku takes on the mission to follow to taken villagers and bring them home. This leads them over the then known world from the Great White Mountains, to the jungle and the deserts leading them to what should be ancient Egypt while at the same time they are gathering tribes from all around the continent to march against the Almighty.

This movie was a welcome change in Roland Emmerich's otherwise world-destructing career. Maybe not the best movie either but an entertaining one nevertheless. This is more like Emmerich's Apocalypto but far from as brutal. This is an epic movie for 12-year olds, easy to understand and mostly in English. 3 stars.

I wouldnt go so far as to call Ragnarok a disaster. It was still fun to watch but in comparison to the others, each movie had a will of its own and they are hard to wing together.

The Commuter.

Liam Neeson and Jaume Collet-Serra's fourth movie together. They made Non-Stop, Run All Night and Unknown before. This one is in the vein of Non-Stop except it is set on a train instead of a plane. Liam plays Michael MacCauley an ex-cop who became an insurance salesman who gets fired and ends up having a really bad day. 10 years of service, down the drain and 10 years on the same train. After having a few beers with his ex-partner he takes the train home but on the ride he is approached by a woman who asks him if he is willing to do something to someone without getting affected himself and earns 100,000 dollars for it. He needs to find someone before the final stop who carries a bag but he doesn't know who the person is or what the bag looks like or else everyone dies.

After Run All Night I read that Neeson was going to take it a little easier taking on more dramatic roles than playing the action hero. Though I don't feel The Commuter was his big return. Neeson looks a bit older, worn down and tired in this one. The movie wasn't his best nor his worst but you would think the actor and director who worked three times before on better movies would do better. Then again it just might've been the script. 2,5 stars.

Rumble Fish.

Rusty James, his friend Smokey and Steve are part of a gang once led by the Motorcycle Boy, James' older brother. Motorcycle Boy disappeared one day to California while Rusty James always looked up to him wanting to lead his brother's life. While his brother is way, Rusty James is throwing away his life. He gets kicked out of school, drinks and smokes and fights on the street. One fight nearly killed him if it wasn't for his brother. Thinking everything will become like they once were Motorcycle Boy tries to explain him his eyes opened while he was away. When Motorcycle Boy is about to commit one more crime he makes Rusty James promise he should get out of town and go to California as he once did.

A great movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola starring a young Matt Dillon, Nicolas Cage, Diane Lane and Mickey Rourke. Deliberately shot in black and white to show how Motorcycle Boy sees the world. 3,5 stars.

The Butterfly Effect, Director's Cut.

Evan Trebor is a young adult who suffered from severe blackouts during his childhood. As he grew up, they become less and less but when he reads one of his journals the past hits him like brick. Evan finds out he has the ability to go back into his past and can change whatever he likes. As a kid Evan lived with his single mom in a small village along with his friends Kayleigh, Lenny and Tommy. Most of his blackouts take place during traumatizing moments in his childhood and his mother thinks he uses them to get out of trouble. When Evan is in college he goes back in time trying to change his past and that of his friends in order so they would lead happy lives. But whatever he changes in the past has severe consequences for the future.

Imagine Blood Brothers but like 10 times more tragic and MacGyver has the ability to go back in time and change what happened to Jesse but everytime he changes something, the future changes in way he can't imagine. This was alongside Requiem For A Dream one of the first depressing films I have ever seen. The movie reflects the mood I was often in as a teenager. It is a pretty dramatic dark movie on emotional level as Evan desperately tries to change his past in order to make sure he and his friends lead happy lives. There is no gore in it but psychologically dark twisted things happen.

Just for the record if you watch this movie, try to see the director's cut which features an alternate ending. That was like the biggest surprise to me since I always saw the theatrical version. There are actually four different endings. Anyway this gets 3 stars from me.

The weekend saw me watching Non-Stop


This action thriller starring Liam Neeson taking to the skies playing troubled Air Marshall Bill Marks on a flight to London when he mysteriously starts receiving a series of text messages demanding that he instructs the airline to transfer $150 million into an offshore account, or a passenger will die every 20 minutes.

A number of movies jump into light such as Flightplan, Passenger 57 and even Die Hard 2. There are a number of surprises and makes for a fun watch. I give it 3 & Half stars.

Escape From The Planet Of The Apes.

The third Apes-movie. Zira and Cornelius salvaged Taylor's spaceship and used it to escape their planet when it got ultimately destroyed in the second film. They however end up in the same time hole as Taylor did in the first movie and Cornelius and Zira are transported back in time to the year 1973 and crashes the ship off the coast of Los Angeles. Originally welcomed by the species that ruled the earth before they did, they are considered a threat in the end by one person who fears they might start taking over the world.

This third movie makes a very interesting and unusual entry in the franchise by making a very bold move leaving the serious sci-fi classic and the action film the second film was behind by steering the franchise into comedy territory without overdoing it. There are few heartwarming moments in which Zira and Cornelius show their love in front of a crowded commission. Zira is even downright adorable in a few scenes. If it wasn't for the typical villainous presidential advisor who insists on taking them out this could've been easily a classic comedy by now. Not that I mind though but the movie does have quite a dark ending but with nice little twist to it. 3 stars.

Lost Highway.

Fred Madison is a saxophonist in a club and married to Renee. Their childless marriage causes a bizarre form of tension. One morning somebody rings the bell with the message that Dick Laurent is dead. In the following days strange videotapes appear which shows the exterior and interior of their house. The couple is being watched even as they sleep. One morning Fred is watching a new tape all alone and is arrested for murder. In jail he suffers from insomnia and massive headaches. Meanwhile Pete Dayton is working for a Mr. Eddy who wants Dayton to fix his cars. When Dayton meets Eddy's lover Alice they start an affair and plan to run away when she fears Eddy is on to them.

This was David Lynch's return to the big screen after Twin Peaks' failure. I think this was like the second movie I have seen from him after Mulholland Drive, which is his best. Lost Highway is very good as well if you like Lynch's style which is dark, bizarre and dreamy. Ever since Mulholland Drive I got hooked on his style but it's clearly not for everyone. Anyway Lost Highway gets 4 stars from me.

Tsunami: The Tidal Wave.

One of Korea's most expensive movies at 16 million dollars. Or at least it was at the time. The title speak for itself as the movie is a disaster film as there were many before in Hollywood but this was Korea's first. A tsunami is coming towards a little Korean island and there are only ten minutes to evacuate. This was made quite typical. The first half of the movie is on the rather slow side. It shows the main characters leading their own lives before the disaster hits. Everything is taking their natural courses. A new couple is made, one is couple is seperated and a third is unsure if they can ever be together. While the guy from the couple that is seperated is desperately trying to make clear a new tsunami is coming, he is not heard. Of course he is right and the second half of the movie is all about the special effects which looks pretty decent if not still a little cheap but not as cheap as all that syfy or Asylum stuff. If it wasn't for the slow first half this would've been better but 2,5 stars are well deserved.

Death Bell.

On a Saturday morning about 20 Korean students and 3 schoolteachers are in school for special examinations. During the examination their attention is drawn to a live video feed that shows them one of the students is being held in a tank that fills up with water and they have to find the answer to a question that might release her before time runs out and others are targeted. In short this is a Korean version of a Saw movie. Though not as gore as a Saw movie, it is a serious thriller. 3 stars.

Stand By Me.

Based on a short story by Stephen King. Four kids take off on a weekend through the woods to find a body they heard about on the radio. On their journey they seem to be coming of age in their pre-teens and learns about friendship and themselves. But they're not only ones looking for it as the local bullies do too in order to steal their thunder.

This was yet another one that reminded me of a movie version for Blood Brothers. The kids may even resemble MacGyver, Jesse, Chuck and Neil a bit. I think it depends on how you look at it though. But MacGyver would definitely be Chris (River Phoenix), Neil might be Gordie (Will Wheaton), Jesse could be Teddy Duchamps (Cory Feldman) and Chuck might Vern (Jerry O' Connel). MacGyver as Chris because he is like the leader of the group while Gordie is actually the right hand man. I always saw Neil as the right hand man, especially as a grown up. Chuck as Vern is simply for appearance. Vern is actually just the fat kid and Chuck was a little on the chubby side as a grown up. Jesse as Teddy Duchamps, well simply because there's no one else left. Though it might seem weird Duchamps does show some guts while Jesse was less sure of himself.

Anyway it was great movie though nothing really spectacular happens. There's hardly any score in it. Mostly 4 boys growing up and as they do say in the end when they come back nothing seemed the same. Anyway I'd give 3,5 stars.

Love it!

Secret Window. A movie with Johnny Depp from David Koepp based on the story of Stephen King. It wasn't that good at all. Even Depp couldn't keep the movie straight. 2 stars.

Last night I went to a Fifty Shades marathon. I merely went out of curiousity and the genre was one of the only ones I haven't seen on the big screen. The content is not an easy thing to make a movie about for the mainstream audience without going to certain lengths. Anastasia Steele (Ana) meets Christian Grey and they fall in love. Grey has an interest in BDSM and wants Ana as his next slave. Though Ana gives in to her feelings, Grey is more strained in it and tries to release that in his peculiar interests and sets up rules and punishments for Ana. This movie will not breath life into a genre that briefly sparked at the end of the 80's and early 90's with movies like Fatal Attraction, Basic Instict, Sliver or Showgirls (the downfall of the genre). A shame maybe somewhere because I think the erotic thriller or drama is a worthy genre. But not even a bestseller book can become a decent movie for several and various reasons. The content might be difficult too handle. You can go too far too easy with this and toning down... Maybe it would've worked better as an independent trilogy rather than a commercial one.

I think the first was the best because they didn't shy away from the content too much. But the S&M stuff became less and less in the second and third movie where it was more about their relationship as a couple then as a slave and her master. Also the second and third involved more drama and a little more action wouldn't have hurt either. If they really love each other I would've liked to see Grey kicks someone's butt for Ana's honor. And there was a great opportunity for that in the third.

Fifty Shades of Grey. 2,5 stars.
Fifty Shades Darker. 2 stars.
Fifty Shade Freed. 2 stars.

But in all, did you miss out on anything? Not really. This pretty much confirms something I had already known with sagas like Twilight, The Hunger Games and Divergent. Books that became bestsellers overnight and are almost immediately adapted in major motion pictures are best avoided.

Watched that recently as well since it aired on German TV.

It wasn't like a WOW-movie I would watch again as soon as possible, but it wasn't bad. Fun watch after work when you want some entertainment but don't want to think too much.

I've read all these books and seen most of the movies, but I only loved Twilight .

No, the Twilight books are not Nobel-prize-worthy or anything. But it took me like only a few pages to get sucked in and to fall in love with the characters, however strange and weird they are .

The movies.... hm. I felt the first one was the best. The book was written by a woman for women and the movie was directed and produced by women for women. It was more or less an indie movie with a minimal budget. Then came the financial success and people (aka Lionsgate) got greedy; shoving men in to direct, adding half-naked guys in every scene and CGI that was apparently so expensive that they couldn't afford proper wigs anymore . It really feels like the studio was intent on releasing the movies as fast as possible; burning out their main cast with the constant filming and promo cycle over 5 years.


"Fifty Shades" was originally Twilight FanFiction, so since the ground material isn't that well written, the FanFiction wasn't either. And exchanging the names and changing hair color doesn't really change that fact. The movies have a big budget and are well done, but I just don't really care for the movie-characters that much, even though I like the main cast.


The Hunger Games books are well written and the movies are well directed with a good cast and great sets and costumes (due to the bigger budget than e.g. Twilight had), but I really didn't care for the last installment (books nor movies). Action and drama is fine, but the last book was too anticlimatic for me and the movies too dark.


Divergent - the first book was great, but then it felt like the author lost interest or something. Also, I just couldn't connect with Tris as the main character in the 2nd and 3rd book. I've only seen the first movie, but I feel that maybe this material would have been better as a TV show instead of a movie franchise. They tried to build on the hype of Twilight and the Hunger Games movies, but that didn't really work out. I think they're planning a reboot now as a TV show, actually after the last movie flopped.

Well my Neeson marathon continues and this time i saw Unknown.

Attending a summit in Berlin with his wife, Dr. Martin Harris' visit is cut short after he is involved in a serious car accident and end up in hospital with distorted memories of his past and to a wife who does not recognize him. Soon enough he is hunted down by assassins and goes on the run in the hopes of unleashing this chaos.

To me this is a combination of Nowhere Man (The TV series), Total Recall & The Bourne Identity. And although it tries to fit the genre of the above mentioned, it fails to deliver as effectively as those titles. Neeson is a great actor and really tries to keep this movie together and for what its worth makes for an adequate and mildly fun movie. I give it 2& a half stars.

Last night i decided to watch the Matrix again.

By now I am sure most of you have seen this highly successful series but for those who have not, Thomas Anderson is by day a dreamer who slacks at his job as a software developer but by night is a notorious hacker going by the name of Neo in search of Morpheus, an elusive figure know to have the answer to the greatest question Neo is trying to solve. "What is the Matrix?". Through the assistance of Trinity, another apparent hacker, Neo finally meets Morpheus who unleashes a life-changing reality upon him and changes his life forever in a battle of magnascopic proportions against dangerous agents and impossible realities.

It was a game-changing movie of its time and gained millions of fans. The digital effects were jaw dropping and it spawned 2 successful sequels. I give it 4 stars.

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. The fourth movie of the original five movies. This one was the least interesting so far, or I was too tired, I don't know. This movie is set 20 years after the last one. It's 1991 and America has became a police state. Apes are now the servants of humanity after a mysterious plague wiped out all dogs and cats. Armando the circus owner who took care of Zira's and Cornelius' baby after they were slaughtered is in town to promote his circus and now has a full grown ape with him which he renamed Caesar. In town Caesar witnesses the atrocities his kind has to endure from the humans and accidently blows his cover by speaking. Armando tries to take the blame while Caesar runs away and goes undercover with his own kind. However he is brought to Ape Management, where they train apes to serve mankind. When he finds out his carer did not live to see another day, Caesar turns against humanity and leads a revolution that will eventually lead to the Planet of the Apes.

This was actually the original Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Most basic elements were taken for the remake and the leader is named Caesar as well. But the movie was rather slow leaving the warmth that made the third movie so great. Despite maybe a less interesting entry, Caesar's final speech was great. 2,5 stars.

One I haven't seen in years.


Broken Arrow was like the best action movie in that year.

This was one of those movies that made me think it could've been a great MacGyver episode or even a movie. Just imagine Christian Slater as MacGyver and John Travolta as Murdoc. They start off as friends and Murdoc betrays him by stealing two nuclear weapons for HIT. Phoenix or DXS works together with the military to follow up the situation while MacGyver is out in the field meeting an attractive park ranger and tries to stop Murdoc. As a matter of fact in the movie Christian Slater does a nice MacGyverism during a car chase in the desert. Everything is in it, car chases, mineshafts, trains, explosions, (gun)fights, a great score by Hans Zimmer anything a classic actioner needs. 3,5 stars.

Author Paul Sheldon is on his way to his publicist in the midst of a blizzard. He slips off the road with his car and ends up having his legs broken and a dislocated shoulder. He is found and nursed back to health by his number one fan Annie Wilkes. To show his appreciation he lets Annie read his latest story on Misery. Delighted she starts reading but loses his temper on the ending and forces him to write a new story. Bed ridden or wheelchair bound he starts to write a new book while Annie becomes increasingly unstable around Paul.

Imagine Faith, Hope & Charity as a psychological thriller. MacGyver being terrorized by two old ladies after he stepped in that wolf clamp. Now wouldn't that be interesting? Anyway, it was great movie with great performances of James Caan and Kathy Bates. Especially the latter which immediately gave her an Oscar for her role. Though she was in the business for quite a while she was relatively unknown at the time. Interesting casting of the publicist (Lauren Bacall) and apparently the sheriff's wife was on the phone with a guy named Jim Taylor. Anyway the movie gets 4 stars.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle.

So, it finally happened after 22 long years. A sequel to Jumanji. The magic board game where scary things come out of and sucks in defenseless 11 year olds and holds them prisoner for 26 years. Only this time the movie takes place inside of the game itself. Four teens who ends up in detention and has to clean out the school basement finds Jumanji which now has transformed into a videogame. They decide to play to game and get sucked into it and they get transformed in their choosen Avatars. They have to work together to finish to game so they can be transported back to their own reality.

You really have to backtrack to where this kind of concept has been used before. Only Tron comes to mind and Last Action Hero. But it's all very renewing and refreshing. This is the kind of movie you can watch with your kids, just as with the original. Even though it is not as dark as the first movie, there is a little more violence in it but it's all in good fun. 3,5 stars.

A sequel is on it's way returning the actors from inside the game.

The weekend got me watching 2 movies. Firstly was Jupiter Ascending.

Released in 2015 and starring Mila Kunis as a young girl called Jupiter Jones, born under a special time that would predict her destiny for greatness just ends up being a average ordinary housecleaning girl. That is until a hunter from another world arrives on Earth to find her. It doesnt take toolong before she realizes her life is in danger against the forces of the most insane alien races in the galaxy.

This was the Wachowski's latest offering after the success of the Matrix & Cloud Atlas however the movie carries too much weight in its scope of story-line which almost makes you wish they broke it down to introduce you to this world more subtly.The first 5 minutes of this movie are the most intriguing but as soon as you start to see there is a bigger picture involved, you as an audience will start to lose the bigger picture.

The movie was a box office disappointment and it seems like all the critics have pretty much nailed it on the same topic. Still, it certainly was not the worst movie i have ever seen. It could have been MUCH better instead Jupiter Ascending could bring you down to looking at your watch wondering when its all going to be over. I give it 2 & a half stars.

Then next up as Pitch Perfect 3.

After winning the acapella world Championship, the Bellas have now split and have gone their separate ways wit little to no results in their music careers until an opportunity presents itself to reunite and compete in a USO tour. But their competition are a whole new game using synths and instruments. This with the added complications of their current personal lives.

It's another Pitch Perfect with the entire cast returning for one more showdown. It's fun to watch and there's loads of new jokes lined up along the way. Personally, It's not as good (IMO) as the prior 2 but will still please its fans. I give it 3 stars.

Battle for the Planet of the Apes. The fifth and final installment in the original Ape series. In the year 2670 the Lawgiver tells the story about the battle that took place in the year 2001, ten years after the apes took over the world. A nuclear war has destroyed most of the planet. While apes and mankind seemingly live peacefully, General gorilla Aldo has different ideas and plans to get rid of Caesar and take over Ape City.

I enjoyed this one a little more than the previous installment but it was clear it had run out of steam. 2,5 stars.

Journey To The Center Of The Earth.

Based on the book of Jules Verne this family oriented adventure is about Trevor Anderson played by Brendan Fraser, a scientist who sees the work of his brother going down the drain. When his nephew shows up and go through some of his brother's stuff they find the book of Jules Verne with all sorts of notes in that fits in with the research Trevor has been doing. Together they make a trip to Iceland, where Trevor's brother has disappeared 10 years ago. With a local guide they... Journey To The Center Of The Earth and have an adventure of a lifetime.

Another family-oriented adventure starring Brendan Fraser, this one is great for kids and adults at the same time with quite spectacular action sequences and a great MacGyverism. 3,5 stars.

A sequel was made with The Rock in the lead and more sequels were planned but are currently cancelled due to lack of interest and difficulties to adapt the books.

Talking about sequels: The Rock will get his own spin-off movie on his character Luke Hobbs from The Fast and the Furious alongside Jason Statham's character. Wondering how that will turn out.

I'm a bit late to game on this one... I've been somewhat distracted with offline stuff.

I've watched all the Twilight movies, my sister read all the books. We compare the series as entertainment junk food. lol I had a friend in NY that couldn't get anyone to go see the Twilight movies with her, so I went. We'd go to the movies and then go out for margaritas afterward. Though the movies aren't my thing, they were enjoyable. Like... eat a pint of ice cream for dinner type of enjoyable. lol You feel guilty, but no regret.

Supernatural REALLY loves to poke fun at Twilight. They even dedicated an entire episode to making fun of the series. But, to be fair, they make fun of everyone... themselves, fans, fangirls... XD



But, 50 Shades? Totally NOT my thing. XD

I did get to watch the live action Fullmetal Alchemist movie last night. It was okay. The Anime is so much better. If anyone hasn't watched the Anime, I would recommend Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It's the best out of the two because it's closer to the actual manga. The movie smooshed both versions of the anime into one movie, and they changed a lot and left a lot of stuff out... stuff I thought might have been important.

My friend is going to watch it today, and he's supposed to let me know what he thought of it. We're both big fans of Brotherhood. Excellent Anime. If you've never watched Anime, give it a go. You won't be disappointed. It is a bit too disturbing for kids though.

The movie itself is good enough to watch at least once, just to see how it compares. I give it a 3 out of 5.

I always preferred the sequel to Center of the Earth. Shame that other sequels were cancelled.

That Supernatural spoof is hilarious!

Haven't actually seen the live action Full Metal Alchemist but ill definitely check it out! However i am in the same boat as you when it comes to live action remakes of classic anime.

They're developing an Akira movie to which i am skeptical. Ghost in the Shell was okay. But the anime is MUCH better. And as for Death Note, that was just an embarrassment. Th live action version was poor in comparison.

Now i fear for the worst as they try to develop a live action Robotech.

Apt Pupil.

Student Todd Bowden succeeds in tracking down Kurt Dussander a former camp guard from World War II. He blackmails him into telling stories of the war, everything that was left out of the school and history books. Dussander agrees and the two make somewhat of an uncomfortable friendship that absorbs all of Todd's time. The more Dussander tells him the more Todd's personality is affected. But stirring up the past also affects Dussander who seems to be reconnecting with his Nazi image.

Biggest reason for me to find this movie was because Ian McKellen mentioned it several times in the interviews I saw on X-Men as this is his first collaboration with Bryan Singer. The movie is not about the war or Nazism per se but it is used as background in the character study of evil and cruelty and on how it affects everyone and can turn everyone into murderer. The movie is pretty dark but it was not a major hit at all. Though it wasn't supposed to be one either, it could've been far more brutal then it was. Couple of familiar faces besides Ian McKellen like Brad Renfro, Joe Morton, David Schwimmer and if you pay attention James Karen (Papillion from Fraternity of Thieves). 2,5 stars.

Interesting, didn't hear about the Akira one. I do know they're making a live action version of Attack on Titan... now that is one disturbing Anime. I haven't even attempted to watch the Ghost in the Shell movie. It's too "Hollywood" for my tastes.

The Rurouni Kenshin live actions movies weren't bad though. I actually kinda liked those.

But, I'm assuming there will be at least another Fullmetal Alchemist movie, if not more... just with how this last one ended. My friend hasn't watched it... so I'm still waiting to hear his opinion on it.

My sister and I saw Black Panther on Friday. I've heard some pretty good things about it, so we had to check it out.

Marvel movies aren't really my thing though. I don't as excited about them as some of my friends do. But the movie has some super cool elements to it and I really enjoyed it. If you're a fan of Marvel, it's a must see!

My friend finally saw the Fullmetal Alchemist movie. He hated it. He apparently stopped watching it and switched to Brotherhood to "heal the wound". lol

I'm not sure why they keep trying to make live action movies out of these Animes... they're never really that good. It's like anytime they make a movie out of a video game. Of course, a lot of those movies are directed by hacks... like Uwe Boll.

Seems like Disney has been making the better adaptions as of late.

Good to know. Black Panther is def on my list. Used to love the hero as a kid.

Escape From New York.

The classic John Carpenter starring Kurt Russell, Lee Van Cleef, Donald Pleasance and Tom Atkins. The Air Force One has crashed in New York. The president was able to escape on the last moment in an evacuation pod but was taken captive but the Duke and his gangmembers. Criminal Snake Plissken has been send by the government to bring him back. Only ever since 1988 crime rate went up by 400% and by the year 1997 New York has turned into a giant penitentiary. Plissken has been given less than 24 hours to find him or he will die himself.

Despite the movie is nearly a classic, I didn't think it was that good. The movie was indeed a bit slow and the action sequences are not spectacular at all but there were a few great shots of a dystopian New York. The movie is set mostly at night which gives the New York skyline something creepy. I only give the movie 2,5 stars.

But it would I think have been another interesting MacGyverish episode. Think of Pete being the President of the United States and MacGyver is actually Snake complete with eye patch and he has to get him out of New York. Besides the score of the movie reminded me some of early MacGyver episodes. I think what the movie did needed was a little improvisation or MacGyverism-like scenes.
