Like San Andreas Into The Storm knows pretty much what it is and what it isn't, that makes it enjoyable.

Yeah, it's really slow getting into it, but then the storms hit and BAM, I'm hooked.

But then I kinda like watching natural disasters, so long as I'm not experiencing them myself. Especially if it's fiction, since then no one else is either, lol.

Natural disaster movies are all the same. Hero says: something big is going to happen. Government says: no it isn't. Hero appears to be right. But if done properly the movies can be enjoyable.

I just like watching the actual disaster.

I forgot if I mentioned this already, but I watched Geostorm some weeks ago.

I always loved disaster movies, or like post-apocalyptic type stuff. I supposed it's a morbid fascination?

But some times they get a bit ridiculous. Movies like Volcano gave me serious tension headaches. For instance, I have a thing about people melting... like acid or whatever. It freaks me out. Or anything with needles in eyeballs. That is a whole lot of nope.

But the guy that melts in lava in Volcano gave me nightmares for a while.

Nope, don't like it... nope, nope, nope.

I don't think I've seen Into The Storm though. I'll have to check it out. Nobody melts in it, right?

Geostorm by Dean Devlin. I wonder where he got his inspiration from.

Nothing wrong with these movies at all though. I even have seen movies like Category 6, 7 and 8. Forgetable made-for-tv stuff but if they would just bother to make it a feature film, it would be entertaining.

That was like the best part in Volcano about the fireman melting. So I suppose you can't handle Raiders of the Lost Ark when the Nazis melt or in Temple of Doom when they sacrifice the man to Kali either?

Nobody melts in Into The Storm, it's about tornadoes. They just get blown away. Whiii.

The ending of Raiders is the reason I don't like melting people. Same with the remake of The Blob. I watched it when I was FAR too young. Freaked me out. I can watch it, but it makes me a tad uncomfortable. The sacrifice in Temple of Doom I don't really watch either. My mother actually cut it out when she recorded if off TV back in the day... on VHS tapes. XD She also cut out the part when Indiana Jones was forced to drink blood.

I've since seen the movies in its entirety as I have all the movies on DVD.

And cool, cool. I'll certainly check out Into The Storm.

Movie sacrilege! Cutting out the good parts.

Back home, I remember watching Temple for the first time. It was simple: close your eyes, or no movie. The meant hands before my eyes during the dinner scene and the heart ripping out and probably the blood drinking scene. I was like 6 maybe 7 at the time. However by the time I was 8 or 9, I had like seen the movie a hundred times and it never bothered me. Before that I had to make due with the Last Crusade because it was the least bad one on gore, only when Donovan died but I got over that quickly. Oddly enough for a short time I thought the face melting or the snake in the mummie's mouth was worse then Temple but the years thought me otherwise.

It's pretty much simple in my book. If you want to watch those kinds of films, you will watch it in it's entirety, no hands, no pillows, no fastforwarding... you will experience the movie as it is meant to be.

I was pretty young (7-10) with most of those movies: Jurassic Park, Lethal Weapon 2&3 (wasn't allowed to see Lethal Weapon because of the torture, then again by the age of 10 and behind my mothers back of course, didn't bother me), Indiana Jones and the Rocky-movies.

The only one that did scare the hell out of me for a long time was Carrie. It wasn't until the remake, I saw the original again. Actually it is one hell of a movie though. Well acted by Sissy Spacek, great directing of Brian De Palma. I remember my mother was not happy about it and unfortunately at the time she was right about it because I was scared stiff when I had to go to bed. What did I expect? I don't know but a girl covered in blood who destroys the prom and eventually has to kill her mother... rather scary stuff at that age. But I'm way over that now, I'm a big fan of it and first times hardly ever goes right. You'll get over it and in the end you just want more and worse. I've seen some twisted movies and I don't mind admitting, I got my eye out for the next one. It doesn't hurt to look broader then simply Hollywood like French, British, Spanish, German and Asian films. If you can imagine those films where the rules of Hollywood doesn't apply... that's a whole different ball game.

Raiders was meant to be a scene topping film. Most of the ideas were already with Lucas and Spielberg at the time of the first but they simply had no time to put them all in so they used a lot of it in Temple. But then when Temple was released they got a lot of flack from critics saying it was too dark. It didn't stop them though as Last Crusade was originally meant to be about a haunted castle but when Spielberg improved on the idea and gave the script to a few Shakespearean play writers and it started to evolve into what we ultimately remember.

Natural disaster films are a little predictable but at times they can be enjoyable as MG mentioned. I guess we all have our personal favorites. For me I enjoyed the Towering Inferno, The Impossible, The Perfect Storm and Twister. These films were different and somewhat superior IMO. The others, although fun to watch, became clones of each other or lacked the thrill of the event. Again just my opinion.

I do watch a lot of Japanese horror movies. In my opinion, their horror movies tend to be a bit more superior than Hollywood horror movies. Big fan of the Japanese live action Rurouni Kenshin movies. A lot of the international stuff on Netflix is usually dubbed, and poorly dubbed most of the time.

I always keep an eye out on anything interesting. Right now, I'm on an Anime kick.

Carrie never scared me, but I sympathized with Carrie. But I never liked seeing people get bullied by others. I find it inexcusable in most circumstances. The movie mostly pissed me off.

Towering Inferno was one of my Mom's favorite movies. lol Good old Steve McQueen.

I thought Temple was supposed to be the haunted castle thing? Crusade was just set in a castle full of Nazis for a few scenes.

To be honest, I thought Into The Storm was superior over Twister. Twister had a character that was along for the ride against her will, complaining the entire movie and I think right before the actual ending, she just leaves. Was like the most worthless character ever. At least had her die or something, but nope. Of course Twister had his popularity or there wouldn't have been pinball machine made of it. And Paxton and Hunt were good.

Japanese horror are indeed superior yet always almost the same. It's mostly about a dead girl with black hair over her face and white pajamas. The only one that I remember that wasn't like that was the movie Infection. Set in a nearly deserted hospital, a strange virus breaks loose after the staff loses a patient in suspicious circumstances. Very good if you like a hospital setting.

For those that have seen Into The Storm, tell me I'm not the only one who hated those two idiot guys. I never felt bad for them when they got sucked up. I was like, "Yup, they had it coming," and then in the end, right before the credits... They're still alive -_-

She was supposed to be the thorn in his new life. If it wasn't for the turn of events, they might have never got back together again. Into the Storm was still a clone of Twister.

And yes. Last Crusade was the haunted castle one. Thanks heaven it wasn't.

No not Helen Hunt. Another character. I think it was his girlfriend Melissa because it was so obvious he would get back with Helen Hunt at the end.

Earthquake. Since we were talking about disaster movies... they aired this old disaster movie from the 70's starring Charlton Heston, George Kennedy and Richard Roundtree. I guess you know the ingrediënts of this kind of movie. Interesting to see was how they would handle such destruction in the early days of the blockbuster with no CGI. But the movie was a bit of a letdown for me. Didn't miss anything, should've watched Deadly Hallows instead. 2 stars.

On a sidenote apparently: the shooting of this movie began and ended on a day earthquakes happened in L.A.

Going to see Antman tonight...Will let you know!

I liked it! Pretty much non-stop action and multifaceted suspense, as well as an open ending for another sequel.

I haven't seen any of the Antman movies. I should, because... David Dastmalchian. lol

My sister and I rented Tomb Raider, based off the new games. It was pretty good! Probably one of the better video game adaptations out there.

Lol, as I type this, I'm watching the first Ant-Man. Because of David Dastmalchian.

LOL! He is pretty awesome! Its on my list of movies to watch. I'm kinda behind on movies right now. I need to watch the last two X-Men movies as well.

I just finished watching the last Godzilla movie. It was pretty good. Definitely better than the one back in 1999 with Matthew Broderick. I know my Mom loved that movie though, but she was a big Godzilla fan. lol I thought this one was a fun watch.

Unfortunately, Dastmalchian didn't show up much in the first film, not that I expected him too. I still want to see the newest one, though.

We finally saw Incredibles 2.
They sure took their time to make a sequel. 14 years? Continuing directly after the events of the last movie, our friendly family of supers get whipped by the law when they are forced to quit the superhero business until a rich businessman named Winston Deavor and his sister devise a plan to bring the heroes back the right way and all seems to go pretty well until a new sinister villain by the name of Screenslaver emerges and turns all their attempts upside down.

The first film focused on Mr Incredible and the sequel focuses more on Elastigirl as well as the others but the change was fresh and kept this one right up with the first. A good sequel with some really funny moments including the baby Jack Jack.

for a Disney Pixar film i give it 4 stars.

Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows part 1.

Harry, Hermoine and Ron sets out to find the Horcruxes to destroy Voldemort. While Voldemort gathers his forces the trio faces difficult challenges to find the Horcruxes but also about their friendship.

That's the short version. This movie is different than the previous six. Harry sets out on a quest instead of going to his next year at Hogwarts. Since he's not going to Hogwarts this time, I think a lot of the innocent fantastical magic is left out. While usually I like darker takes on things the abscence of Hogwarts makes the Harry Potter world kinda cold. Also the story seemed more character driven than on special effects which makes it less spectacular. I think I have to put this one next to the Order of the Phoenix as one of the least interesting ones. 3,5 stars.

I've been somewhat iffy on Disney/Pixar films over the years. I did watch Coco, which was a pretty good movie.

I've been watching White Fang on Netflix, which is a Netflix Original animated movie. Made me think of Dragondog. Pretty well animated movie, actually.

Still prefer the 1991 version with Ethan Hawke, but for what it is, I liked it! It was rather cute.

I finally saw Bright on Netflix.



Set in an an alternate universe to our own where humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been coexisting since the beginning of time, Two police officers, one a human, the other an orc, embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it when they stumble across a magic wand powerful enough to alter reality itself. But with everyone wanting to get their hands on it, the lives of the officers are soon put to the test.

I have heard a lot of mixed reactions to this film. Some applauding it while others found it meh. I personally enjoyed it thoroughly. I found many references to Alien Nation (A lot) as well as Lord of the Rings. And to me it just worked. A little bit of vulgar language but the "Night of hell" feel made the film move forward quickly and unexpectedly.

I give Bright a very generous 4 stars.

Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows part 2.

Harry, Hermoine and Ron are still looking for the remaining Horcruxes to defeat Voldemort who set his sights on Hogwarts and prepares his forces to launch a full scale attack. Harry, Hermoine and Ron return to Hogwarts to face their greatest threat ever.

This movie delivers the goods where part 1 was mostly character driven. The shortest out of 8 movies there was plenty of action to be had. While it took me a long time to become fan I think the franchise started great and ends with a bang. 4 stars.

Eve of Destruction.

A 3-hour tv mini-series about two scientists trying to use dark energy with a particle accelerator. Their experiment is however hijacked and sabotage by eco-terrorists, that might result into a black hole that can destroy the entire planet.

Could've been a great MacGyver-episode but unfortunately this 3 hour mini-serie was more sleep inducing then really exciting. I actually ended up watching because it starred Steven Weber and Treat Williams. Also Christina Cox was beautiful and reminded me of Laurie Holden but it really wasn't so great. Second half was more exciting than the first though. 2 stars.

Could this be a sign of things to come?

Nathan Fillion Seemingly Teases Uncharted News

Actor Nathan Fillion has seemingly teased some kind of Uncharted-related news just days before San Diego Comic-Con is due to kick off. The actor, who is known for his roles on TV and in video games, posted some cryptic teasers on Instagram this week.

The first image shows rapper Drake with the caption "Sic Parvis Magna," which means "greatness from small beginning," along with a date of 16 July. Drake, of course, is the name of Uncharted hero Nathan Drake, and the Latin line is inscribed on his ring in the game. A second image posted on Instagram shows an Uncharted-style map and a magnifying glass, again referencing 16 July. You can see both images embedded below.

Given the timing with Comic-Con coming up, it might be that Fillion is teasing news about the long-in-development Uncharted movie. Fans petitioned for Fillion to play Drake in the film, but Spider-Man actor Tom Holland will play the character in the movie directed by Stranger Things veteran Shawn Levy.

Perhaps Fillion will be hosting a panel about the Uncharted movie at Comic-Con. We'll know more soon, apparently. According to Variety, Fillion is not involved with the film.

Fillion is known for TV shows like Firefly, Castle, and Serenity. He also did voicework for the Halo franchise and more recently voiced Cayde-6 in Destiny.

The Uncharted movie is a prequel to the games. Inspiration was drawn from a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, which revealed the first encounter between Drake and his longtime buddy, Victor Sullivan.

An Uncharted movie has been in the works for years now, having been announced back in 2009. Actors whose names have been connected to leading roles over the years include Mark Wahlberg, Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Amy Adams, and Scarlett Johansson. Chris Pratt is among those to pass on the role of Drake.

As for the Uncharted game series, the last entry was 2017's Uncharted: Lost Legacy, which told the story of Chloe and Nadine, not Nathan Drake. Drake's story is reportedly wrapped up, and Naughty Dog won't make any more games in the series. However, future Uncharted games could be made by a different developer.

12 Angry Men (1957).

A jury of 12 men have to decide if an 18-year old boy is guilty on the murder of his father. While 11 are convinced he is guilty, juror number 8 (Henry Fonda) has his doubts. The court requiered an unanimous decision. The other jurors however their reasons to believe why he is guilty. Fonda expresses reasonable doubt and slowly has to persuade the others of the innocence of the boy to reach an unanimous decision.

This takes place on one afternoon during a hot summer day when everyone wants to go home.

One word: Classic. 5 stars.

This should've been the basis for MacGyver's episode Rush To Judgment in which MacGyver has to persuade the others of Danby's innocence in a stuffy hot juror's room before going after the real bad guys. I know opinions were divided on how MacGyver decided to take on the situation by sneaking out of a hotel to see the crime scene as a sequestered juror and finding the murder weapon and a new witness. If they had taken about 20-22 minutes to talk about Danby's innocence like in 12 Angry Men, MacGyver having to persuade the others, they could've used the second half of the episode to go after the bad guys with isms, fights, you name it. I think it would've made a more honourable episode then Mac crossing a line as he did in the episode, even though for once it resulted in something even he didn't expect. Just an idea.

Falling Down.

Bill Foster has been a former overworked employee at D-Fense. On a hot day in L.A. stuck in traffic, he abandons his car in the middle of the highway and goes home on foot to visit his daughter on her birthday with his ex-wife. However everywhere where he comes he ends up in confrontations with the locals. He ends up in an argument with a Korean storekeeper over the price of a soda for example or loses his nerve in a fastfood restaurant when he orders breakfast but doesn't get any. He walks through the town and either causes troubles or walks into it. This attracts the attention of officer Prendergast. A man working his last day as a cop, takes on the task of bringing Foster in if he can.

I think this is a very important movie, especially when it comes down on the social message. This movie warned us 25 years ago of the direction we're going in as a society. The movie will make you wonder: are we all going nuts? To be honest, I think we are. We're living in a society that goes faster and faster and is about more and more. We always need more, bigger and better. The family, the house, the nice car, we just have to try and keep up. If you can't you don't belong with everyone else. And I think Bill Foster couldn't keep up and therefore has been... 'falling down'. I think we all are falling down or else we wouldn't have been in the day and age of: burn-out, breakdowns and psychological problems.

This a must-see movie and if you do see it... keep an eye out for Kimberly Scott who plays a fellow police officer. 4 stars.
