Yay! Finally had time to type this.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a looong way down. Hovering above the mountains in helicopter, MacGyver and Andy were preparing to be lowered onto the mountain. Breaking his gaze away from the ground below, MacGyver checked his pack one last time. With a small smile that may have looked more like a grimace, he tried to give Andy the confidence that he didn't feel himself. He attached his harness to the rope that was going to lower him down and gave the pilots a thumbs up. As he felt the winch begin to lower him, hr closed his eyes and muttered, "I hate heights." After what seemed like an eternity, his feet gently thumped to a rest on the ground. After unclipping himself, he began to look around while he waited for Andy.

As the sun came up over the horizon, the view was breath-taking. The first rays of morning light cascaded down the the snow-capped mountains like a warm, glowing waterfall. Reaching a small mountain stream, the light danced across the water like fireflies on a warm summer night. This reverie was abruptly brought to an end when the sun moved behind an ominous-looking cloud and a gust of wind that makes one wish for a warm fire swept by MacGyver and Andy,

He turned and watched Andy hoist her pack onto her shoulder, then picked up his own.

"Where are we gonna look first?" she asked.

"We'll start here at the top and work our way downward." As they started on their way, a miserable drizzle began to fall.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several hours later, the spirit-dampening drizzle turned into icy snow flurries. Trudging thru shin-deep snow for hours with hardly and rest and yet having seen absolutely no sign of Jack was beginning to wear MacGyver and Andy down.

Hearing a soft thud behind him, MacGyver turned to see what it was. Andy had tripped over some object hidden beneath the snow and had fallen headlong into the snow. MacGyver walked back over to her and offered his hand to help her up.

"Just a bit longer, and and then we'll set up camp and make a fire,' MacGyver said

"Okay," was all she said, but MacGyver could see in her eyes and the way her face subtly relaxed that she was inwardly glad to be stopping soon.

About half an hour later, MacGyver finally decided to call it a day. Picking out a spot to camp, he and Andy puy down the load they'd carried all day.

"I'll get some sticks," offered Andy.

"Okay. While you do that I'll set up the tents and figure out where we put the food," he replied. Ten minutes later, thru their combined efforts, a fire was happily crackling in front of them and a dinner of granola bars and other portable food was under way. In silence, each lost in their own world, they sat entranced by the dancing flames of the fire. Andy broke the silence by saying, "We'll find him tomorrow. And if we don't we'll keep looking right?"

"Sure," MacGyver answered.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning when they both rolled out of bed, the snow was beginning to come down faster with bigger flakes- much bigger flakes. This was only slightly aggravating since the snow was already nearly knee-deep. "Grab a granola bar and let's pack up," MacGyver told Andy. "We'll eat while we search." In no time flat, the camp was stowed away in their packs. Each shouldered their own bag and the second day of the search had begun. As they walked, Andy glanced at MacGyver, "Hey, Mac," she joked, "give your eyebrows a rest or they'll be stuck like that soon. And..." she broke off with a sharp intake of breath.

"What is it?" he demanded. She grabbed his arm and pointed. "Over there. I thought I saw something. Maybe part of a plane" The two made their way over to the plane. The plane was here, but not in the greatest condition. Some pieces were scattered around the clearing, but at least it hadn't gone over the edge fifty feet away from where it was resting.

MacGyver and Andy cautiously made their way toward the downed plane. Pausing for a minute, MacGyver braced himself for the worst when he opened the door. Taking a breath and holding it, he firmly grasped the handle and pulled the door open. No one was inside and it was eerily quiet. "What?" MacGyver thought. This isn't right." He and Andy looked around the cockpit, but didn't see any clues to Jack and his mysterious passenger's whereabouts. This is odd," Andy thought.

"Hey, Mac, I'm going outside," she said aloud.

"I'll come with you," he answered.

Andy walked over to the edge to look at the view while she thought and MacGyver followed not far behind. They stood side by side for a moment, then MacGyver turned to go look once more at the cockpit. Once he was about twenty feet away, he heard a sharp, cracking sound and whirled around just in time to see the edge of the cliff where Andy was standing give way beneath her feet. As she fell, no scream came from her lips, but the look of sheer terror was enough. MacGyver sprinted back to the edge in a desperate attempt to get there in time and watched as she fell down, down, down...

Once she landed, he saw a puff of snow spray upward like a fountain. He stood there, numbed by the cold and the shock. Then he heard it. A gun was cocked behind him.

"Oh, MacGyver, how predictable. I just knew you would come. You always did have a soft spot for Jack Dalton, didn't you?" said a familiar voice.

No, can't be," he thought desperately. Turning around slowly with his hands raised, his eyes confirmed what his ears told him. The man at the other end of the gun was supposed to be dead. It was Murdoc.
