With both being in the pipeline if you could pick one which one would you want?

Yeah, same... we've been waiting for some time on the movie. It will kinda give me an idea on what direction they're planning on going with the TV show as well.

I voted for the tv show because I dunno a Movie could go well and we could get other cool things (video game movie etc) however with a show we could be getting all of that way more quickly.

Whichever was cast better and had a better plot! I don't really care which we get, as long as it is done well. Which I am skeptical about happening, to be honest! So without knowing more, its hard to say.

It's not easy to choose one really, in a way I guess this franchise works better on tv, but in another way I guess it has potential to work as a movie, I'm not sure.

And let's be honest we grew up with Ricky Dean as Mac, so in a movie or a new series it's going to be difficult to accept a new guy.

A difficult choice. Both carry pros and cons. It all comes down to what they are planning on doing. In all honesty, I doubt CBS will go through with both at the same time. Despite green lights and confirmations, they can STILL delay a project, It doesn't make sense to release both at the same time because if one doesn't do well, the popularity of the other will be knocked too.

I guess I don't really mind which one gets released. If its done right (Which hardly ever happens), it will work either way. But in terms of jumping on board the supportive express, I will consider boarding it when it arrives at the station.

WIle anything could happen as of right now I think the show is a bit more likely then the film (though I wouldn't mind both happening with all this talk of "shared universes" why can't the films be the exploits of an older more seasoned MacGyver (played by Jeremy Renner if RDA doesn't want to come back) and the show about a younger MacGyver...


As for why I think the show will happen they have a script they have a Director of the pilot the producers the writers and cbs drooling at wan's concept (something I am tempted to create a thread about but fear all responses will be "Wan is changing Cannon so I clearly will hate it") Casting is either already happening or will be happening soon with a cast announced within the coming weeks (based on Wan directing Aquuaman I believe this fall my guess is if he is directing the pilot it will be this spring/ summer that it is filmed which also means (again if I am right) a Fall start date for MacGyver.

the film has producers who are going through and talking to script writers now make no mistake Lionsgate needs a strong franchise and with Mission Impossible Bond and Bourne taking in a ton of box office dough I would guess Lionsgate could care less about CBS and they will try and make their MacGyver but we will see.
