I felt my idea of RDA playing a college professor in a Dr Zito type role was a better idea.

I can hear RDA saying "And here was I thinking, you were my brightest student, MacGyver".

I really like this idea. Harry was always portrayed as the person who taught MacGyver a lot of his moral (and I guess life) lessons.

RDA as Harry could be the "wise old soul" that keeps MacGyver grounded and dishes out advice and if done right it would play like old MacGyver pointing new MacGyver in the right direction. It would be an excellent nod back to the old show and I think it might go quite a long way to appeasing the "only RDA can play MacGyver" crowd.

WHAT IS ADR ?

Firstly it stands for (Audio) or Automatic Dialogue Replacement (ADR). It is a process of re-recording dialogue in the studio in synchronization with the picture. There are at least three roles in the ADR process: the actor, the recording engineer, and the sound editor.

The actor has to recreate his or her performance and perfectly match up his or her speech to that of the film. The recording engineer has to recreate acoustic spaces so that it doesn’t sound like an actor is in a recording studio. The sound editor has to pick and choose the best parts of multiple takes, and combine them into one composited clip, and keep everything synchronized to the picture. Not an easy task and highly skilled.

They use this tool should they need to add, remove, replace or modify any lines of dialogue within a scene. All shows go through this and is usually done during the last stages of the post production process.

Technology and specifically science have both come along way, since the 80s.

I feel the writers should be in their element coming up with new and inventive MacGyverisms for this new series, way beyond what could have been conceivable back in the 80s.

Remember there weren't too many people doing what MacGyver did, back in them days.

But the show lent itself to a whole new generation of survivalists.

Perhaps, as what happened in Star Wars, were fans of the show were asks to create BB-8, perhaps a select few fans would be brought on staff as technical advisors to assist in creating more adventurous macgyverisms.

Hands up who would love that job?

Went to see the new x-men film yesterday, which has Lucas Till playing Havoc...

Actually, I can see him as MacGyver

I've seen him in previous X-Men movies as Havoc... one thing that surprised me about him was how deep his voice was. I was like... well, holy crap! XD

I just saw the trailer for "Monster Trucks" with Lucas. That hair looks so much more like MacGyver to me! Maybe we'll get something similar for the Reboot 2.0 ?

Yep that shot looks totally MacGyver.

Even the clothes kinda fit. He still looks young for his age, but not that young as in the trailer CBS is trying to make disappear *lol*.

I hope they don't change from this look too drastically because they're afraid of "copying" it. The movie is being released in January 2017; so the pilot will be seen before this movie anyway.

I also hope for lots of promo for this movie. He didn't do much for X-Men and now that the Reboot is "official", he's finally able to talk about it in interviews...

Yeah, I have to agree, that photo of him in "Monster Trucks" is a BIG improvement. It definitely captures the MacGyver look a lot better.

Unfortunately that is a still of Lucas in another project. They don't usually like to mix styles of fashion between projects they work on. So i personally doubt they will make him look like that. We also have to remember that they mentioned this was a re-imagining. So they can take this anywhere they wish. It certainly is an improvement from his previous incarnation but as to whether they decide to use it? Who knows...

Lucas' style in that picture looks bit a same as MacGyver's in season 4, you know dark t-shirt and black leather jacket, that isn't leather in the picture but it still shines from the shoulders. Hair is good

I think the point, though, is that the photo shows the potential Lucas has for capturing the MacGyver image. They might not use this exact style for the show, but seeing him this way still gives me more hope than I had when I saw him looking how he did in the trailer.

And you're right, of course, that this is a reimagining, so they don't need to match Lucas' look with RDA's look. On the other hand, didn't they say recently that Lucas now looks a lot more like "his dad" (referring to RDA's Mac, presumably)? I still think the "dad" comment was a slip of the tongue, but who knows. Either way, they're clearly trying now to make Lucas look more like RDA's Mac.

No I think it looks the same as the pilot. Which again I am fine with the idea of Mac with short hair is odd to me he needs longer hair always has always will

Looks the same length as the pilot, but either combed back and made tidy or mayby the front has been trimmed/tidied up a bit, but the back it pretty long.

I think resembles RDA's hair during his long years actually, so if he had it like this int he show I personally would be ok with it.

I think what they really need to do is instead of copying RDA's hair just make it a modern representation of the characters hair.... actually they need to do that for the whole character, which is probably why there was such an uproar about the hair. It didn't represent the character.

I agree. Personally, a short cut is just fine with me. He doesn't have to look like a long haired hippie.

Seriously though, a neat-ish look will get less audiences jumping.

RDA has been the only person who can rock a mullet and get away with it. There were times it was just too long though... *cough*season5*cough* But, it was kept neat and RDA had the right face for it... so on him, it looked nice.

Lucas doesn't need to do that. He can pull off the character without the long hair. I would say have his hair styled to fit his face and not worry about it.

Either way, the hair is the least of my worries.

He actually had nothing to do with the character after the pilot episode. He wrote the pilot but beyond that he's had no input at all to the show.

If we were now living in the 80s - and you told me the bloke in the picture, would be playing the iconic role MacGyver. I would have said on yer bike. But he was brilliant... and it worked !

So let us give Lucas Till the same courtesy.

RDA was the original (and always will be), but Lucas has the chance to build on it and make the character more !

I've said that in the past myself... even though I'm still on the fence, I'm trying to be as supportive as possible. Mostly due to the rude comments coming from some of the RDA fanbase... some even claiming to be 'friends' of RDA. I find it hard to believe that RDA would consider that kind of behavior acceptable though...
