but this clip called "another type of hero" shows us how different this pilot will be from the first one.

From the trailer of the first pilot it was quite obvious that Mac character will be someone young and smart unknown guy who brought the attention to the World and DXS agency by escaping from the hands of terrorists using brain as a weapon. After he was recruiting he, as inexperienced but talented young agent, has to work with older and experienced agent Lincoln for whom everything has to be done "professionally". That could give us great moments between Mac and Lincoln, after all Mac is rather "master of improvisation" kind a guy.

Of course I'm not sure is this right but if it is so then I have to say I liked that concept.

After what we can see till now it seems that Mac is an agent in DXS for quite sometime, and now he himself is going to recruit. Probably highly dangerous hacker serving a sentence giving here last chance for atoning for sins and joining Phoenix Foundations (?) (such a cliche...)

Still, these are my guesses only and I don't want to say this is a bad idea but I preferred first one.

Same here. I mean, come on, it's in HUGE letters on the side of a building, right in front of you, and this person STILL spells it wrong? lol.


I'm seeing posters for this show everywhere now, mainly on the sides of buses and in train stations. I still don't like the poster, but it's kind of fun seeing MacGyver ads all over the place.

I don't like the poster either, but it is definitely fun to see so many people talking about it on social media and posting pictures.

This reboot reminds a lot of people that they used to love the show and many admit they just started rewatching it on Netflix which is great!

I don't mind people spelling it wrong - as long as they're not involved in the show. It's different when people out of the cast and crew spell it wrong! *grrrrrr*

Yes I have to say I'm pretty over the negativity around this as well.

What really gets me is the "I'm not even going to give this a chance because RDA isn't in it" crowd.

You will not please everyone. Thats obvious. But there might be something in it that will catch you as a fan. The trick is to put yourself in the seat when it airs and take it from there.

I also want to notice that We can see Mac here clearly with a fear and anxiety on his face in some moments. So obviously he will not be cocky all the time

It gives completely the wrong feel to the show for me.

This is the problem. They keep on falling back on hip hop to promote MacGyver. Use an action or adventurous score hich is more in line with the character and you will turn heads.

It seems that "TV Promo 360" has access to all leaked MacGyver promos, but somehow only some of them become official. To bad because this one IMHO is a good one.

It's okay. Still not really doing it for me. I guess the original really stood out when it was frst released. Nothing like it had been done before. This show seems like a retread of many others using the conventional method of marketing it with the usual edits and hip hop or rock music to emphasize it to a certain audience.

Problem is, not every audience is going to react to that in the way they think.

I know exactly what You feel denizen and believe me I feel the same. What's more I don't like all that concept producers choose to make this reboot since I've discovered it will be in CSI type of show, because I simply don't like that kind of shows. I can't say they are bad, the're just not for me.

The only thing I'm excited about this reboot is presence of MacGyver in it, and the only hope I still have is that producers will show him in decent way. And somehow I believe in Lenkov's team.

If anything will go wrong with this "New MacGyver" We still have the "old" one

I thought Lenkov and Eads both said that this would NOT be a procedural. I remember Lenkov saying something at ComicCon about how there are so many procedurals on tv these days, and MacGyver was a chance to do something different. And Eads said that working on MacGyver is very different from working on a procedural.

Yes You right, He did.

But as far I can remember he was talking about MacGyver as an unique character, not show in general. I believe in Lenkov's idea because He seems to feel how different kind of hero is MacGyver. For now though general concept looks very similar to others show like CSI series, and as I mentioned before I'm not really a fan shows like CSI or alike.

We have to wait and see to be sure what Lenkov did exactly.

I have to point out also that I don't mind "mac team" kind a thing. Actually I'm glad we would see Mac not as a genius who knows everything including how to hack computers, and so, but someone who also need a help in certain situations.

I just watched the two latest trailers that were posted in this thread. Ugh. The marketing dept for this show needs to be fired. The visuals are fine, but as other have said, the music is just completely wrong. They're trying too hard to be "urban," which is the completely wrong tone for a show like MacGyver. I know the original series occasionally took that tone in the later seasons ("Tough Boys," for example), but even then it felt out of place.
And I'm still getting too much of a smug ("Look how cool and awesome we are!") vibe from the whole thing. Now I'm just hoping that the trailers don't accurately capture the tone of the show.

Total cockiness it wasn't until the loss of Lisa in the third season and the invention of Murdoc a character who knew Mac well better then any of us other villains that Macgyver started to change.

That's a valid point. I also remember some cockiness in the Hellfire episode. He was juggling, and the woman said something like "You're really good at that," and his response was something like, "I'm really good at many ,many things." If we saw this new Mac saying that, we'd be complaining that it's totally out of character, but since this show seems to be aiming to capture the feel of Season One from the original series, it's actually not out of character.

Really, my main complaint at the moment is the music in the trailers. I sincerely hope it doesn't reflect the sort of music we're going to hear in the series.

MacGyver on Big Brother... didn't know that's still a thing in the US. I think it's been years since they did that in Germany (although they tried to revive it with "Celebrity Big Brother")...

I'll be watching the show for MacGyver himself rather than the mangled "reimagined" supporting characters who have absolutely zero resemblance to the originals.
