I actually like it.... I feel weird saying it but I do like it

Hm... don't know what to think yet. Looks a bit "cheap" to me; but I'm not that much into modern opening title sequences anyway.

I like that they kept the focus on MacGyver's hands instead of the character's faces.

There's a lot of excitement in this opening, which should draw a lot of viewers. It's so different from the original, but there are so many hints of it in the new opening, like the brown leather jacket. We'll see in a few days, if I'm lucky enough to be able to view it

The new theme isn't a bad theme at all, but it does sound like they spliced it with the original at the last second. The transition to the new theme doesn't sound right musically...

If they had someone actually compose the original in with the new, it would sound better. They would need to have it completely re-orchestrated, but I doubt they'll do it... so I'll sit in my corner and fume. Mom is currently rolling in her grave though... she liked to use the MacGyver theme on the piano to wake me up in the morning... =P

Now that's cool; I just had an ordinary alarm clock...

AND I believe this is actually my 1000th post; so I'm not going to post anything for a week so my "posted-posts-counter" doesn't change... well no. You can't shut me up now just days before the premiere (even if I might not be able to watch it in little Switzerland)... ;-)

I'm a bit confused about the new title font... it changed, right? And the older one looked so much better...

Not only that, it looks like they downloaded a generic knockoff of the theme from Youtube and used that. They couldn't even get one of the official recordings of the Randy Edelman theme.

That is... really, really sad... =P

I'll be honest, I've seen fan intros better than that. Come on kids... get your act together.

Supernatural has fun with their intros... They constantly change it, and they make fun of themselves, movies and other TV shows...

Or if CBS really want to bring in some nostalgia, they can learn a lesson from Stranger Things.

The intro and the theme are fine... but if they're gonna incorporate the original theme, at least do a more professional job of it.

As I said in the other thread, I'm kind of disappointed with this.
I actually really liked the new music they recorded, but the way they edited it down and mashed it up with original theme just feels like a bit of hack job. I'm kind of hoping that what we're seeing in this preview is a condensed version, and that the real version will feel more complete, but I know that's not likely at all.

What they should do is play more of the original theme's prelude but maybe edit it like the season 3 truncated version, then EXPLOSION and the new theme starts. Overall, it would probably end up being a little longer, but not too much.

That's what I've been trying to peg with the new series....it reminded me of another show. It's the current James Bond. I'm sure I'm late coming to this conclusion. I really think there's as much of a difference between the new series and the Roger Moore/Sean Connery Bonds. I like what I'm seeing as long as I completely separate it from the original. There are so many hints of the old show...chasing the airplane on foot (The Odd Triple), etc. Glad to see he's carrying a Climber/Hiker. The show and the intro sure seem full of action in a 2016 way and it just might take off with a whole new generation. The more I watch Dash's clips of the show, the more intrigued I am, and I hope I'm able to view the season opener, but we'll see. Sorry to ramble on, but watching these clips really jogged my mind.

Yeah, it doesn't really feel like MacGyver yet. For now, I'll see it as a Action-Show with a MacGyver-like character in it. But it looks like it could be fun and while I'm not happy about everything it's far better then I initially feared.

Also, it's nice to see that there are so many fans of the old show out there on social media. I hope that instead of complaining about the reboot in general, they will start to speak nicely about the old show instead and inspire others to watch it.

Guess they don't think a modern TV show needs that...

And that's exactly the reason why I don't like that many modern TV shows. After a while, you've had enough of these pretty, perfectly styled people being sexy and funny *sigh*
