I would look forward to this episode if it wasn't co-written by Nancy Kiu who wrote the characters Jack and Mac horribly OUT of character in my opinion her last go round. I was hoping she would never write another episode. But maybe this will be different.
I will say - I started watching this show because I was a fan of Isabel and saw she was going to be on. From what I can tell, I think she may be done filming, at least temporarily. If that’s the case - I hope it’s because that was the plan for Cage from the beginning and not because of the fan response. From what I’ve seen, people have been absolutely vile to her from the first episode. It’s been horrible.
I totally agree that not only was the way the character not introduced properly, but some of the fans did not handle their dislike well. I think there were ways to address their opinion on social media without trying to attack the actor-who seems like a really nice person. I also know this has happened in other fandoms. Like someone else said I too think I would have liked Cage's character better if she'd been introduced as a recurring and then gradually brought onto the team. The writers made her such a Mary Sue character in the beginning. I think if they had paired her with Riley more like they have done in the past two eps, people would have warmed to her more easily.

Nancy Kiu has writing credits on 21 episodes (executive story editor) so far, so I doubt she's going anywhere.
She's written 3 episodes so far. I didn't like 1x05 (Toothpick) and 2x02 (Muscle Car + Paper Clips) that much, but 1x11 (Scissors) wasn't so bad.

MacGyver Casts Garrett Morris — What Voodoo Will He Do in New Orleans? By Matt Webb Mitovich / November 28 2017, 11:05 AM PST
Garrett Morris will know everything about New Orleans — and also a bit about one of MacGyver‘s team members — when he visits the CBS drama this season.
TVLine has learned exclusively that the SNL vet and 2 Broke Girls alum will guest-star in an early 2018 episode as the proprietor of “Willy’s House of Voodoo,” a small, chintzy tourist-trap shop in New Orleans. Keeping his eyes peeled and his ear to the ground, Willy knows everything that’s going on with everyone in New Orleans. What’s more, he and Jack (played George Eads) share a bit of a “contentious history.”
Back from its Thanksgiving break, MacGyver resumes Season 2 this Friday at 8/7c with the episode “CD-ROM + Hoagie Foil,” in which Mac and the team track Indonesian mercenaries who are transporting stolen nerve gas, Jack confronts Elwood (guest star Billy Baldwin) about Riley, and Bozer is pushed to his limit in spy school.

The MacGyver Cast Watches a Legend Work His Magic — 2018 FIRST LOOK
Saturday Night Live vet Garrett Morris is working his magic on the MacGyver cast in this exclusive first look from a 2018 episode of the CBS drama.
As reported by TVLine, Morris (whose previous TV role was on CBS’ 2 Broke Girls) is guest-starring in the new year as the proprietor of “Willy’s House of Voodoo,” a small, chintzy tourist trap in New Orleans. Attuned to everything going on with everyone in the Big Easy, Willy also shares a “contentious history” with Jack (played by George Eads).
Previewing Morris’ turn as a “huckster,” MacGyver showrunner Peter M. Lenkov tells TVLine, “He’s a legend in my humble opinion, an OG SNL cast member who had a huge impact on my childhood viewing. It was a total honor to have him on the show, and a major coup for us.”
Lenkov, though, was perhaps not Morris’ biggest fan. “I know the folks down in Atlanta [where the series films] were all clamoring to get pics” with the special guest, says the EP. “And those not in scenes with him wanted to be written in!”

Are you basing Cage still being there on credits or did I miss some pics? I was so hoping they had written her out but I am beginning to think that is a pipe dream. So glad to see this episode is by Lenkov and O'Neill though. Some of my favorites are theirs. As long as Nancy Kiu doesn't write the story, I'm usually happy. I'm convinced the woman has something against Mac and Jack. 🙄

I haven't seen Isabel Lucas on any of the BtS pictures for Episode 2x12 and she left for Australia when they were filming Episode 2x13, so I assumed she might be already "gone" (at least temporarily) by the Midseason Finale (especially when realizing that Murdoc is in Episode 2x11, as well).
I guess we'll know what happens to her character in January.

Q: You played Jack Dalton on the original “MacGyver,” but since George Eads now plays him. you have a new character in the reboot’s Dec. 15 episode. What’s he like?
A: He’s a pretty good, pretty honest procedural cop, and thought the best thing I could do was to build a real world that the “MacGyver” world could bump into. I thought, “Let’s make this as real as any real cop show I’ve ever done.”
There’s a very good scene where my character believes MacGyver (played by Lucas Till) is a serial bomber, and I’m trying to get him to spill the beans. He won’t tell me who he is, and he can’t, because he works for the double-secret-probation Phoenix Foundation. I just pound away (with the interrogation), but I’m genuinely concerned for this highly intelligent kid who has an abnormal obsession with explosives.
Q: How did you become involved in “MacGyver” originally?
A: I wasn’t doing any TV to speak of, and when they called me to do it, I said, ‘I don’t think so.” But Charlie Correll – who was the director of photography on “National Lampoon’s Animal House” (in which McGill played musical-throat-playing motorcyclist D-Day) – was directing it, and he called and said, ‘”What are you doing? Get on a plane and get out here! It doesn’t matter; you die at the end of the episode, so you don’t have to worry about making a commitment.”
That was interesting, so I did it. And then I went back to my theater and movie life, and my agent called and said, ‘”They’d like you to do another ‘MacGyver.’” I said, “What part?” And he said, “Oh, same part.” And I said, “But that character died.” Well, he didn’t die on camera; he heroically saved MacGyver by flying his airplane over the horizon, and then there was one of those poor-man’s (largely unseen) explosions. And my agent said, “If Bobby Ewing can come back in the shower … .”

Ashley Tisdale guest stars as Allie, a CIA operative, Mac’s former fling and his biggest competitor in the Challenge.

uhm... I don't really see the point of this... that's as generic as it gets and not really MacGyver-related?
I guess some people who like collecting model cars might enjoy it, but I never really got into that personally. I prefer figures of the actual characters (hint hint, CBS).
