Ok, I have to say that the one thing I miss so much from the original series is ...AVIATOR GLASSES!

It seems that everyone wear them EXCEPT MacGyver. But there are so iconic for Mac like bomber jacket and SAK.

I wear one pair of it till today.

More evidence that they are entirely focused on the gimmick aspect of the show rather than the brains over brawn and anti-violence undertones of the original.

I remember Lenkov saying in an interview that he thought we needed a show on TV which taught the think first shoot later aspects to a new generation which is why he was keen to head the reboot... Yet so far it's been shoot first think second.

To be honest I had high hopes once I started seeing clips of the work Lenkov was doing, but having just finished watching all 3 episodes again... I'm just really disappointed.... this new show doesn't come close to even grasping what MacGyver is about.

The original told a story first and the MacGyverisms etc just kind of happened along the way as part of the the story. This show seems to somehow be MacGyverism centered with nearly all other aspects forgotten about - including giving the audience time to comprehend what's happening on the screen.

To be really blunt I think the show is badly edited compared to other shows on TV. There's no cohesiveness to it. It seems to be very jolty and stilted which is a real shame because the cast and crew are trying really hard. The work they're doing is great... the way that work is being presented in the end product is badly letting them down though.

As someone said in another topic, if it didn't have the name MacGyver on it and I didn't run this site, I wouldn't still be watching it.

MacGyverisms are too fast, too many guns, weak music, and too silly/light-hearted (e.g. the money manager from the 3rd episode made me cringe).

And the character development is too forced and mechanical, like they're saying, "In episode 2 we need to explore Jack's past and have him tear up," and "In episode 3 let's start talking about MacGyver's father." I liked the way the original did it where pieces of his character were slowly revealed and sprinkled throughout.

I feel exactly the same. I have not been feeling it since the beginning. The charm of the original is just not there.

Hate the team thing.

Hate the imbalance of centralizing the MacGyver character as the main topic but the show focuses on the other characters. So why call it MacGyver? Just call it team Phoenix.

When you reboot a show and completely change all the characters to the point that they are recognizable in name only, that's not honoring the original, it's using it.

These guys are not honoring anything. They are using the success of the original to try and pander this rubbish to the fans. And it is rubbish. It's not even enjoyable to watch just as a show. It's hard to follow, hard to watch, they've just completely cocked the whole thing up.

I don't like being this harsh because I know the crew are working hard, as has been pointed out before, and to be honest it's not their work that sucks. It's the team involved with the final production, the ones who decide how the final product looks. They need to be fired because they're producing a result.

I don't know how Lenkov can give it his approval. When you compare Hawaii-Five-O to this the two shows are worlds apart.

I think we can go on and on about what the show's done wrong... I'm trying to focus on what the show's done right... sadly, its done more wrong than right... and that is what's killing it for me. HOWEVER, my sister is coming over tomorrow, and we're gonna watch the pilot together to get her opinion.

I think it is a personality thing. Lucas is "okay", but doesn't have the right delivery. RDA was much more personable and it sounded like he was talking to you, as if you were an old friend. Lucas just sounds like he's talking at you.

When you deal with as many people as I have, you can tell the difference... a bit hard to explain though.

I really like the idea of naming the episodes after SAK Tools - but so far I have no clue where the "Metal Saw" in Episode 2 was (maybe a deleted scene for the Opening Gambit; MacGyvering together that bullet-proof-car?) or the "Awl" in Episode 3.

It feels like they brainstormed titles back when they started writing scripts and handed out titles for everyone, but due to the pressure of delivering really fast and several rewrites and edits they somehow lost the tool along the way...

But the titles are never shown anyway; so I guess they don't really matter...
