I think that's alright. Xena don't rely much on CGI-effects as Hercules did. After all it is about 'ancient gods, warlords and kings.'
Now I have just seen the Xena/Hercules crossover episode: Prometheus. Which was kinda of fun to see them together. I think it wouldn't have hurt to have them crossover a little more. Xena has at least five episodes as Xena in Hercules, while Hercules only shows up twice in Xena just as Iolaus. That episode did have a CGI bird though and Hera is always nice to see to, even though it's just a pair of eyes in the sky. She sees all.

Decided to watch a couple of Simpsons episodes and even did an onscreen comparison to see how it has evolved. I actually put in an episode from Season 2 way back from 1990 and compared it to a Season 19 episode from 2008 and was quite surprised at how little it has changed. In a good way, i mean. The images still look animated in an old fashioned way but are much brighter and clearer. The movement is MUCH smoother (No doubt due to it being done on computer) and even the voices are the same. Already Simpsons is on Season 28 and still going strong. Truly incredible.
Here is my salute to the Simpsons!
"The bag's not for what I take, Colson - it's for what I find along the way."
I think I sort of grew out of The Simpsons actually. I have the first season on dvd and a Halloween Special dvd and a couple of comics, but it really don't say much to me anymore. I follow them on Facebook still. Amazing though they got 28 seasons. I still hope they make it to 30.
Meanwhile I'm 30 episodes far with Xena. Looks like I've seen 22 episodes in the past week and a half. And haven't seen a real bad one yet. The episodes with Callisto were amongst the best. She was like the Murdoc from that show. Defeated but always comes back for more.

Never followed them much after Xena but I actually should. Interesting to know, Callisto as yoga instructor... Funny how the most evil characters are like the nicest persons in real life. She has been studying yoga for 16 years and has been teaching for 13.
Last night I saw the episode Intimate Stranger, in which Xena and Callisto switch roles. Xena becomes Callisto and Callisto becomes Xena and therefore Lucy Lawless plays a villainous role and Hudson Leick becomes Xena and plays the hero. A nice switch. They even taken over each others battle cries: Hudson Leick actually does her version of: "lalalalalalala" while Lucy Lawless screeches like Hudson. Imagine Murdoc becomes MacGyver and MacGyver becomes Murdoc. That episode in my opinion is one of the most solid episodes of that season and is very action driven. I remember that Callisto was supposed to have a trilogy of episodes, but for some reason it never happened. Yet Callisto shows up in more episodes and I think she even fills in for Lucy Lawless after she broke her hip on a failed stunt in the Jay Leno show. But I think they switched a couple of episodes to cover up for Lawless' absence. Anyway, Intimate Stranger is good episode and written by actually my favorite writer (sorry RJ Stewart) Steven L. Sears. To me he's like the John Sheppard of the Xena series. Writing mostly the more mature and serious episodes with exception of one comedy episode. RJ Stewart makes a very close second. He wrote the most episodes with a total of 24 with serious and lighter episodes but also marks a few milestones in the show.

And finished season 2 of Xena and started on 3. Couple of good ones in the last half of season 2. Xena's 2nd death experience in the episode Destiny also starring a young Karl Urban, who also showed up in the first season alongside David Ackroyd (Trumbo). Urban also shows up as Cupid near the end of the season. Also season 2 of Xena has an episode called Blind Faith, in which Xena ends up blind after she got sprayed by sumac by accident during a fight. One of the better episodes but still with a touch of comedy in.
But I think the best episode of that season was The Price. Another Steven L. Sears written episode and I think one of the darkest of that season. Xena and Gabrielle find a dying soldier who fought with the Horde, suddenly surrounded Xena and Gabrielle escape on a kano down the river, finding more dying soldiers crucified and are being watched by the Horde. They find a nearly defeated army in an desolate outpost and Xena quickly takes command. Triggered by the barbaric fighting method of the Horde Xena goes into surviving mode becoming a fierce and fearless leader who will do whatever it takes to take out the Horde, even if it means dying herself and dragging Gabrielle with her. This behaviour scares Gabrielle so much who tries to stop Xena of becoming the monster she once was but nearly fails in doing so.
This is actually one of the first episodes that astonished me in how quickly Xena can reset herself and become the Warrior Princess. In Destiny she was this foolish pirate who turns into a fearless, merciless warrior later in life. The Price shows the progress she made and how easy it is to forget that while dear Gabrielle has to watch that. Definitely one of the best.

Interestingly i started playing the Xena game on Saturday for the PS1 and its really good. If you are a fan, i recommend checking it out. They also made it for the PS2 and both are good fun. Its like Tomb Raider except you play Xena.

I do have that game and great for fans but if you're not familiar with it, you might not like it.

Xena was always a fun show. Campy, but fun. But, I like campy. XD
I started watching the reboot of Lost in Space on Netflix over the weekend. It's not bad. It got a Mass Effect vibe to it. In fact, Robot looks a LOT like the Geth from Mass Effect even. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm hoping there will be a second season.
As a recommendation, I've been watching a show called Love. It's supposed to be a romantic comedy that is a "down to earth" take on modern relationships. It IS very adult, so I wouldn't watch it around kids. It has a lot of swearing and sex scenes. Also, some of the scenarios that cause havoc in the relationship of lead couple can be a bit ridiculous. Other than that, it's funny and relatable. I'm actually almost done with this series as it's only three seasons and hasn't been renewed.
I also started an Anime called Violet Evergarden. Animation is spot on, but I haven't gotten far enough in to form a opinion yet.

Been revisiting the Adventures in Rainbow Country series. Watched this as a kid and loved it for it's ourdoorsy-ness and adventure. Nowadays, I see a lot of similarities with MacGyver and probably was a prerequisite for getting hooked on it ... i.e. accommodations, jeeps, good cinematography with apt score, clean living people with morals and integrity up tp snuff, love the opening music (maybe better than MacGyver) too.

It's going to be serial time over here. I'm nearly halfway Xena now but my recorders hard drive is getting full. I need to catch up on Two and a Half Men (post-Charlie era), Under The Dome season 2 and Game Of Thrones season 7.

And made it into season 4 of Xena. Season 3 has some of the series best episodes like The Deliverer, The Debt, Maternal Instinct and Sacrifice. With The Deliverer the story arc that is known amongst fans as The Rift begins but also the Dahak/Hope story arc. Xena and Gabrielle's relationship is being put to the test. They both lied about things they did and Gabrielle betrays Xena in China. Interesting to know is that the two-parter The Debt was initially meant as a feature film. But the studio refused to back it up, so it became a two-parter instead.
When I saw this for the first time, it was also a first to me to see a show handle a major storyline through the season varied with a couple of stand alone episodes like their comedies and serious ones like One Against and Army. Unfortunately some episodes on Dahak and Hope also takes place in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Hercules has a two-parter taking place between Xena's episode Maternal Instinct and Bitter Suite. I think there are about 17 episodes in total on Dahak and Hope, 7 of which takes place in Hercules and where in Xena of course guest stars. Not to mention other episodes that concerns The Rift. Pity again, Hercules was never fully released because in Sacrifice Callisto and Ares talks about events happening in Hercules. This is after all a shared universe. Sacrifice is the third season's finale (another two-parter), to me as a kid it was again unseen. The cliffhanger they pull off was like: wow, they would never do or even allow this on MacGyver. It's the only season finale that involves all five important characters: Xena, Gabrielle, Joxer, Ares and Callisto. And they had to change the ending into what it is now as part of the ending had leaked online.
Season 4 begins where 3 has left off and delves deeper into Xena's past in her warlord days and her meeting a new nemesis named Alti, a shamaness who can see the future and use dark forces and psychology on her victims. From here on out the series also grows darker and more serious in matters, which I only cheer on and actually with some research you can find the necessary episodes that can form one major storyline over the course of the show as the Rift and the Dahak/Hope evolves into a possible fate for both Xena and Gabrielle, Xena's pregnancy and the Twilight of the Gods and Xena's ultimate demise. Or simply called the key episodes. God, I love this show.

I'm currently in the last season of Grounded For Life. The show ran out of steam about halfway the fourth season if not longer. Though it was never really funny at all, it's been going downhill for quite a while now. Some moments are funny but it's not like I'm rofl'ing. Guess I'll finish it with the few episodes that are still going to be aired. Just a shame that Richard Riehle became a recurring character after season 2, then again his filmography is massive. Also the Finnerty's youngest son Henry has disappeared after season 4, this due to the kid actor moved away from Hollywood. But this has become something to see, if nothing else is on.

Started watching both The Rain & Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency on Netflix. The Rain is a Danish show about a virus that is carried in the rain and slowly starts to affect anyone caught in it. Protected from the harmful phenomenon, 2 siblings safely hiding in a bunker for 6 years emerge to discover that civilization is gone except for a group of survivors they join to find hope. This is quite an effective show and keeps you in to see what happens next.
Then off to Dirk Gently based on the Douglas Adams book. Bellhop Todd Brotzman lives a simple life with not much going for him until one day is sent up to the penthouse of the hotel he works at only to discover a gruesome murder. Even though he has nothing to do with the events, he seemingly becomes the centre of attention when a very strane detective known as Dirk Gently puts an enormous interest on him. Then things get even stranger. Its a Douglas Ada

Just heard that Clayne Crawford is fired from the Lethal Weapon tv-series after a couple of incidents on the set involving safety matters. One of which he felt that it wasn't safe and clinched with the director another one was when Damon Wayans get injured on an episode Crawford was directing himself. Crawford has said he regretted the incidents and wishes everyone well. The show will however get a third season and Seann William Scott will be brought in to play Riggs' brother.

I actually attempted to watch The Rain and Dark, I didn't like either one. Not that they were bad, just had a hard time following them. I did like Residue though... sadly, it's only three episodes, with no information on if it's going to continue or not.
It does star Iwan Rheon and Natalia Tena, who played Ramsay Bolton and Osha from Game of Thrones. It's kinda odd to see them as a couple in Residue. XD
I'm currently watching One Punch Man and Attack on Titan. I have a lot of Anime to catch up on. lol
Season finale of Supernatural was... unexpected. Dang it... that show.

I have started watching Cobra Kai. For those of you that don't know what it is, it is the official continuation of the original Karate Kid.
Set almost 30 years after the original's events the story now focuses on Johnny Lawrence seeking redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai dojo to help out a kid who is bullied at school however this decision reignites his rivalry with a now successful Daniel LaRusso.
If you ever enjoyed the Karate Kid, this is a must see!

I've been binging Penny Dreadful the past week or so.
It's rather good. Took me until today to figure out that Ethan Chandler is portrayed by Josh Hartnett. I completely forgot he even existed! I remember he was big a while back and then just disappeared from acting.
Needless to say, I enjoy the show. Definitely for mature audiences though. It's pretty graphic in both sex and violence. Other than that, it's very well acted and very interesting.
Though, I'm pretty sure the Winchesters would have the entire issue fixed within an episode. They just need the Colt and witch killing bullets. Maybe a machete. lol

Halo is finally coming to TV. Showtime has announced a series pickup for a live-action adaptation of the epic Xbox game franchise (under the working title of "Halo"), with Kyle Killen (Awake) serving as executive producer, writer, and showrunner. Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt will helm multiple episodes and also executive produce.
The scripted drama will feature 10 hour-long episodes in its first season, and is expected to begin production in early 2019. According to Showtime, the adaptation of Halo "will take place in the universe that first came to be in 2001, dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. Halo will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future."

I wish I was a bigger Halo fan. But I may check it out simply because it wasn't the story I had a problem with. I just didn't enjoy playing the game. lol
I started watching Sword Art Online. Within the first episode, I got a massive Final Fantasy XIV vibe from it. I haven't gotten far in it, but it's pretty good. It's interesting. It's like if you were in a VR Final Fantasy game and can't get out unless you beat the game. Also if you die in the game, or someone attempts to remove you from the gear in real life, you die.
I was like... that's a bit extreme. XD
