I wish more men would use MacGyver if they needed a fictional role model. MacG.gif stands for the fact it's okay for men and boys to like stereotypically masculine things like adventures and sport and science, but they don't have to be sexist or materialistic or unnecessarily violent and all the nasty part of the stereotype.

And that it's okay for women and girls to like adventures and sport and science.

Not trying to get too political, but in this era of President-Elect Trump, we need heroes like macsak.gif more than ever.

I must say that I'm a bit taken back to realize that International Men's Day shares the same calendar date with World Toilet Day. hmm.bmp unsure.gif Trump wasn't my first choice to be sure, but I really dislike the after-the-fact belly aching and ranting that's going on and fanned by the media/celebrities. For gawdsakes shut up about and start warrioring up and planning strategies in so that these kinds of campaigns do not become the norm.

I'm just going to rant a bit longer. I rant a lot. I'll try to keep it down, but I don't think it's going to go away.

I did my best to argue on-line with Trump supporters before the election, but clearly that did not work. I don't think anything anyone said about Trump made any impact on people who voted for him. Stuff which would normally have sunk a candidate just bounced off him. I truly don't know what anyone could do to prevent someone like him being elected again.

The fact Hillary got more votes than Trump makes the whole thing a farce. I signed a petition saying that the electoral college system should be replaced. Since I'm in the UK, my signature probably didn't count for much.

The coincidence about World Toilet Day is slightly unfortunate. However, it further underlines why MacG.gif is a better role model. If he were real, he would be campaigning for everyone in the world to have access to clean water and toilets, etc, even if he had to dig some latrines and install pipes himself.

Trump, however, probably thinks World Toilet Day is a day for celebrating gold-plated toilets.

In short, let us unite over our admiration of macsak.gif ... best fictional male role model ever.

I really thing Rep. 'Donald Duck' would have won with the same campaign tactics.

In many respects, it's about the have nots vs the haves, and the numbers are growing rapidly for the former (and he knew/did well to fan their flames). My cousin ended up voting for Trump, couldn't stand him but thought there would be a better chance for long term change rather than stick with the status quo.

Having said that, I think Trump as a role model for the younger generation is as dubious and frightening as it can get and, yes, about as anti a MacGyver personae as one could go. As for his political endeavors, only time will tell.

On the plus side, I did like some of his thoughts about immigration and in tightening, rather loosening (any more) the screening process.

Oh, and one other thing - I really disliked (some of) the media jumping in and trying to influence the outcome of this election. I don't give a jot what 'they' think -their duty is to report the news and let we the viewer decide what is right, wrong, good or bad. More & more these days the news people are clearly plotting in their stories. In certain respects and in this (anarchist) day and age, I believe this contributed somewhat to HRC's campaign demise.

Not that this is anything to do with the topic but in all honesty i certainly think Trump was a bad choice too for the Americans. HOWEVER, that being said, what's done is done. Look on the positive side of things. Trump builds. He creates jobs, jobs make money and that is good for the US. He also tends to keep his promises and that can also be good for the US economy.

I am not an American so it may seem like im putting my nose where it doesn't belong but perhaps we have to be patient and give the Trump administration a chance.

I read somewhere that someone had asked RDA if he considered President-Elect Trump to be a hero.

Apparently, not so much.

I appreciate that it's problematic to compare real people to fictional people, but ... if you stranded them both in a city with no contacts and no money, I think Mac would thrive and Trump would ... not. Mac would probably start making some money by juggling and maybe busking if he could persuade a busker to lend him their guitar for a while. He'd do nice stuff for people and repair broken stuff for them so they would give him food and money and shelter and he would make resources stretch a very long way.

Trump would probably get arrested for yelling obscenities or trying to grab women.
