A list of all scenes shown in the opening credits and the episodes they are from.

 


 

The Gauntlet
As MacGyver arrives in the south American town, he sees a girl being harassed by military officers. He interrupts them and pulls out his passport with a $20 bill inside it to keep them happy.
Pilot (opening gambit)
MacGyver rigs up a semi-automatic rifle on a tree branch as a distraction.
Thief of Budapest
MacGyver undoes the steering wheel of the prison tractor in preparation for his escape.

MacGyver drags a roll of razor wire along with his foot as he prepares his escape plan from the Budapest prison compound.

MacGyver unrolls a winch coil as he sets up his escape plan to get out of the locked-down town he’s trapped in.

MacGyver pulls out the air vent control panel in the “gas chamber” as he tries to by pass the malfunctioning power switch.

MacGyver uses a mirror removed from his binoculars to reflect a laser beam back on itself in order to disable the laser security system in the elevator shaft so he can get to the lower levels of the building.

MacGyver ties an old belt through the steering wheel of a jeep and around the gear stick to help hold the steering wheel straight so the jeep will travel a straight path down the hillside towards the waiting army.

MacGyver pushes the end of a cameras flash cable into a blob of plastic explosive and sets the flash for 30 seconds.

MacGyver takes a flair gun out of the crashed fighter plane and puts it in his satchel for later use.

This particular shot isn’t used in the episode. It is from the scene where MacGyver unlocks the window to gain access to the room containing the map. The shoot we see in the episode is from inside the room.

MacGyver jiggles the gear stick of the prison tractor to make sure it’s out of gear.

MacGyver uses 2 half-dollar coins to arc weld a broken piston shaft.

MacGyver pulls the ripcord of an inflatable life-jacket which he has set up as the first stage to a chain reaction of events to create a diversion.

The timer of a bomb in an underground lab counts down to its detonation as Doctors Steubens and Burke play their game of chess.

This scene was filmed specifically for the opening credits during the episode ‘Last Stand’.

MacGyver makes sure all is clear on the below street before climbing down into the room housing the map he’s after.

MacGyver eats an ice cream as he wanders around Budapest looking for his contact agent. This particular shot is when he passes to watch someone repairing a traffic light.

MacGyver looks over at Kate Connelly in amusement as she protests about eating the lizard he has just caught and is preparing to cook.

MacGyver duels with an Arabian horse thief while trying to steal the horseback.

  1. The ice cream shot from the intro isn’t the same as in Thief of Budapest. In the intro you see the traffic light going from green to red. This shot is not in the actual episode. It’s probably another take from the same scene though.

    Also, the helicopter shooting (The Golden Triangle) in the intro is also a bit different than in the actual episode. In the intro the shots go to the bottom edge of the screen, while in the episode the video is transitioned away before the helicopter bullets reach the screen edge.

    They’re just very tiny differences, but I thought I’d mention it as this page seems to be all about the details 🙂
