The game was released exclusively in Target stores throughout the US in July 2018 with little to no promotion at all. Word started spreading about the game when people started seeing it on shelves and posting about it on social media. The game later became available on Amazon.com
The note on the back is interesting, if not a little disappointing, saying it can only be played once due to the requirement of having to destroy certain playing pieces as part of the game however as you’ll see in the below reviews this isn’t strictly true if you use a little MacGyvering.
Although it’s a board game, there is a requirement to have internet access to receive instructions on each puzzle as well as confirmation that your solution is correct. In addition to this, the website also has timer options to make the missions harder if so desired.
The game has received mixed reviews with many experienced players of escape room games complaining the challenges were too easy, however bearing in mind that this is initially aimed at MacGyver fans we suspect this was done intentionally to keep the game enjoyable for as many people as possible.
