A new video showing Dana Elcar doing a Public Service Announcement for Glaucoma week has been released on Youtube by Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA).
The PSA video was found on a tape from Mississauga (Toronto) based marketing firm, Ad-Venture Sight and Sound, and appears to have been filmed sometime after MacGyver had finished.
In the PSA Dana talks about how he has lived with Glaucoma for more than 30 years and that it has stolen his sight. He then urges everyone to have annual eye exams as a simple way of “fighting back” against the disease.
The video itself is filmed on an interesting, but unknown set bathed in warm light with lots of wooden carved panels and features giving it an oriental look and feel. The set doesn’t appear to relate to any work Dana did either on or after MacGyver though so we’re currently at a loss as to what the set is from.
The set looks influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright’s California houses.
