Some season 1 episodes started with a short mini-adventure which was usually unrelated to the main story. Packed full of MacGyverisms, these mini-adventures became known as opening gambits and were used to emphasize MacGyver’s extraordinary talent for improvisation and how he used it to quietly and quickly get his missions completed.
Along with highlighting MacGyver’s skills these gambits also gave us some interesting background and insights into MacGyver’s childhood, life, and mindset.
Every fan has their favorite opening gambit. Vote for yours below and feel free to tell us why in the comments section.

I wish they had more opening gambits and never went away from the narration.
