MACGYVERISMS

  • Used plastic trash bags and a stick as a delayed starter

TRIVIA

  • Mary Beth Barber is really deaf. MacGyver was the first of 2 acting roles she ever had. Her only other acting credit is 1 episode in a show called ‘Throb’.
  • The 3 men Crane talks to at the start of the episode are the same three men Quayle gets his orders from a the start of the ‘Deathlock’ episode in season 1.
There is speculation that these 3 men are either the forerunners of what will later become HIT, or are, in fact, HIT.
  • Crane’s cabin is the same one used in ‘Prisoner of Conscience’.
  • The “Moloch” missile used is actually a Chaparral surface-to-air missile.
  • Moloch was originally the name of one of the pagan gods of ancient Israel, to which the people would sacrifice their children.
  • The buildings seen in the missile testing range were the last standing original buildings of sets used to film Dana Elcar’s old show “Black Sheep Squadron” and Kurt Russel’s “Escape From New York”.

QUOTES

  • Sometimes I get into some very bizarre situations – even for me.  ~MacGyver
  • That man has no sense of military discipline whatsoever.  ~General Makepeace
  • I learned something a long time ago: never laugh at what you don’t know.  ~MacGyver
  • Dreams come from what we’ve seen, or what we’ve done. They’re a way we have of piecing things together.  ~MacGyver
  • Your brain is a kind of computer; everything you’ve ever seen or read or felt is all locked up there, somewhere. The problem is retrieval. Your memory.  ~MacGyver
  • I am going to end up commanding a penguin watch in lower Antarctica.  ~General Makepeace, after discovering the thefts of the parts
  • When I was a kid, my grandfather taught me an important thing about snaring wild game. They have a great sense of smell. They can run fast . . . but they usually don’t look down to see where they’re stepping.  ~MacGyver
  • The missile has been recovered, and the three goons that took it are very busy right now pointing the finger at each other. ~Pete

NIT-PICKS

  • During the first long dream sequence when Carrie is sleeping, after the car comes up on the bank of the lake there is a quick shot of a forklift coming towards her. This shot is not in any other of the dream sequences and its presence in the dream is never mentioned or explained. (the shot is taken from the opening gambit of season one’s ‘The Golden Triangle’ episode)
  • When Mac is matching the lake on his computer he says the search is based on shape and size. He never entered info or asked about the lake size.
  • When MacGyver tells Carrie to drink her tea she is holding a spoon in her hand. The camera angle changes and suddenly the spoon is laying on the table.
  • The discarded car mirror is facing “away” from Mac and Carrie (they approach it from “behind”, or the non-reflective side), so it could not have cast a glare in their faces.
