Leap year is a shock year in terms of romances. Just after the unlikely couple Sonny and Streisand had everybody talking about their unexpected appearance in public, MacGyver’s Richard Dean Anderson caused another sensation.
He took deaf mute actress Marlee Matlin to the Golden Globe ceremony. And it was quite apparent that these two are so in love that they hardly have eyes for anybody else.
Fortunately neither of them received an award – it was apparently Marlee’s Oscar that broke up her and William Hurt’s two-year relationship. They were just there to help with the handing over of the awards. And, of course, the let the world know about their romance.
Richard admits that these days he’s learning sign language as fast as possible and Marlee is apparently taking lesions in speaking. She had worked very hard to be able to surprise everyone by announcing the actors names.
But her performance was less a surprise than her sudden romance was.
